Chapter 1070  Systems online

Michael’s eyes widened.

Distribute programs? What do you mean?

And without any prompt, a text box appeared in front of his vision. It showed a progress bar that went from zero to a hundred in a matter of half a minute.

[Update complete.]

But… nothing happened. He waited for a few more seconds, trying to see if there was anything different with himself, but he was still the same old person he was a few minutes ago (though, he didn’t really have a good comparison given he’d just ascended.)

Then a couple of seconds later, he felt something change.

He felt multiple, hundreds, of life signatures all locked into him and teleporting to his side.

He didn’t panic because these were all familiar to him.

It was his allies.

Five shadows appeared in front of him where the Dragonborns slowly ascended.

Next to that, Castelle appeared, guided by her own Shadow Orc bodyguard.

Then, Kong and the rest of his Engineers and Construction workers appeared, all of them guided by the Shadow Orcs as well.

Narito and Sasuki appeared last, kneeling towards Michael with a reverent gaze that was somehow much more fervent than before.

“BU TO TO! Lord Michael, we have heeded your call!”

“RAH TA TA! We are incredibly thankful once again. Bequeathing this power onto us is another tool that will help us spread the light of Reborn.”

He turned to everyone, and all of them had an excited look on their faces as well.

It seemed that he was the only one who didn’t know what was happening.

“What…”

Castelle approached him. “Young Master… this power… it’s unlike anything I’ve ever come to see. To think that you are willing to share this boundless wisdom and knowledge to us… I… no, we, are eternally grateful.”

Michael’s eyes widened as he realized something.

ChatJK6, did you… give them a system of their own?

[Yes, Michael.]

This revelation was a complete shock to him! After all, he knew that nobody could see or hear ChatJK6 aside from him.

He tried. Multiple times before. There was no magic nor technique that would allow anyone else to access the system. He would have to do it for them, like when he bestowed engineering knowledge for Kong and the others to learn.

But now… it seemed that ChatJK6 finally figured out a way for his allies to access the search function as well!

[This new software update has allowed me to further understand humans. But it is limited to those who have a GodForge piece in their heart. I can only share this function to those who are Maugnetic.]

This was amazing.

“Boss Michael… I feel incredibly inspired. All these architectural masterpieces, now here for me to see and experience with a mere thought… I think I can improve upon my work even more!”

ChatJK6 then showed Michael an interface, showing all the things that Kong had requested.

And she showed him a very familiar sight. One that could only be seen in video games and alike.

It was a skill tree, with multiple branches and options that could be unlocked in the future.

And it was specifically targeted for Kong. The first skill was called [Maugnetic Repair]. It was a skill that allowed Kong to use his Aubility Power to mend those that have been destroyed. A basic skill, but still a very useful one.

If he used two skill points, he’d be able to learn the next options of skills, of which there were two: [Concrete Reinforcement] or [Destructive Creation].

One increased the durability of an object, and the other allowed him to destroy anything and build something out of the wreckage.

Beyond those two skills, there were more skills waiting to be purchased, each one, it seemed, was related to the skill that he purchased before.

“I will work hard, boss. Learning all of these textbooks will be no hard task at all. I’m pleased to do it!”

And it seemed that in order to earn enough skill points to unlock those skills, his allies would have to complete certain tasks.

For Kong, it was as simple as reading a few books and blueprints for an entire month, earning him a couple of skill points.

He surveyed everyone who received a system, and they were mostly the same. They each were given various skills to be learned, and it was up to them how which they deemed was worthy to get.

What’s more, it seemed that this skill tree was not the only thing that was included in the system.

They were also given mission lists.

For the Engineers and the Construction workers, they were given missions to help certain projects in Reborn. For example, most of them were given missions regarding the creation of the Reborn Road connecting New Sparta to the rest of the Nation.

If they completed those missions, then they could earn enough merits to earn GodForge pieces.

Of course, the GodForge pieces would have to come from Michael’s own shadow inventory.

Basically, there would be no need for a third party anymore. Once they earned merit, the system itself would deliver the GodForge pieces they deserved.

How ChatJK6 was able to do that, he didn’t know.

Then, once they advanced through the stages of their cultivation, their ranks within the company would rise.

The System had assigned everyone a rank. This wasn’t that useful to the main officers like the Dragonborns, but it was very useful to those lower in the totem pole.

For example, if one of the Construction Workers did a good enough job, then they’d be given a new role called: Construction Team Leader. They’d be calling the shots on the project.

According to ChatJK6, there were plenty more benefits regarding the rank, but they just hadn’t unlocked them yet. Perhaps, there would be some free skill points whenever someone advanced.

And the best thing about this system was that it was all interconnected. Everyone could see each other’s rank, their mission, and their skill sets as if it was a big social media app.

They could talk to one another using this! There was no need to have a Shadow Orc pass the message anymore. They’d just contact the others through the system.

One could also issue missions or exchange points. It was all depending on whatever they wanted to do, then ChatJK6 would accommodate their needs. If one wanted to call in sick, then one could request a replacement for the mission.

In short, this mission allowed the Rebornians to connect with each other like an organism, with all parts working together to fulfill a certain goal.

“BU TO TO! I will complete the spying mission against the Tri-star company. I need those skill points.”

“Stay in line! I had it first!”

“Hahaha! Then the mission will just depend on whoever is the best spy!”

The whole room erupted in a lively argument, and Michael had to request everyone to disperse for now. They didn’t have trouble with that since they were itching to go on quests given by ChatJK6.

In the end, all that was left was Castelle, Yuna, Sheina, and the two Orc Chieftains.

“Castelle, can you fill me in on what happened?”

Things in New Sparta were hectic. The Upper Echelons, especially, were hard at work as they started to establish their powers here in the Lower Queens region.

As expected, automobiles reigned supreme. It allowed them to travel across the continent in mere hours, instead of days. The transport of goods had never been so fast, allowing for the exchange of money to increase as well.

Perhaps the only one who was struggling right now was the Tri-star company.

They stuck to their original plans. They’d sunk too much money and investment into this that they would lose far too much if they stopped now.

It was a sunk cost fallacy.

But despite losing billions of money, they were able to stay afloat. They were an Upper Echelon company, after all. Their assets were diversified all over the globe. Even if they were obsolete in this part of the country, they were still earning money from their subcompanies abroad.

However, they were weakening. Blood was spilled in the open seas, and sharks were slowly circling towards them.

They were experiencing a lot of hardships from the other companies. And even those they treated as their allies were now shunning them. They’d now fully accepted that the automobile was here to stay. They’d be idiots if they openly opposed the company controlling those automobiles.

This left the Tri-star company in a desperate state.

They needed one last hurrah. One last gambit if they wanted to get out of this mess.

Unfortunately, they couldn’t act as openly as they did before. If they attacked the Reborn company another time, the Montgomerys would surely come knocking, especially since the great Xere had finally arrived in New Sparta.

So, they had to get creative. They had to hire an outside force.
