Reborn as the Top Omega Hunter: My Alpha Hears My Inner Thoughts [BL]
Chapter 28: New Challenge!
After saying so, he covered his ears with both hands. Just as he expected, that person pressed the flute to his lips; the next second, a piercing and eerie melody rang out through the woods. The sound wasn’t very loud, but it felt like a needle echoing straight into his mind.
Even though Jiang Zihan covered his ears, he could still hear that piercing sound bypassing his hands and echoing directly within the depths of his consciousness.
Suddenly, his eyes widened. The forest in front of him began to wrap and twist as though it had come alive. The trees suddenly started to move and rush toward him, as if the branches wanted to strike through his body.
He forced himself to ignore those trees and controlled the thread to wrap around Mo Shiyan so that they wouldn’t get lost when he noticed that Mo Shiyan had suddenly disappeared.
"Shiyan! Shiyan!!" He called his name, but there was no response. He seemed to be the only living thing in this place.
Jiang Zihan clenched his fist and bit on his lower lip, forcing himself to calm down. Everything in front of me is fake; I cannot be tricked so easily. They definitely don’t have the ability to teleport Mo Shiyan away with both of us not noticing, so it must be an illusion.
He tried to remember the details before everything began. It was the flute.
The moment he thought of that, the thick mist surrounding him suddenly disappeared, and the piercing sound of the flute continued to echo around the forest.
Seems like things went pretty successfully. Now I only have to find a way to break the illusion.
He took a deep breath and started to break the illusion. Normally, the best way to do so is to find where the person who created the illusion is and defeat him. Once the caster is subdued, the illusion would also disappear. However, it would be super difficult to do so if he couldn’t even trust himself (his senses).
But if it’s just an illusion... then the caster should still be at the same location.
He slowly closed his eyes. Abandoning his reliance on sight, he transferred his magical energy into the thread. The next second, the strands of thread spread outward like a spider web.
Suddenly, one of the threads went taut. Found him~
A light smile appeared on the corner of Jiang Zihan’s mouth as he gently pulled down that piece of strand.
BANG!
A heavy crash echoed through the forest, just like something had hit hard to the ground. In the next second, the flute’s melody stopped.
In the blink of an eye, everything returned to normal, and Mo Shiyan stood by his side, with a smell of blood on him. The minute Mo Shiyan appeared, he leaned toward his side, and Jiang Zihan immediately hugged him in his embrace.
"Are you okay? Can you still walk?" Jiang Zihan asked, his voice worried.
Mo Shiyan shook his head and nodded afterwards. "I’m okay..." he replied with a weak voice.
"Stop talking, save some energy," Jiang Zihan said as he transferred some magical energy into his body.
Why would Shiyan be injured this badly?
Jiang Zihan turned his head and noticed that the flute had fallen to the ground, and that person was already pinned to the tree by an arrow, losing consciousness.
The man standing in front of the tree narrowed his eyes, as he did not think that they would be able to defeat the caster so easily, but seeing that Mo Shiyan had been so injured, he immediately understood what happened.
He slowly walked toward them, with a strong aura surrounding him. "So... your companion is already badly injured. Are you still refusing to surrender?" he asked, completely ignoring the caution in Jiang Zihan’s eyes.
Jiang Zihan wanted to fight back when Mo Shiyan grabbed him tightly in his arm. Leaning closer, he whispered into Jiang Zihan’s ear, "Wait until he gets closer. You’ll attract his attention while I will attack from behind."
"Can your body still handle it?" Jiang Zihan asked.
"I’m fine. This is our only chance," Mo Shiyan replied. He leaned even closer toward Jiang Zihan, pretending that he had lost consciousness.
"But..."
Jiang Zihan turned his head and met Mo Shiyan’s eyes. Seeing the determination in it, he could only let out a sigh and agree to his plan.
He waited until that man had come closer before suddenly controlling the threads to coil around him. At first, that man just ignored it. He even let out a smile because he had watched Jiang Zihan’s battle with that person before, and had total confidence that those threads wouldn’t be effective on him, so he just let the threads wrap around him.
Seeing how arrogant he was, the smile on Jiang Zihan’s face became large. The next moment, that man’s expression changed.
"What... is this?"
He lowered his head and looked toward the threads that wrapped around his body. Those light purple strands suddenly began to glow, each one shining like a chain of stars woven across the night sky.
At the same time, complicated patterns suddenly emerged on the ground beneath Jiang Zihan’s feet.
Jiang Zihan: "...?"
He had expected his newly awakened ability to be pretty strong, but this seemed to be a bit... too flashy?
The surrounding space seemed to be torn apart by some unseen force, causing them to close their eyes. When they opened them again, the forest disappeared in front of them, and in its place, there was a vast sea of stars, as if they were in the galaxy.
What in the world is this?! Is this actually the new ability that I just unlocked?!!
Just as everyone’s attention was attracted by their surroundings, Mo Shiyan suddenly rushed forward, drawing the bowstring to full tension.
The next second, the arrow shot toward that man. He immediately felt it and tried to break free from the threads binding him. However, the strands of thread that he once thought would be easy to break had suddenly become tough.
