Mrs. Fu’s mouth twitched.

’She sure has some nerve.’

"I’m really sorry about that, but my daughter’s was made for her by the factory."

"Besides, this isn’t about money at all. As you know, things from the engine factory can’t just be made for anyone. That would be against factory regulations."

"Oh, you can’t do that? Then can we buy one from the factory? Any price is fine."

Mrs. Fu was speechless.

’What does she mean, any price is fine?’

’Is she trying to play the big shot in front of me?’

"The factory has a confidentiality agreement, so we can’t just make them for others. If you really want one, you’ll have to wait. Maybe one day, the motor factory will put them up for sale in the supply and marketing co-op. You can buy one then. But right now, it’s impossible. You’re asking for the impossible, and my daughter could lose her job over it!"

Sister-in-law Liu was speechless.

’She didn’t believe a word of it.’

’If the rules were really that strict, how did Fu Mingxue get one?’

’And fine, if you don’t want to help, just say so. But to even say I’m asking for the impossible...’

Suppressing her dissatisfaction, she persisted, "Is it really impossible? How about I go with Mingxue to her factory and ask?"

Mrs. Fu’s expression darkened. "That’s absolutely not possible. My daughter’s workplace forbids family members from entering the factory. Otherwise, I, her own mother, would have gone. A stranger like you has even less of a chance."

"Sister-in-law Liu, as for that bicycle of yours, you’re better off just riding it yourself. After all, pedaling every day is good exercise."

’Stop staring at what other people have all day long—wanting everything you see.’

’If someone else flew to the sky, would she want to do that too?’

Sister-in-law Liu’s expression began to crumble.

’She felt that Fu Mingxue’s mother was being too harsh.’

"—Sorry, if you can’t, then forget it! I won’t disturb you from watching the child anymore."

The moment she turned, her face completely darkened.

Mrs. Fu couldn’t care less what her expression was.

’Trying to take advantage of her family—not a chance.’

She walked over and shut the main gate.

Meanwhile, Sister-in-law Liu returned home, her face grim.

She was seething with anger.

"What’s wrong? Didn’t you just go to Qin Tuan’s family’s house? Why the long face?" The person asking was her mother-in-law.

"I was just thinking about how fast Fu Mingxue’s bicycle is, and I wanted to get one too. I kindly went to ask, and it’s not like I wanted her to do it for free—I’d pay! But in the end, that mother of Fu Mingxue’s said a whole bunch of nasty things to jab at me."

"She’s a real shrew, it’s not like you don’t know. Did you forget she once fought Hao Rong’s mother next door and knocked out one of her teeth?"

"And you still dared to ask her daughter to make a bicycle for you? You’re lucky she didn’t just throw you out."

Hearing her mother-in-law’s words, Auntie Hao’s expression stiffened for a moment.

"—Well, she can’t be that unreasonable, can she? It’s not like I was looking for trouble. Forget it. If she won’t make one, she won’t make one. So stingy."

"In my opinion, Qin Wenhao must have been blind to marry her daughter. Neither that mother nor the daughter is someone to be messed with."

’Qin Wenhao is such a good catch, yet he ended up entangled with such a shrewish mother-daughter pair just because of two children—he must have had eight lifetimes of bad luck.’

──

Fu Mingxue had no idea that woman had gone to find her mother.

After arriving at the factory and parking her bicycle, she went straight to Director Geng’s office.

The office door happened to be open, so she gave it a token knock or two.

"Come in." Director Geng looked up and saw it was Fu Mingxue. He immediately smiled and said, "Little Fu, you’re here so early. Don’t tell me you’ve already finished the blueprints?"
