Reborn in the 80s and Remarrying an Officer, Let the Ungrateful Cry!
Chapter 379: Mrs. Qin Is Happy Her Daughter-in-law Has a Friend
Just as Fu Mingxue went inside to change her clothes, Mrs. Qin happened to arrive.
She was surprised to see the main gate wasn’t closed but left ajar.
’Why didn’t Mingxue even close the door?’
She came inside.
There, she saw a strange young woman standing in the courtyard and immediately grew wary. "Who are you?"
The sudden voice gave Song Zhaodi quite a start.
She turned to see a well-dressed older woman.
"I... I’m Song Zhaodi. I’m one of Teacher Fu’s students—I came to see her."
Seeing how nervous and uneasy the young woman was, Mrs. Qin knew she must have startled her.
Her expression immediately softened.
"Oh, so you’re one of our Mingxue’s students! Don’t be nervous. I’m Mingxue’s mother-in-law."
Song Zhaodi had thought she was Teacher Fu’s mother.
She hadn’t expected her to be her mother-in-law.
She immediately said, "Hello, ma’am! Teacher Fu is inside changing her clothes."
"That’s alright. Don’t just stand there, come on inside and sit for a bit."
Mrs. Qin had come over thinking her younger daughter-in-law might be finishing her work at the research institute today, and she planned to ask her home for dinner.
She hadn’t expected her to have a guest over.
Of course, Song Zhaodi would never presume to sit down.
She said, "I’m fine standing, ma’am."
Just then, Fu Mingxue came out.
She had heard her mother-in-law’s voice from inside the room.
"Mom, what brings you here? I’m about to go eat with my student. I’ll stop by the house after we’re finished."
Song Zhaodi felt a little anxious. ’Did I come at a bad time?’
Mrs. Qin waved her hand. "You two go eat! Don’t mind me, I just came to tidy up the place."
"Alright then, we’ll get going."
Fu Mingxue wheeled her bicycle out.
Then she said to Song Zhaodi, "Let’s go!"
Song Zhaodi quickly answered, "Yes, okay."
Then she turned to Mrs. Qin and said, "Goodbye, ma’am!"
"Goodbye!" Mrs. Qin replied.
She didn’t say anything more, simply watching the two of them leave.
Still, she felt happy inside. ’After all, my younger daughter-in-law finally has a friend her own age. And they’re even going out for a meal—that must mean they have a good relationship.’
This time, Song Zhaodi had also come by bicycle.
Fu Mingxue wasn’t surprised when she saw her get on the bicycle parked by the gate.
’After all, how could I not have noticed a bicycle parked right at my gate?’
Perhaps noticing her glance, Song Zhaodi immediately explained, "Teacher Fu, this is a bicycle I bought. It’s used, but it rides pretty well. Comrade Li found it for me. It was sixty yuan, and he said he’ll deduct it from my salary a little at a time."
Song Zhaodi was filled with gratitude. ’Ever since I met Teacher Fu, I’ve only met good people.’
’It’s like... my luck has changed for the better.’
"That’s great. With this bicycle, you’ll save a lot of time on your commute, which means you’ll have more time for reading and studying."
Song Zhaodi was delighted to get Teacher Fu’s approval.
"That’s what I was thinking, too."
She wasn’t afraid of hardship, but she was more than happy to save time if it meant she could study more.
"There’s a noodle shop up ahead that’s quite good. Let’s eat there." Fu Mingxue couldn’t let her student treat her to a meal that was much more expensive than the last one.
"Okay." Song Zhaodi wasn’t familiar with the area.
She would naturally follow Teacher Fu’s lead.
The only reason she knew where Teacher Fu lived was that she had visited once before.
The two of them went to the noodle shop and finished their meal of noodles.
Afterward, Song Zhaodi left, feeling quite fortunate that she had come today. Otherwise, she would have kept feeling indebted for this meal.
After all, Teacher Fu was leaving the next day.
