"Here’s a test paper. Please complete it."

Fu Mingxue took a test paper out of a drawer.

She had put it together this morning during a break.

Song Zhaodi was a little dumbfounded.

She hadn’t expected Teacher Fu to call her over just to take a test.

"Have a seat over there. Don’t be nervous. Just treat this like a regular exam and do what you normally do."

There was a certain reassuring quality to Fu Mingxue’s cool, detached voice.

Although Song Zhaodi couldn’t quite shake her nervousness, she did as Teacher Fu instructed, taking the test paper and sitting down.

Fu Mingxue handed her a pen as well.

"You can work on it here. I’ll give you forty minutes. I need to step out for a bit, but I’ll be back soon."

Fu Mingxue was worried her presence might be a distraction.

So she decided to let her work on it alone.

Just as she’d expected, Song Zhaodi’s tension eased considerably upon hearing this.

"Y-yes, Teacher Fu."

Once Fu Mingxue left, she looked over the questions on the paper. ’These aren’t the kind of questions you’d normally see. They’re a bit difficult.’ But it wasn’t as if she couldn’t solve them.

Meanwhile, Fu Mingxue had gone to see Director Zheng.

"Fu Mingxue, did you need something?"

"Yes, I do. I came to discuss the issue with yesterday’s data from the research institute."

Director Zheng’s expression turned serious the moment Fu Mingxue spoke.

"Go on—"

Fu Mingxue took a drawing out of her pocket.

Director Zheng stared.

’Her pocket? How could she just stuff something so important in her pocket? What if it fell out and someone else found it?’

He stepped forward and took the drawing from her.

Fu Mingxue pointed to the data on the drawing and began her explanation.

Half an hour went by before a knock sounded at the door.

Director Zheng immediately put the drawing away.

"I’ll talk to them about this when I get back to the institute."

"Alright. In that case, I’ll be going," Fu Mingxue said, turning to leave.

When she opened the door, she found Principal Wu standing outside.

Principal Wu looked a little surprised to see her and immediately smiled. "Teacher Fu, you’re here as well!"

"Hello, Principal Wu! I was just discussing a work matter with Director Zheng. I should get going, so please, go on in."

With that, Fu Mingxue walked out.

When she returned to the office next door, Song Zhaodi was just finishing up.

Seeing Teacher Fu return, Song Zhaodi immediately stood up. "Teacher Fu. I’m finished."

Fu Mingxue walked over, picked up the test paper, and began to look it over.

Song Zhaodi, standing to the side, grew tense again at the sight.

She was stuck, not knowing whether she should leave or stay.

She stood frozen in place, not daring to move.

Fu Mingxue finished looking it over very quickly.

After all, she could read ten lines at a glance.

Of course, she knew the answers to the test by heart.

Plus, Song Zhaodi’s handwriting was excellent—remarkably neat.

After looking it over, Fu Mingxue graded it.

"You got these few questions wrong. Here’s how you should solve them—"

Seeing that there was still time, Fu Mingxue decided to go over the problems with her.

This time, Song Zhaodi forgot all about her nervousness and immediately leaned in to listen.

Her thirst for knowledge trumped everything else.

Her eyes grew brighter and brighter the more she listened.

Half an hour later, Fu Mingxue had explained everything.

Song Zhaodi immediately thanked her, "Thank you, Teacher Fu."

She had assumed she was in trouble for something.

But instead, Teacher Fu was giving her private tutoring. She was beyond thrilled.

Just then, Fu Mingxue spoke up. "Song Zhaodi, I have a job opportunity I was wondering if you’d be interested in. It wouldn’t interfere too much with your studies."

Song Zhaodi was even more stunned by this.

’Teacher Fu is offering me a job? What does she mean?’
