"Phew, we’re finally here."

The three-day train ride had been absolutely miserable for Fu Mingxue.

It really was a bad idea to travel by train in the middle of summer.

Fortunately, they had booked a sleeper car.

If they had been in the hard-seat section, the three-day journey would have been pure torture.

"Let’s get off first." Qin Wenhao felt sorry for his wife.

He carried a suitcase in one hand and had a parcel slung over his other shoulder.

It was filled with things his mother-in-law wanted him to bring back to the family—local specialties, apparently.

The couple got off the train.

Fu Mingxue asked, "How are we getting home? Are we taking the bus?"

"No need. I called home when I went to buy the train tickets. Wenshu should be coming to pick us up. Let’s head out of the station first."

Fu Mingxue breathed a sigh of relief when she heard Qin Wenshu was coming to get them.

"Let’s go!"

The husband and wife exited the station.

They spotted Qin Wenshu at a glance.

Qin Wenshu saw them too.

He waved his hand high in the air. "Brother Wenhao, Sister-in-law, over here! I’m over here!"

The couple walked over to him.

Qin Wenshu quickly took their suitcase and put it in the car.

Once they were all settled in the car, he started the engine and drove away from the train station.

As he drove, Qin Wenshu suddenly piped up, "Brother Wenhao, Sister-in-law, did you come back because you knew our eldest brother was getting married?"

His words stunned them both.

"You’re saying Qin Wenze is getting married?" Qin Wenhao’s expression soured.

Fu Mingxue was genuinely surprised.

’It hasn’t been that long—and Qin Wenze is already getting married?’

She really didn’t know what to make of it.

"Yeah! They’re getting married next month—" Qin Wenshu caught himself. "Wait, no, that’s still a month away. Are you planning to stay in Beijing City for a whole month?"

Qin Wenhao’s voice was calm now. "I’m not here for his wedding. I’m accompanying my wife back to Beijing for her school exams."

In truth, he was very displeased with Qin Wenze.

’How could he be getting married just like that?’

"Who’s he marrying?"

Qin Wenshu chuckled. "You’ll never guess. She’s one of Eldest Brother’s old classmates. She was sent down to the countryside a few years ago. She was supposed to take the college entrance exam last year but failed, so she just came back to the city this year."

Hearing this, Qin Wenhao’s brow furrowed even deeper.

Before he could ask about the woman, Qin Wenshu was already chattering away.

"This future sister-in-law is pretty gentle, and her temper is worlds better than that Lan Qingman’s. Anyway, Eldest Aunt likes her. The family doesn’t object either, so they’re preparing for the wedding."

"As for Eldest Brother and our future sister-in-law—oh, right, they registered their marriage today."

Qin Wenhao: ...?

Fu Mingxue: ...?

’That was fast!’

"Hehe, it’s a good thing Eldest Brother never got a marriage certificate with that Lan Qingman. So now—this counts as his first marriage!"

Fu Mingxue: ...?

Qin Wenhao didn’t want to hear any more.

Anyway, when it came to matters of the heart, his eldest brother didn’t seem very reliable.

"Oh, by the way, the new sister-in-law is at your house right now. You’ll see her in a bit. I guess it’s to celebrate, and also because Eldest Aunt told them you were coming back, so you’re all having dinner together."

Qin Wenshu chattered on endlessly.

He recounted everything that had happened recently.

"One more thing. Do you remember that annoying Zhao Sisi? She finally got married last month."

Ever since he found out Zhao Sisi was getting married, Qin Wenshu had been just short of setting off firecrackers to celebrate.

That woman would finally stop pestering him.
