Chapter 1999: Chapter 2001: The Government Office Has Arrived

People who live here are generally not very wealthy, and they only bring along so much travel money.

Being temporarily asked to stay, without knowing how long they’ll have to remain, everyone feels uneasy and can’t help but curse the person who reported them.

"Isn’t that so? This might have alerted the authorities, and if they find out who reported, I’m afraid things might go badly for them!"

"Leaving all of us behind, they probably figured out that the reporter is among us examinees."

"If it really is an examinee, and if they do find out, it might ruin their future prospects."

Young Lord Liu came in from outside and heard these words, his face turning pale with fright.

He never expected things to escalate so much; he just wanted to vent his dissatisfaction and give Yang Ming a lesson.

He absolutely did not want to ruin his own future!

As soon as Young Lord Liu came in, everyone noticed him.

"Brother Liu, you couldn’t leave the city either, right? Looks like we have to stay here again, not knowing how long. Damn that person who reported us! Do you have enough money?"

Young Lord Liu now looked terrified and didn’t have the leisure to exchange pleasantries.

He only said a word, "Enough."

Then he found Xiao’er and asked for the same room he had before, and then hurriedly went upstairs.

"What’s with Young Lord Liu today? Why did he go straight upstairs? Usually, he loves to talk."

"Exactly, he’s usually the most talkative about these matters."

"Maybe he ran out of silver."

"..."

"..."

Everyone speculated, and Yang Ming didn’t want to continue the conversation with these people, so he cupped his hands and took his leave.

Going upstairs with Xiaoxiao, they saw that Young Lord Liu’s door and windows were tightly shut.

Xiaoxiao scoffed, "He’s scared! If he knew it would come to this, why did he do it in the first place?"

Xiaoxiao’s words entered Young Lord Liu’s ears without missing a beat.

He sat there at the time, his face turning blue and pale, afraid the government office would come for him.

Despite the circulating rumors, Xiaoxiao and Yang Ming were unconcerned, thinking about where to go for fun the next day!

Being unfamiliar with the area, they called Xiao’er.

As soon as he heard, Xiao’er immediately started to introduce.

"You’ve come to the right person for this, my dear guests. I don’t know about other things, but if you want to know where to have fun, I’m the expert."

Xiao’er bragged extensively, and Xiaoxiao fetched a few big coins from her pocket, "Alright, don’t keep us in suspense, just tell us."

"Ah, alright!" Xiao’er nodded and bent over happily.

"Speaking of our Capital City, during times like these, the annual poetry competition is the most bustling. Just after the exams, there are many scholars like you, and wealthy folks host such events."

Upon hearing this, Xiaoxiao wasn’t very interested but wasn’t sure if Yang Ming would like it since he was somewhat of a bookworm.

"Husband, do you want to go?"

Yang Ming shook his head and asked, "Xiao’er, are there other places to visit?"

He understood well what his wife liked after these two years; she disliked anything scholarly or formal.

Xiao’er then mentioned places like Five Buddha Mountain, Taibai Lake, Bamboo Grove Manor, all scenic spots.

Or places like the Opera Garden.

After Xiao’er left, Xiaoxiao then went to discuss with Yang Qiu, asking where they wanted to go.

But before they could say much, a commotion erupted downstairs, and they heard Xiao’er shouting in the corridor.

"Please, all guests, come out! The government office is here."
