Having left the hospital, Xia Jinyuan drove Ye Jian to the bustling area of the capital city, parking in a lively downtown spot bustling with people coming and going.

As soon as Ye Jian got out of the car, Xia Jinyuan took her hand. She rarely walked hand in hand with him outside like this, and today, dressed casually, they looked just like any other couple on the street.

When they arrived, Ye Jian stopped and looked up, "Is this the place you wanted to bring me to?"

She had assumed he would take her somewhere else. It turned out to be just a movie theater, which was quite a surprise, especially since they had never been to one together before.

"I thought you were going to take me somewhere very mysterious. With all this secrecy, a movie theater is one of the typical date spots for couples, so there’s no secret there," Ye Jian said, unable to resist teasing him, "Not very innovative."

"You just said a movie theater is one of the typical date spots for couples, so how about we play at being an ordinary couple today?" Xia Jinyuan touched his nose, hiding his embarrassment. He really lacked creativity and experience!

He had spent the previous night thinking of date ideas but ended up only with the movie theater, a classic date venue. The choice seemed foolproof!

"Of course," Ye Jian squeezed Xia Jinyuan’s hand as they walked into the cinema. "I’ve never watched a movie with you before. Are there any sci-fi or action movies? We could pick one of those."

She didn’t care much for the other genres.

Xia Jinyuan wasn’t fond of them either, but after all, it was a date, and they couldn’t exactly have a firefight on a date.

As they entered the cinema, their appearance and demeanor stood out among the crowd, instantly attracting many glances: men looked at Ye Jian and women at Xia Jinyuan, with side glances continuously drifting their way. Just walking to the ticket counter drew quite a bit of attention.

Xia Jinyuan remained composed; though he had never dated, he had always been a prominent figure, so such attention was nothing new.

What he considered now was which movie to watch.

Over the years, both of them had been in the military and often out on missions, rarely partaking in such common recreational activities. Neither knew which movie to pick.

The ticket seller, looking at the striking couple, spoke up, "This newly released romance movie is suitable for couples. Many couples choose this film, and there are only a few tickets left for the next session."

"How about this one?" Ye Jian exchanged glances with Xia Jinyuan and asked, "Everything else is full; we might as well choose this one, rather than making a wasted trip."

"I’m fine with anything." Anyway, he didn’t care what the movie was about; the important thing was that they could sit quietly together.

"Let’s go with this one then. Hello, we would like two tickets," Ye Jian turned to speak to the ticket seller and then hesitated to ask, "Are there really no seats left in other films?"

The ticket seller couldn’t help but smile, "Really, there are none left. If there were, we would definitely sell them." The young lady was quite beautiful and had a presence that seemed almost as if this was her first time at a movie theater.

And it really was their first time at the cinema, Ye Jian admitted, indeed unfamiliar with how things worked here.

Xia Jinyuan didn’t know either; Ye Jian handled the ticket buying while he took care of the payment.
