Reborn in the 80s and Remarrying an Officer, Let the Ungrateful Cry!
Chapter 299: What’s Wrong with Wanting to Get a Little Closer?
Mrs. Fu saw them gazing at each other and quietly slipped back into the kitchen to cook.
’The couple hadn’t seen each other in a month. They needed more time to themselves.’
Unfortunately, the two little ones weren’t nearly as perceptive.
They ran over, one heading for Qin Wenhao and the other for Fu Mingxue.
"Daddy!"
"Mommy—"
Qin Wenhao looked down at the little guy hugging his thigh.
’Can’t you go play by yourself?’
’So clueless!’
"Daddy, up!" Qin Hao tilted his head back, seemingly confused as to why his father hadn’t picked him up yet.
With a hint of exasperation, Qin Wenhao scooped the little guy up with one arm.
He then walked over to Fu Mingxue and plucked the other little one into his arms.
"Mommy’s tired. Daddy will hold you."
Fu Mingxue: ...?
’But I wanted to hold my sweet little dumpling.’
’Besides, how could holding a child for a little while be tiring!’
’Especially when those big, grape-like eyes were blinking up at her, brimming with longing for her mommy—who could possibly refuse?’
’She certainly couldn’t.’
She reached out—and took her soft, cuddly little dumpling back into her arms.
"I’m not tired."
Qin Wenhao: ...?
’What was he supposed to do? Snatch the child back?’
"Is work all wrapped up? Have you had a chance to rest?"
"I can’t tomorrow. I have to go back to the factory and check on things." She hadn’t been back in so long and had no idea how her team was doing.
’She definitely had to go check on them.’
Qin Wenhao thought her job was really demanding.
Just then, Fu Mingxue remembered something. "How’s Qiaoqiao doing?"
"She’s recovered quite well and seems to have moved past the shadow of that incident. But the fact that she’s speaking again is all thanks to a Doctor Xie."
Fu Mingxue’s interest was instantly piqued.
After all, she’d been so busy with work that she hadn’t even had time to call, so she really didn’t know the details.
"What happened? Tell me everything."
Qin Wenhao saw the sparkle in her eyes and said, "Let’s sit down to talk."
So, Fu Mingxue sat down on a stool in the yard, holding her little daughter.
"Where’d you get this stone table? It’s really nice."
Qin Wenhao was happy to see she liked it.
"I had it brought over from the stone factory. I thought it would look good here."
Fu Mingxue thought the stone table was a wonderful idea; they could eat out in the yard in the summer.
"Now, about Qiaoqiao. What exactly happened!"
Qin Wenhao then gave her a brief summary of the whole affair.
Fu Mingxue gasped, utterly dumbfounded—
She had gotten the gist of it when she’d called her father-in-law earlier.
But hearing Qin Wenhao lay it all out—’My God, that Lan Qingman is a real piece of work.’
"What sentence did that Lan Qingman get?"
"Three years." Qin Wenhao’s voice was a little cold.
He was clearly unhappy with the verdict.
’It was too light.’
Fu Mingxue thought it was too light as well.
’She should have gotten at least eight or ten years.’
’How could it only be three years?’
"What about Ruan Hongfei?"
"One year."
Fu Mingxue: ...?
’That’s way too little.’
’It should have been three to five years.’
As for the other accomplice, she didn’t even want to ask. A person like that deserved to die.
"It’s good that the child can put it all behind her and move on. A beautiful future awaits her."
’I just hope Lan Qingman doesn’t come back to harass the child when she gets out in three years.’
’But Qin Wenze is still so young, and his two kids are just toddlers—he’ll remarry, won’t he?’
’I just hope he’s not blind to character again and ends up with another unreliable, two-faced stepmother.’
Just then, a knock sounded from outside—
