Reborn in the 80s and Remarrying an Officer, Let the Ungrateful Cry!
Chapter 311: A New Task
When Fu Mingxue worked, she was completely absorbed. The modifications took her two full hours.
In reality, it was more like designing a whole new model.
’Instead of just tweaking the performance of such an old model,’ she thought, ’it’s better to design a new one from scratch.’
Using slightly better materials was key, but the most important thing was to extend the service life of the water pump.
And its pumping power was stronger too.
Additionally, the new filter screen she implemented would be much more resistant to wear and tear from underwater sediment.
Even if the water level was a bit low, it wouldn’t cause the machine to burn out immediately.
Qin Wenhao watched the woman engrossed in her work and sighed in resignation. "Honey, it’s almost two o’clock. Why don’t you get some sleep?"
"Alright." Fu Mingxue was just finishing up the blueprints.
She looked at the finished drawings with great satisfaction.
The required materials were all labeled on them.
She packed everything away into her work bag and then climbed into bed.
"The weather’s starting to get hot. We should find a chance to buy a couple of electric fans."
’Fu Mingxue actually wanted to install an air conditioner. After all, I work so hard—what’s wrong with wanting to be a little more comfortable when I sleep?’
Unfortunately, they didn’t sell air conditioners here.
Qin Wenhao made a mental note. "Okay."
’Whatever his wife wanted,’ he thought, ’he’d find a way to get it for her.’
"Time to sleep!" Fu Mingxue tossed out the words, closed her eyes, and was out like a light.
Qin Wenhao: ...?
’I have to admit,’ he mused, ’my wife’s ability to fall asleep in a second is pretty impressive.’
Then, he closed his eyes as well.
Lately, Qin Wenhao hadn’t been deployed on any missions and had been staying at the base.
Fu Mingxue, on the other hand, was as busy as ever.
The good news was that Group Six’s new engine prototype was ready.
And it had passed all sorts of tests.
Because this engine was designed for the aviation department, it was secretly whisked away after passing all rounds of testing.
Assembling it into the aircraft was no longer her responsibility.
Of course, if any problems with the engine arose during the aircraft’s manufacturing process, she would definitely be in trouble.
But she was confident there wouldn’t be any issues.
The whole group was celebrating with a few days off. After all, they had barely taken a break these past few months.
Director Geng called Fu Mingxue over.
"You’re not coming to the factory tomorrow either, are you?"
"That’s right. This break comes at the perfect time. I have to make a trip back to Beijing."
Director Geng was a bit curious. "What are you going to Beijing for?"
"To take my exams! Don’t you forget, I have to take my finals."
Director Geng: ...?
Then he remembered—their Group Leader Fu also had another identity: a university student.
"With your level of skill, what’s the point of going to university? You could be a professor yourself."
Fu Mingxue joked, "In that case, are you going to issue me a university diploma?"
Director Geng: ...?
’Like hell he could—not a chance in the world.’
’If he had that kind of power, he’d get himself four, five, no, seven of them—one from every university.’
"So, when will you be back?"
"This trip will take at least half a month of my vacation! Besides, isn’t my work here done?"
She needed to strike a balance between work and rest, too.
"Half a month it is, then. Not a day more. There’s a new assignment." Director Geng lowered his voice slightly. "Hasn’t Old Ji told you yet? Your group needs to develop a more powerful engine—for the research institute’s fighter jet development team."
Originally, this assignment wouldn’t have landed on their plate.
But who could they blame? Their JJF-15 was just too damn good. It completely surpassed current standards.
And so, the task of developing the new fighter jet engine fell to Fu Mingxue.
