Chapter 5564: Showing Off the Granddaughter-in-law

Chapter 5564: Chapter 5564: Showing Off the Granddaughter-in-law

Upon knowing it was Ye Jian’s call, Old Madam didn’t forget to tell the older relatives around her, "It’s Little Six’s girlfriend calling, she is a really nice girl. I liked her from the very first glance."

Xia Jinyuan laughed heartily, "Your granddaughter-in-law is my wife, so of course I should talk to her nicely and make her happy first. Otherwise, you’ll say I don’t know how to entertain people."

The older relatives were all laughing and asking Xia Jinyuan when he would get married, saying they would all come to eat the wedding feast. Ye Jian’s ears burned with embarrassment, and Old Madam’s kind voice came through as well, "Ye girl, happy New Year."

Ye Jian hurriedly replied, "Grandma Xia, happy New Year, wishing you good health and everything going your way!"

"Ye girl, happy New Year." That was Grandpa Xia’s voice, who leaned toward his wife without even taking the phone, speaking closely.

Xia Jinyuan quickly switched to speaker mode to prevent the two elders from quarreling over who should take his baby’s call, leading to a petty squabble.

"Grandpa Xia, happy New Year..." Hearing the laughter of the older generation on the other end, Ye Jian was rather nervous. She never felt so nervous even on the battlefield.

"That’s Grandpa Xia and Grandma Xia for you, Little Six, you’re not charming enough; you haven’t made your girlfriend start calling them differently yet," the older relatives teased gently and kindly, their teasing full of hope for the happiness of the younger generation.

Xia Jinyuan replied respectfully, "You all must come and take your seats when the time comes; I’m looking forward to you attending my wedding."

"Hahaha, alright, with your word, we’ll definitely come!"

The relatives all laughed, and Old Madam Xia, who had wrestled the phone back, also chuckled, "Ye girl, whenever you drop that ’Xia’ in the front, the grandparents will be even happier."

"Grandpa and Grandma are looking forward to it." Xia Jinyuan reminded her in time, which also served to cheer up the old folks, especially with the elders of the family sitting in the room. He wanted all the elders of the family to like Ye Jian to avoid awkwardness when she recognized the family.

Ye Jian was not shy about it and immediately called out sweetly, "Grandpa, Grandma, happy New Year. To all the elders, happy New Year."

"Hahaha, hahaha..." Both Old Madam and Old Man Xia laughed heartily together, feeling very pleased, "Alright, alright, such a good child! You are at Dan Gui Garden now, aren’t you?"

Old Madam had started chatting with Ye Jian about family matters, "I heard from Little Six that your father also came back for New Year’s, and Li Jinnian is back too. With you all here, the house must be lively."

"Yes indeed, Grandma." After starting, it became much easier to continue speaking. Ye Jian laughed happily while chatting with the old lady, talking about everything from family to guests for at least ten minutes.

Xia Jinyuan, on the other hand, spent ten minutes chatting with the older generation, also worrying that Old Madam would hang up on Ye Jian, so he kept an eye on the situation.

Old Madam saw and found it amusing, "Little Six can hardly wait to talk to you, so Grandma won’t delay your chat with him. You two have a good talk. If you both are happy, it brings joy to Grandma’s heart."

Knowing his future granddaughter-in-law was shy, Old Madam handed the phone back to Xia Jinyuan, "Go chat with An Jiaxin for a bit, and remember to pay New Year’s respects to Old Man Xia as well; don’t forget."

Xia Jinyuan took the phone with both hands as if receiving an imperial decree, amusing the older generation into hearty laughter; this Little Six was indeed charming, skilled in entertaining the family.

Escaping from the interrogation by the older generation, Xia Jinyuan breathed a sigh of relief, "If you keep chatting with Grandma, I would really commit the act of usurping, snatching the phone back from her."
