Reborn in the 80s and Remarrying an Officer, Let the Ungrateful Cry!
Chapter 228: Agreeing to the Divorce
"You, you’re threatening me?"
Lan Qingman’s face was a mask of furious disbelief.
She never thought Qin Wenze would actually say something like that.
Qin Wenze said expressionlessly, "Then consider it a threat. After all, it’s not like I’m making this up."
Lan Qingman was so furious she laughed. "Qin Wenze, you son of a bitch. You want a divorce, is that it?"
"Fine, a divorce it is! Do you really think my life is over without you? But if you think you can just walk away after all these years without paying up, you’ve got another thing coming. I even gave you a son!"
"You have to give me ten thousand yuan, or I’m not agreeing to the divorce."
’Hah, with ten thousand yuan—what kind of good life couldn’t she have?’
’Would she still need to put up with all this crap from the Qin family?’
Qin Wenze was completely unmoved by her exorbitant demand for ten thousand yuan.
"Don’t even think about ten thousand. I’ll give you one thousand, take it or leave it. If you don’t agree to the divorce today, then I’m taking Zhang Si to the police station tomorrow."
Lan Qingman lost it.
’Just a thousand? Is he trying to shoo away a beggar?’
She was so enraged that she lunged at Qin Wenze, scratching and clawing at him—
"I’ll kill you, you bastard! If you don’t give me the money, I won’t divorce you! We’ll see how you threaten me now—"
Qin Wenze grabbed her wrist.
His face was livid. "In that case, we don’t have to wait. We’re going to the police station right now."
"You, you—" Lan Qingman saw he was serious.
She lost her nerve before he even dragged her to the door.
"Fine, I’ll divorce you—but you have to give me two thousand. I don’t have a job. I’ve spent the last few years raising our child. Why shouldn’t your Old Qin Family give me money?"
Just then, a deep voice rang out, "Give her two thousand."
Lan Qingman froze. She looked up. The person who had spoken was her father-in-law.
’So—everyone in the Qin family, from top to bottom, agrees to this divorce?’
’This damned Qin family—they’re all so black-hearted.’
’They’ll all come to a bad end someday.’
After agreeing to the two thousand, Mr. Qin walked out without giving Lan Qingman a single glance.
This made Lan Qingman so furious her eyes grew even redder.
’Fine. They want a divorce? Then let’s get divorced.’
’Just you wait!’
In less than half a day, the entire residential compound was stunned by the news of Qin Wenze and Lan Qingman’s divorce.
You have to understand, divorce was very rare in those days.
The only exceptions had been a few years prior, due to issues like the "Down to the Countryside Movement"—some couples had been forced to divorce, and parents and children had to sever ties.
But a divorce like this, coming out of nowhere when things seemed fine, was a first for their compound.
Everyone was dying of curiosity—how could a single argument lead to a divorce?
A few of them, however, knew a thing or two.
Mrs. Qin, however, couldn’t be bothered with any of this. She was already on a train with Qin Wenshu, rushing to see Qin Wenhao.
Qin Wenshu was quite resourceful; he had managed to get two sleeper car tickets.
And what’s more, they were surprisingly the only two people in the entire sleeper car.
There were even empty berths.
After Qin Wenshu stowed their luggage, he said to Mrs. Qin:
"Aunt, you have dark circles under your eyes. You must not have slept well last night. You should try to get some sleep now."
Having just boarded the train, Mrs. Qin was hardly tired.
"I don’t feel like sleeping. Oh, by the way, I heard your mother arranged a blind date for you. How is she, your date?"
Qin Wenshu shook his head. "No good. I had someone ask around about her. Aunt, guess what I found out?"
His words instantly piqued Mrs. Qin’s curiosity. "What is it? Is there something wrong with the girl?"
