Hearing the old woman’s words, Li Axiu immediately found sympathy. Overcome with grief, she threw herself toward her. "Granny! You have to seek justice for my daughter! My unborn grandchild! My poor daughter! BOO HOO HOO! The Fourth Wife of Jing has a black heart. She wouldn’t even spare an unborn child. She’s too vicious."

Looking at the tearful Li Axiu, Granny suddenly felt a bit stifled. She didn’t even care for Jing Er, so why would she pity Li Axiu’s daughter? If An Lin hadn’t insisted she come no matter what, she wouldn’t have wanted to wade into this muddy water.

Qin Mei watched this scene, finding it utterly ridiculous. Since they were putting on a play, it would be disrespectful of her not to watch. Acting was exhausting, but watching the show was not. Qin Mei simply sat back down in her wicker chair. The crowd stared at her. There were only two wicker chairs in the courtyard. Granny would definitely sit in one, but what about Grandpa? Would he have to sit on a stone stool?

"Fourth Wife of Jing, do you have any filial piety at all? Get up and let Granny sit," Chen Xiuhua demanded, making things difficult.

"I don’t have a heart," Qin Mei shot back. She didn’t even have a heart, let alone filial piety.

"You..."

Jie Jianjun tugged at Chen Xiuhua, signaling her not to stick her neck out. Didn’t she know that the nail that sticks out gets hammered down?

Granny hadn’t come to fight Qin Mei for a wicker chair. She shot a glance at Jie Anlin, who immediately understood. He moved the wicker chair beside Qin Mei over to Granny, helped her sit down, and then guided Grandpa to sit on a stone stool.

"An Lin, go ahead and speak," Granny said to him, sitting comfortably in the wicker chair.

Qin Mei glanced at Granny, then at Jie Anlin, and gave a mocking smile. Not only had they come prepared, but they had also colluded beforehand. With Granny backing him up, Jie Anlin had nothing to worry about. He could talk black into white.

Jie Anlin puffed out his chest, took a step forward, and cleared his throat, ready to begin his grand speech.

"What is he going to say? What right does he have to speak? Could it be that he is the child’s father?" Qin Mei suddenly interrupted, her words shocking everyone to their core.

The crowd fell speechless.

Jie Anlin roared in anger. "Fourth Wife of Jing, what nonsense are you spouting? Don’t go pinning the blame on me! Second Daughter-in-law Jing and I have barely even met."

"You’ve barely met her, yet you still lusted after her." Qin Mei gave Jie Anlin a thumbs-up, but her eyes were filled with contempt.

"Who lusted after her?!" Jie Anlin’s voice cracked. Before her pregnancy, Lin Yaru had indeed been quite pretty. But pregnant Lin Yaru looked like a haggard old woman; she didn’t catch his eye at all. If he lusted after anyone, it was Qin Mei. In the past, he only dared to think about it but not act. Now, with Xu Chunyan’s help and Granny backing him up, he was filled with courage—he wouldn’t rest until he slept with her.

"Fourth Wife of Jing, how dare you slander my daughter’s innocence! When my daughter got with Jing Er, she was a pure virgin!" Li Axiu’s eyes surged with fury.

"Oh! Is that so? How exactly did your daughter end up with Jie Jingwei? Come on, tell us. Share the story of their beautiful encounter with everyone." Qin Mei smiled innocuously, but her eyes were icy. Lin Yaru’s original target for the drugged food had been Jie Jingchen.

In the past, she wouldn’t have cared that Lin Yaru had drugged Jie Jingchen. Now, she cared. No one was allowed to lay a finger on her man. Perhaps, this was the difference between not being in love and being in love. Before falling in love, she could be as forgiving as a saint; but now that she loved him, she wouldn’t tolerate a single grain of sand in her eye.

"My daughter and Jing Er had mutual feelings and were deeply in love," Li Axiu lied. She didn’t have the face to publicly admit that Yaru had drugged Jing Si, only for Jing Si to switch the drugged food with Jing Er’s, leading to Yaru sleeping with Jing Er... Afterward, they had threatened Jing Er, forcing him to divorce his wife and marry Yaru.

They had thought that as long as Yaru married Jing Er and carried his child, even if she didn’t love him, she would settle down and live a steady life with him for the baby’s sake. Who could have imagined that Yaru’s feelings for Jing Si were so deep that they turned into an obsession, throwing her married life into absolute chaos? They even regretted it, thinking they shouldn’t have forced Yaru to marry Jing Er.

Everyone present knew the truth, but by tacit agreement, no one exposed Li Axiu’s lie.

"Mutual feelings, deeply in love," Qin Mei murmured. Just as everyone thought she was going to expose Li Axiu’s lie, she simply replied, "Not bad at all."

As soon as Qin Mei said this, everyone was a little confused, unable to figure out what she had up her sleeve.

"Fourth Wife of Jing, you interrupted Mr. Jie. Are you trying to stop him from telling the truth?" Seeing that the topic had strayed, Xu Chunyan couldn’t help but speak up to steer it back. If Jie Anlin wasn’t given a chance to speak, how could they nail Qin Mei to the wall?
