Chapter 1776: Chapter 1327:

In the villagers’ minds, there was hardly any gossip.

So, to keep the whole family from getting dragged down by Xu Chunxia, Father Xu was dead set on keeping an eye on her.

As for what would happen next, they’d figure it out then!

Du Juan: "What are we supposed to do now?"

Xu Chunwang: "Why are you rambling? This mess was caused by that money-drainer, and if they come to our house to arrest anyone, it’ll be her, not any of us. Has nothing to do with our family."

"Exactly, what does it have to do with us?! As long as we keep her from running off, the kid’s family shouldn’t blame us!" Wang Xinger chimed in.

Xu Chunlai nodded, "Your sister-in-law’s right, we’ve got to keep a close watch on that damn girl."

Everything the Xu family said, Xu Chunxia heard loud and clear from inside the room, but she wasn’t scared one bit.

First of all, she’d given birth to the child, and she was just bringing her own son back to her mother’s home—what could the Hu family complain about?

Second, did the Hu family really want people to know their grandson had a mom who’d been to prison?

Thinking like that calmed Xu Chunxia’s nerves a lot; she figured Kang Li was just trying to frighten her.

But would things really go the way Xu Chunxia imagined, with the Hu family caring that she was their grandson’s biological mother, so they’d just let it slide that she’d conspired with others to sneak away with Xiao Yuhang?

The answer, of course, was no.

Sure enough, Hu’s father showed up at Aoli Village, accompanied by his staff and police from the provincial capital near Kang Li’s hometown.

The villagers led them to the Xu family, and as soon as they arrived, Xu Chunxia was restrained by the police.

"Let me go! Why are you arresting me? What did I do wrong?"

Xu Chunxia struggled, trying to break free from the police.

"Behave yourself!"

One of the officers barked.

The Xu family was scared out of their wits by the sight of Hu’s father and his people—huddling together, not daring to say a word.

"Dad! Dad, it’s me, Chunxia! I just took the kid home to visit my family, did you really have to call the cops to arrest me? Dad! Dad, please ask the officers to let me go!"

Realizing there was no escape, Xu Chunxia cried and begged Hu’s father to have mercy, but unfortunately, he just looked at her coldly, watching as she was put into the police car, then followed the village cadres over to the Kang Family.

"Grandpa!"

Seeing Hu’s father, Xiao Yuhang shouted right away, reaching out his tiny arms to be picked up.

"Grandpa’s here!"

Hu’s father’s eyes were damp, but he replied, holding his grandson, and then thanked Kang Li sincerely.

"You’re too kind!" Kang Li smiled and said, "My three little ones recognized Yuhang at the gate, and when I heard from them who he was, I thought to call Grandpa Xi to confirm."

After hearing this, Hu’s father squatted down with Xiao Yuhang and thanked the three Bun siblings just as sincerely: "Grandpa Hu thanks you three!"

"You’re welcome!"

The three Buns all shook their heads together.

Hu’s father didn’t stay long in Aoli Village. After he called home so Xiao Yuhang could speak to Mrs. Hu, he got in the car with his grandson and left, along with the police car holding Xu Chunxia.

"Will Chunxia be sentenced?"

Cai Xiufen asked Kang Li.

"What she did broke the law. She’s definitely going to be sentenced."

As for how long, that depended on how the Hu family handled it.

"How could Chunxia do something like that?" Cai Xiufen couldn’t wrap her head around it, shaking her head. "She had a perfectly good life and didn’t want it, made a fuss about divorce, and then wanted to steal the kid? She must be crazy."

Kang Li stayed quiet, just listening to Cai Xiufen continue: "Do you know what kind of family she married into?"

"I never heard anybody mention it, but if she could marry into the Hu family, Lady Fang must have helped." Same courtyard, and only Fang Su would think of finding Xu Chunxia a ’well-matched’ husband.

But Kang Li suspected there was a story there, nine times out of ten.

Because, according to what she knew of Xu Chunxia, if she’d really landed a good man, and his family lived in such a big courtyard, there’d be no way Xu Chunxia would agree to a divorce!

Plus, if the guy wasn’t a little off, with his family background, would his parents let him marry a farm girl who barely knew any characters?

It’s not that she looked down on the Hu family, just thinking about it—if she were Hu’s father or mother, knowing Xu Chunxia had no real merits, she sure wouldn’t let her in.

So, most likely, the problem was with Xiao Yuhang’s dad.

And whatever the problem was, it was big enough that Xu Chunxia couldn’t stand living in the Hu family long-term.

...

Time flew by, tomorrow was Grandpa Kang’s birthday, and today, except for Kang Yiyang who was studying abroad and couldn’t make it home, Second Brother Kang and Kang Guoan’s families had all arrived.
