Reborn as the Genius Son of the Richest Family
Chapter 1438: Obscure spell?
Michael only took a few seconds of pause before smiled to the Mystic Masters and gave them a reassuring nod.
"I have recalled the spell," he said to them.
"HA!" one of them guffawed. He couldn’t help but laugh at the absurdity of his words. The overconfidence! Where did this young kid get it from? "Alright, then please do tell. What does this 9-star spell do?"
It was at this point that a slurry of words and formulas entered into his mind. ChatJK6 had heard about this 9-star spell before. It was in one of the books and scrolls that he found from scavenging millions upon millions of books trying to find information about Unity.
Amongst them all, he found only one paragraph describing the 9-star spell.
"Weaver’s Paradox," he recalled. "It is a 9-star spell that uses both the Light and Dark mana together to create a spell that would be able to change the result of a certain random event.
In simpler terms, with this spell you can change a random dice roll from a 1 to a 6. But of course, with this 9-star spell, you can do a lot lot more."
Hearing his explanation, the Mystic Masters’ couldn’t help but gasp out loud.
They didn’t think he’d actually know about this obscure spell, much less perfectly describe how it worked! He even knew that it needed both Light and Dark mana to be used! How could he have known that?!
"That’s why it’s fallen out of style," Michael continued. "There hasn’t been a Mystic Master in the Guild of Arcana who has mastery in both Light and Dark mana since a century ago."
At this point, Lucy and the Mystic Masters were stunned into silence. And at that point, that should have been enough. It should have been enough evidence to show that he knew what he was talking about. He had completed the objective of the test.
However, Michael wanted to add a little bit more flair. Why? To impress the people.
"I don’t know the necessary formulas required to create the magic spell. But I guess that it makes use of the Prism Hypothesis added with the Refractory Constant. Maybe they’ve even added in a bit of some supreme shadow spell in here to balance out the light from being too bright..."
Michael continued to list out his guesses as to how the spell was constructed.
And much to the surprise of the Mystic Masters, he was actually correct! Every single one of his hypotheses had an inkling of truth in it. The only difference his words had against the real thing were the specifics and the technical stuff, like symbol placement and other such things.
But overall, he had the general idea understood instinctively.
This showed that Michael wasn’t just familiar with this obscure 9-star spell. He was actually proficient and knowledgeable about most 9-star spells to be able to make such educated guesses like that .
His understanding was nothing less than a Mystic Master!
They couldn’t believe it. Absolutely stunned into silence.
And even though the rest of the crowd knew nothing about the Mystic Arts, they knew the look on those Mystc Masters’ faces. They knew that Michael had hit the topic straight on its head!
"Is that sufficient enough, or should I go into more specifics?" he asked them.
One of the Mystic Masters stood up, stumbling as he did so. "You... you have passed the test...."
They looked absolutely defeated. They never thought they’d get outsmarted by a kid! Seberus always warned them of Michael’s talent. But they just didn’t believe it. And now, perhaps they should have paid him better attention.
Meanwhile, Lucy looked like he was at his limits. His face was twitching uncomfortably as he tried to maintain a smiling expression. But his mask was slipping, bit by bit.
"I have shown my knowledge of the Mystic Arts. Therefore, I have the qualifications to ask a question to the Eye of Truth, correct? You said it yourself, sir Lucy."
Lucy’s face darkened, but his stiff smile remained. "That... is right."
He raised his hand, trembling, as he summoned another Eye of Truth.
With this 9-star spell, Michael then turned towards the Nascent Spirit captive kneeling in front of him. "I’m going to ask him questions regarding this attack.
For my first question, who sent you to terrorize this event?"
And there it was. Checkmate. Michael had won.
But of course, as part of their agreement, Lucy had made sure that Worcester’s assassins knew nothing about his and the Guilds’ involvement about the terrorist attack.
So, when Michael asked the assassin his question, then his answer would inevitably put Worcester in a worse spot.
Immediately, Worcester moved. His Nascent Armor manifested for a brief instance, before he sent out a killing Sword Intent towards his own agent in the hope of silencing his soul before it could tell the truth.
But suddenly, a bright white shield appeared to deflect the attack.
Lucy stood up, showing a graceful attitude. He was the one who defended the assassin from the attack.
And so, both Lucy and Worcester looked at each other. And in that single glance, they knew that their temporary alliance had ceased.
Lucy only made sure that the assassin wasn’t killed because he was confident that he wouldn’t get implicated. Only Worcester.
But if the assassin was killed now, then it would look like Lucy had silenced the assassin so that he wouldn’t get implicated, which would paint him very guilty.
Worcester knew that, that’s why he attacked quickly. But unfortunately for him, Lucy was faster.
"My leader Worcester has instructed me to cause chaos in the racing circuit. He told me to pretend to be from the Ersatz organization."
Gasps and shouts erupted from the crowd. They couldn’t believe the scandalous revelation that they had just witnessed!
Worcester was the one who planned this from the very beginning?! He even planned to use the Ersatz as a scapegoat?!
This was extremely shameful. The 1st ranked heir of the Oscorpe Conglomerate was such a despicable person?!
