Reborn in the 80s and Remarrying an Officer, Let the Ungrateful Cry!
Chapter 302: Throwing Mom Under the Bus
"So that’s settled. My mom will be the one from our family. Otherwise, you’d all just say our family doesn’t care about collective honor. After all, my mom might be old, but she’s healthy. It’s not like she’s missing any arms or legs."
Mrs. Fu wanted to smack her.
’Can’t a single nice word ever come out of that mouth?’
"—We’ll discuss this further. We’ll let you know when we have a decision." After saying this, Sister Wang didn’t want to stay a moment longer.
She made a hasty exit.
Fu Mingxue shrugged. She had wanted to just roll her eyes.
But she was still holding the baby!
She turned her head—yikes, the look on her mom’s face was terrifying.
She gave a placating smile. "Mom, that was just a tactic to get rid of her. Don’t be mad. By the way, is the food almost ready? I’m getting a little hungry."
Mrs. Fu glared at her and snapped, "The noodles are ready. You eat first. We’ll have dinner later."
Then she turned to her son-in-law, her stern expression instantly vanishing, replaced by a warm and friendly smile. "Son-in-law, I made extra noodles. You have a bowl, too!"
Hearing that she had made extra, Qin Wenhao immediately nodded. "Okay, I’ll have a bowl then."
Fu Mingxue saw her mom’s expression and couldn’t help but let out a "tsk."
’How can she be so two-faced? Who’s the biological child here, anyway?’
’Isn’t this change a little too quick?’
She remembered how her mom had looked at her with such tenderness right when she got back.
But now, the look she was getting was downright hostile.
After seeing his mother-in-law go to the kitchen, Qin Wenhao walked back over and sat down next to Fu Mingxue.
"Don’t worry about what that Sister Wang said just now. I’ll handle it—"
Fu Mingxue waved her hand dismissively. "You don’t need to worry about it. She’ll definitely drop the idea. Besides, my mom’s on the case."
She gave Qin Wenhao a sidelong glance. "You’d better not underestimate your mother-in-law’s fighting spirit. Trust me, even if they really made her perform, my mom would be great. She’s got real-world experience."
Back at the factory, whenever there was some celebration or other that required a performance—there were prizes.
Her mom always went specifically for those prizes.
After all, bringing home a ceramic mug or a towel meant saving the family money. It was a household asset.
Her mom was incredibly enthusiastic about that sort of thing, never missing a chance.
Fortunately, her mom had a pleasant-sounding voice.
It was just that because she was a widow, whenever she went on stage to perform, people would gossip.
But that didn’t affect her mom’s enthusiasm one bit. And if she ever overheard anyone, she would march right up to them and chew them out.
When it came to arguing, her mom had rarely ever lost.
Over time, the people at the factory didn’t dare to badmouth her mom anymore.
After all, her mom was capable of chasing people all the way to their homes to yell at them—who would dare provoke someone like that?
Back then, if circumstances had been different, her mom could have probably even gotten into the Art Troupe.
Qin Wenhao was dumbfounded. ’My mother-in-law is *that* formidable?’
Just then, Mrs. Fu came out carrying a bowl of noodles.
Seeing this, Qin Wenhao quickly put the baby down.
"Mom, I’ll get my own."
He walked quickly toward the kitchen—
Fu Mingxue looked at the big bowl of noodles and took a sniff. "Mom, this smells amazing. Nobody makes noodles like you do. I’ve been craving this for the whole month I was away."
Mrs. Fu snorted. "Oh, so you only think about your dear old mom when you’re hungry. Otherwise, you’d be perfectly happy to roast me over an open fire! It’s ’Mom’ when you need help, and ’Mom’ when you want food. What, am I just here for you to walk all over?"
