Chapter 1025 Conglomerate difference
Chapter 1025 Conglomerate difference
Meanwhile, down at the arena, the new Conglomerate visitors were given their own private VIP area to see the Sanctum Duels in full view.
Gabriel Vanderbilt charged through the Vanderbilt guards, jostling past their shoulders roughly, before he finally arrived at his father’s private space.
As expected of Conglomerates, this VIP area they had wasn’t actually in the Colosseum. It was a Pocket Dimension, one that could be picked up and plopped into another space easily, much like a mobile home.
The Pocket Dimension itself was as big as a mansion, with all the luxuries and amenities one would expect that a royal or a King would have. Except, it was all for a Vanderbilt. And not just any Vanderbilt, it was actually for one of the main sons of Yze Vanderbilt. Gabriel’s father was high up on the ranking to actually still be in the running for inheriting the entirety of the Vanderbilt company.
“Father,” Gabriel angrily harrumphed. “Why are you here?”
A man with a full black beard sat in his Office Throne, looking over some paperwork with his secretary and butler behind him.
“Can’t I visit my son?”
Gabriel crossed his arms. “Stop it. I know something is happening. Otherwise, I wouldn’t see the entirety of the Upper Echelons interfering in the business of the Lower Echelons.”
Gabriel’s father sighed and stood up, his secretary coming over to his seat and continuing his work.
“Listen, Gabriel. Things are happening in the background of New Sparta, things that are so important that it could decide whether we live in chaos or live in prosperity for the entirety of our lifetimes.”
Gabriel frowned. “Then tell me. You always say you’re fighting evil. You’re fighting for the preservation of the Ancient Era and Maugnetics themselves. But you never include me in them.”
His father shook his head. “You are not ready. I thought, if you did a great job here in New Sparta, you would be ready to tackle this great responsibility.
But it is unfortunate. Things are progressing way too fast for us to be lackadaisical. They have forced our hand. We need to act now or else they’ll have conquered the entirety of New Sparta before we even know it. Thankfully, it seemed that someone was able to blow a huge hole in their plans, giving us plenty of time to set up here in New Sparta.
So do yourself a favor and go and do whatever it is you want. I will deal with the problems here in New Sparta. Go be with your friends. Your girlfriend. Our alliance with the Hepheasteus line thanks to Neytiri will be crucial to our plans.”
Gabriel balled his fist. “She’s not just a way for you to advance your ambitions.”
His father shook his head. “That’s your immaturity speaking. Once you know the gravity of the situation we are dealing with, then you’ll know that we can’t afford to be emotional. We need all the strength we can get to fight—”
“To fight against evil. Yeah, I get it,” Gabriel scoffed. He’d heard that a million times before. But he could never understand it. He never wanted to.
“Speaking of which… I’ve heard a very interesting story. A demi-human Maugnetic?”
His father walked up to him, putting his hand on his shoulder.
“A demi-human Maugnetic is the trump card we’ve been waiting for for all this time. They could turn the tides against those rats.
And from what I’ve heard from your guards, it seems that you became close friends with a member of that Reborn company, right? Keo, was it?
I want you to arrange a meeting with us. Tell him I want to meet their leader.”
Gabriel immediately shook himself off from his father’s grasp. “You cannot do that. You can’t buy my friend’s company!”
His father walked forward. “Tell him that we are willing to pay the price no matter what. A million Sand Dollars, ten million. It doesn’t matter.”
Gabriel was disgusted with his father’s ways. This wasn’t the first time he ‘swallowed’ a company he desired. But that was just how Conglomerates worked. They were sharks.
“No,” Gabriel decisively answered.
“Come on, son. This is for the best. They will get enough money to change their whole lives, living almost like the Upper Echelon. Not only that, but they will also be part of the Vanderbilt conglomerate. Money, power, and fame. They could achieve all of that.”
“In exchange for what?”
His father shrugged. “In exchange for their demi-human Maugnetic. We will be borrowing their talent, making them stronger, so that they can help us defeat the rats. They will be our student, studying our way of life, and becoming our knight.”
Gabriel turned around, no longer wanting to hear any of his father’s excuses.
But his father took his wrist and stopped him in place.
“This is more important than pride, Gabriel. The demi-human has already painted a target on her back. Just like how we know she’ll be our greatest strength, the enemy knows that she’ll be their greatest weakness. They will kill her. Only I can prevent that. We are dealing with powers greater than you can think of. A measly Lower Echelon company can’t protect an asset as important as her. They need the power of a Conglomerate. They need us.”
Despite his father’s impassioned plea, Gabriel disagreed.
“You should already know this, Gabriel. The Upper Echelon and the Lower Echelon are a mountain range apart in abilities.
And the Upper Echelons and the Conglomerates are a Heaven and Earth in difference. Case in point.”
His father pointed towards the large glass wall on the other side of the room.
This was their Viewing Deck with a straight view towards the Sanctum Duel.
And right now, the ones fighting were the Purveiyour Tribe and one of the Conglomerate representatives. Since the Purveiyour Tribe were the ones who started the Archery Competition in the first place, it was only natural that they were the best at it. Otherwise, they would have chosen a different tournament.
They were the obvious winners. And unlike the previous Archery Tournament, this bracket included the best of the best, from the 9th stage of Body Formation to the 5th stage.
And it was a team game too.
Right now, the group of Werewolf Archers were completely dominating the competition.
They rained arrow after arrow towards their opponents. Even the coral-like trees that littered through the Sanctum couldn’t obscure their vision of the battlefield. The Werewolves’ immense strength allowed their arrows to pierce through even the toughest of metals.
“These Werewolves are skilled, but they simply lack the resources that our Conglomerates can offer.” And true enough, the Conglomerate Archers finally made their move. With their Divas manifested above their heads, they began to charge forwards in complete synchronicity.
Then, they took out a pill from their pockets and swallowed it whole.
Suddenly, their magical prowess soared. They raised their hands, magic circles appearing in the sky.
Glowing clouds manifested in the air, before pillars of light suddenly rained down towards the Werewolves, illuminating them from up above.
They were highlighted! They were now in full view!
And after that, what happened was a complete and utter dismantling of the Werewolves.
The Conglomerates used their higher quality armors, their endless amount of pills, and their seamless communication to completely outclass their opponents.
“That’s the difference,” Gabriel’s father said. “It’s just a matter of resources.”
By the end, the entire Colosseum was completely silent.
They knew that the Conglomerates were a lot stronger than normal companies. But this was in a completely different scale and level. The Purveiyor company couldn’t even land a single shot—even though, throughout this tournament, they seemed completely invincible!
After this, everyone was completely sure that the Conglomerates would completely dominate the tournament.
“We had to get serious,” Gabriel’s father said. “In order to show our prowess to everybody. They must know the difference.”
Gabriel kept his mouth shut. Even he couldn’t believe how powerful the Upper Echelon was compared to the Lower Echelons. It seemed completely unsurmountable.
“Now that you know, you must heed my request. You don’t have to say it yourself, but you must arrange a meeting with me and the leader of Reborn.”
Gabriel bit his lips. But eventually, he shook his head. “If you want to do something, then do it yourself. I’m just going to do whatever I want, right?”
And with those words, Gabriel left the room.
His father was left shaking his head in disappointment. Was he not convinced enough of the Conglomerate’s prowess? The Ersatz were equal with them. So if the Lower Echelon couldn’t even deal with the weakest Conglomerate, then they had no chance against them.
But it doesn’t matter. They would learn sooner or later.
He looked back at his office throne and got back to dealing with his paperwork.
And while he was in the middle of his work, he heard Claudia from the arena announce the next fighters.
“Brownbloods Tribe versus the Conglomerate Representatives!”
But instead of Werewolves, Elves instead walked out of the Brownblood camp.
And on their backs were strange, metallic bows unlike anything Gabriel’s father had ever seen before.
