Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 2488 - 2391: Menacing Arrival

When Gu Xu received the call, he was busy handling a huge pile of work. Song Hui had run off to Luofu Mountain, turned off his phone, and ignored everything, leaving Gu Xu to suffer.

While answering the call, Gu Xu continued flipping through the contract documents, asking:

"Honey, you’ve arrived in Yun Province, right? This morning, Yu Fei called me, and I accidentally let slip that you went to Yun Province. Did he reach out to you? If you’re busy, just ignore him and do your own thing. That guy is just a troublemaker."

Huo Sining laughed but didn’t mention Yu Fei, instead, she explained about arriving at Wu Jun’s hometown and what she encountered at the tea plantation:

"Things are a bit complicated. This Boss De, I don’t know who he is, but he seems to have some powerful backing and is rumored to be involved in a homicide case. Now that this matter has been brought up, I can’t just let it go lightly. I won’t let Boss De off easily."

Gu Xu laughed, "Just a pest. If you want to investigate, go ahead. Do what you want; if you mess him up, I’ll handle it."

Huo Sining curved her lips slightly, "Alright, with your assurance, I’m good to go. That’s it, I’m hanging up."

After hanging up, Huo Sining walked calmly back to the gatehouse, as if nothing had happened, only nodding subtly when Wu Jun looked her way.

On the other side, after Gu Xu hung up Huo Sining’s call, he pondered for a moment and then picked up the phone, found a number and called.

"Old Tian, it’s me."

After waiting for a full hour, with Huo Sining yawning nonstop, the engine sound of cars finally echoed from outside. She turned her head to look out the gatehouse window and saw a large convoy speeding in from the new cement road, heading directly towards the tea plantation.

Huo Sining laughed lightly, put down the cup in her hand, stood up slowly, and smiled at Wu Jun:

"They’re finally here. If they hadn’t come, I would’ve gone out to find them myself!"

The old guard felt a bit fearful, worried that chatting with these outsiders might upset Boss De, so he quickly ran out from the gatehouse, distancing himself from the three of them, declaring his stance.

As soon as he ran outside, seeing the cars parked and the people getting off, he was stunned.

The old man rubbed his eyes, and upon recognizing the identities of those people, he was terrified and immediately shrank back. His face turned pale, and scared, he ran deep into the tea plantation to hide and disappear.

Observing the old man’s behavior, Wu Jun felt puzzled, stood up and walked outside, and upon seeing the situation, furrowed his brows.

At that moment, on the concrete area outside the tea plantation’s iron fence stood over a hundred burly men in black, each holding metal pipes and knives, completely surrounding the gatehouse.

These men looked fierce and dangerous.

Even though Wu Ya had seen Wu Jun’s skills, she was trembling with fear seeing this, face full of shock, instinctively gripping Huo Sining’s arm tightly and whispered:

"Sister Ningning, there’s no way my brother can take on so many people. We should run!"

Though Huo Sining remained calm, she considered the mess, and what if someone accidentally hurt Wu Ya, that wouldn’t be good.

So she frowned slightly and instinctively said:

"Yaya, things are a bit complex right now. Go into the tea plantation, find a place to hide for now, and don’t lose your phone. I’ll call you when needed. Unless I ask you, don’t come out."

Saying this, Huo Sining pushed the young girl out the gatehouse’s back door, catching her off guard, pushing her into the tea plantation.

This unexpected action left the young girl anxious, instinctively pounding on the gatehouse door.

But Huo Sining wouldn’t let the girl accompany them into danger, so she ignored her cries.

"Hurry, find somewhere to hide. You want me and your brother to worry about you in a situation like this? Don’t drag your brother down; be sensible!"

Huo Sining lowered her voice and instructed sternly.

Stunned, Wu Ya didn’t dare continue her tantrum, looking tearfully at the gatehouse before resolutely turning and running deep into the tea plantation.

Wu Jun’s face also turned a bit grave.

He expected Boss De to come, but didn’t think he’d summon so many people in such a short time.

If it were just him, such numbers wouldn’t concern him; even doubling them, he could escape safely. His title of former Special Forces Soldier King wasn’t self-proclaimed, and his skills hadn’t waned over the years; handling these men would be easy.

But now, beside him were Huo Sining and Wu Ya, two women with no combat capability.

Outside, there seemed to be around a hundred thugs, and they were armed. No matter how skilled he was, two fists couldn’t defeat four hands. If chaos ensued and conflict erupted, he wouldn’t be able to protect Huo Sining and Wu Ya safely.

Perhaps noticing Wu Jun’s serious and tense expression, Huo Sining just smiled. Compared to Wu Jun, the Soldier King, she seemed even calmer, showing a demeanor of facing danger without changing her expression — a quality not often seen in young women.

Wu Jun wasn’t necessarily afraid; having participated in numerous S-Level Missions during his time with Falcon, he walked out of a mound of corpses—a reason he wouldn’t be thrown off by this relatively small setup.

But Huo Sining was different, a young woman able to remain composed in such situations, which left Wu Jun surprised and astonished.

Huo Sining sat in the gatehouse casually, watching the crowd outside draw nearer. After thinking for a while, she smiled at Wu Jun:

"Sitting here inside the house won’t work. This door won’t hold this vicious crowd back. Rather than waiting, we should go out. We’ll sooner or later have to confront them directly."

Huo Sining pointed with a smile at the gatehouse’s ramshackle door and chuckled.

The door was kindly closed by the old guard earlier, but Huo Sining knew well hiding inside was futile. Given the thugs’ fierce momentum, they’d definitely smash the door and rush in.

Sure enough, shortly after, some thugs began banging on the door.
