Chapter 5546: Surprise

Chapter 5546: Chapter 5546: Surprise

Before heading to the Fu family’s place, Qin Xiu had purposefully gone upstairs to change into a suitable suit, not because of Ye Jian, but because he had helped in the kitchen earlier and gotten covered in the smell of cooking fumes.

After changing his clothes, he then joined the elders, carrying the Old Master Qin’s treasured can of Jin Jun Mei tea, as they made their way to the Fu family.

"Old Man Xia, Old Man Xia, Young Master Qin Xiu and his family have all come to wish you a Happy New Year," the security guard Xiao Yu reported as he jogged over, "I’ve counted, and there are twelve people."

"Twelve people, the Dingkang family, the Dinghai family, and the Dingbo family, that’s more than enough," Old Man Xia stood up and instructed Ye Jian to hurry and prepare fruit to entertain their guests.

Ye Jian was the only junior in the Fu family, so naturally, it was her responsibility to handle these matters.

In just a few minutes, Qin Dinghai, Qin Dingkang, and Qin Dingbo, the three brothers, arrived with the younger members of their family, and the spacious living room suddenly felt a bit crowded.

The entire family paid their respects to Old Man Xia, and several little ones even clung to his legs like ornaments, spouting auspicious phrases, which only made Old Man Xia even happier.

How wonderful the children are, how wonderful. Look, each one is so beautiful, so clever, and they all know how to speak.

As Old Madam Qin joked, Old Man Xia had prepared red envelopes, and as he handed them out one by one, the children’s joy increased even more.

Ye Jian also greeted the three Qin "uncles," and Ambassador Qin Dingkang looked at Ye Jian several times—now not only the name was familiar but also the face!

He had seen her before, he must have!

Absolutely seen her, no mistake!

Ye Jian had also changed clothes, having run for more than an hour, soaked in sweat, naturally, she needed a change.

Qin Xiu’s gaze turned to Ye Jian, who was busy attending to their family. The peace he constantly sought in his heart suddenly accelerated with a thump, thumping intensely a few times.

She was wearing a dress today.

In the past, he had only ever seen her in pants, looking smart and energetic. He had never seen her wearing a dress, appearing gentle and demure.

Following Qin Xiu’s gaze, Ye Jian looked down at the dress she was wearing. It seemed Qin Xiu also found it strange to see her in a dress.

She had no choice; she was persuaded by Grandpa Gen to change into one of the two dresses she had.

She found it strange, but both Old Man Xia and Chief Engineer Fu said it looked good, so she continued to wear it.

After pouring tea for Qin Xiu, Ye Jian saw him glance again and thought she might have stained her dress, so she quietly asked, "Did I stain it? Or does it look very strange?"

"No, no stain, it looks very nice," Qin Xiu hurriedly averted his gaze and added, "Happy New Year."

No stain, that’s good—it must just look strange. Ye Jian politely responded with a "Happy New Year" and decided not to say more to Qin Xiu. She sat down next to Old Man Xia to join the conversation.

Ambassador Qin Dingkang had also looked at Ye Jian several times, noticing the way Qin Xiu looked at her... and sighed to himself repeatedly.

Remembering what his wife had mentioned that morning, he frowned slightly, increasingly feeling that his wife must have misunderstood. It was clear that Ye Jian was a relative of the Fu family, highly regarded by both Old Man Xia and Fu Yusheng. How could she be as unsuitable as his wife suggested?

If she was related to the Fu family, then naturally, she would be close to Li Jinnian!

Regaining his focus, Qin Dingkang saw that Old Man Xia and his older brother Qin Dinghai were deep in conversation, so he started chatting with Chief Engineer Fu, "It’s been several years since we’ve seen each other, and this year you’ve returned a few days earlier than me."

"I haven’t come back for the New Year in several years; this year I’m back to spend the reunion with my father and my daughter," Chief Engineer Fu said cheerfully, also revealing Ye Jian’s identity in the process.
