Chapter 1190: Chapter 908: Little Star Side Story (1)_2
Little Star sat down opposite the person, gave a polite smile, and whispered in English, "Excuse me, I’ll just borrow this seat for a bit." But when she lifted her eyes, she couldn’t help taking a second look. Because this person was Chinese. And his face looked somewhat familiar.
At nine in the morning, the warm sunlight poured in from the seats by the window, spilling over the entire long square table, with golden dust motes dancing delicately in midair. They took turns wrapping around a pair of perfectly slender hands that were turning the pages of a newspaper.
And the owner of those hands also possessed a stunningly handsome face that looked as if it had been kissed by the Creator.
He was leaning against the backrest, sitting on the soft sofa in front of the table, his long legs crossed, posture relaxed, but whether it was his cold, chiseled profile or his aloof air, everything about him said he was not someone easy to approach. Under his slanted sword-like brows, his dark, deep eyes were sharp; his thin lips were pressed lightly together, and his gaze would occasionally shift from the current events to the watch on his left wrist, as if he were waiting for someone.
Little Star knew this person; he lived right next door to her, they were neighbors. Why did Little Star know him? Because this man was way too handsome, and he was also a student. Every morning when she left home, she would always see him going out with a backpack too, just not to her school.
Little Star didn’t know if he knew her, but when she suddenly sat down next to him, he merely lifted his head and glanced at her. After hearing what she said, he didn’t refuse; he just lowered his head again and went on reading his newspaper.
Little Star felt a bit awkward for a moment. She turned her head and discreetly glanced over at Xiao Wu, only to see Xiao Wu already trying to talk sense into that classmate of his. The two of them were about to get up and leave, which made Little Star breathe a sigh of relief as she silently blamed Xiao Wu in her heart.
Only when she saw the two of them walk out of the shop did Little Star finally let out a huge breath. Brushing away her worries, she turned back to the neighbor across from her and gave him a sweet smile. "Thanks, I’ll get going now."
You Jingyi lifted his eyes and glanced at her, then looked down at his watch, something flickering in his gaze.
The space between his back and the sofa slowly opened up, and then Little Star heard him say, "It’s you?"
This stunned Little Star, who had just been about to stand up. Her brain froze on the spot. She widened her eyes, hadn’t quite heard what he said, and then looked at him in confusion, letting out a soft "Hm?"
You Jingyi casually placed the newspaper in his hand on the edge of the table. He stood up, but before he could speak, he caught sight of a figure slowly walking in from the entrance out of the corner of his eye. The words he’d been about to say instantly turned into something else: "Do me a favor."
Before Little Star could react, You Jingyi had already pulled her slender arm and sat her down beside him.
Little Star stared at the hand that was holding her arm, even more confused about what on earth was going on, and called out, "Sir—"
Before she could finish, You Jingyi suddenly pulled her into his arms. Seeing what he was doing, Little Star’s eyes widened at once. She frowned, a bit angry. You Jingyi knew this wasn’t appropriate either; he gave her an apologetic look and said, "Sorry for being presumptuous. Please, do me a favor and cooperate a bit."
As soon as he finished speaking, You Jingyi smiled and helped Little Star take a dessert from the table, then patted her head with a pampering gesture and said with a laugh, "Your favorite. I ordered it especially for you. Have a taste."
Little Star was totally baffled by her neighbor, but she still frowned and cooperatively picked up the spoon.
"Jingyi."
She hadn’t even come all the way over yet, but the woman who could no longer tolerate this scene playing out in front of her finally spoke. "Who is this woman?"
The last bit of her rationality was still reminding her that this was a public place. As the Wang Family’s heiress, she absolutely could not let herself become a joke in a place like this.
So when she asked that question, there was still a smile on her face.
Little Star turned her head to look over before You Jingyi did.
The woman speaking was extremely beautiful.
Her makeup was exquisitely done, yet it still couldn’t cover up her already outstanding features. Her long hair was styled in loose waves cascading down her back, and the clothes she wore were also a limited-edition new-season dress from a well-known brand. The whole person looked like a doll that ought to be carefully cherished.
But You Jingyi had absolutely no intention of cherishing her at all; he even felt annoyed by this doll-like woman.
As a fellow woman, Little Star quickly picked up on this, and also understood what this neighbor meant earlier by asking her to help him out... probably...
If she guessed right, it was because of the woman in front of them, wasn’t it?
"Sorry, I already have a girlfriend... Xingxing, let me introduce you. This is my father’s old friend’s daughter, Wang Ling’ai." You Jingyi glanced at the woman who’d arrived, then turned his eyes back to Little Star, smiling as he introduced her.
His behavior only further confirmed Little Star’s guess.
But who was this woman? Probably his admirer, Little Star’s neighbor’s pursuer? At this point, Little Star could only play along and give that Miss Wang a little nod. "Hello, my name is Han Xingyue."
"Miss Wang is here for a visit, and I heard you brought a lot of girlfriends along. I suppose you don’t really need me to keep you company. Since my girlfriend rarely gets to come over, we won’t intrude on your fun. We’ll get going first." You Jingyi said to Wang Ling’ai with a smile. When he’d finished, not giving Wang Ling’ai any chance to argue, he very intimately took Little Star’s hand and led her out the door of the café.
Wang Ling’ai was left standing there, stunned. She hadn’t expected You Jingyi to embarrass her like this. He clearly knew Uncle You had asked him to look after her more while she was here, yet he’d actually shown up with another woman when meeting her, and was even planning to just walk off, completely ignoring her.
But what she wanted to know most right now was who that woman was—the woman who’d been acting so intimate with You Jingyi.
