Reborn As A Villainous Cannon Fodder

Chapter 598: Ch 598 - The Demoness of the Divine Abyss Gate Vs Yino

"Yino is right. Please sit down Sister. It just so happens I wanted to explain my cultivation session with him last night," Yuyan said with a warm smile. She didn’t notice the timidity in her friend’s eyes.

She patted the seat beside her to signal her not to be a stranger.

Zhihan pursed her red lips awkwardly. She already felt uncomfortable seeing him. Now that Yuyan mentioned what happened last night, her face immediately flushed with shame.

"Look here Sister Zhihan." Once she sat back down, Yuyan resumed her meditation and condensed her sword intent.

In an instant, she displayed the Divine Transformation stage cultivation she had been practicing. Even her body slowly emitted a chilling imposing sword intent.

Pei Zhihan bathed in that icy sword intent. The beautiful eyes that had just been wandering with wild thoughts were inevitably shaken.

Yuyan asked, "Take a look. Hasn’t my sword intent grown significantly since we met yesterday?"

"It really has." Zhihan focused her senses carefully. By her estimation, Yuyan’s cultivation had broken through from the third level of the Divine Transformation stage to the sixth level in just a single night. What kind of terrifying cultivation speed was this?

"You shouldn’t be too surprised sister. My husband and I practiced abstinent cultivation for several months before this. That’s why we were able to boost my cultivation so rapidly when we finally broke the ban and cultivated intimately last night."

Yuyan smiled in embarrassment. She raised a hand and retracted the sword intent into her body.

Zhihan looked at her, then at Yino standing nearby. A hint of envy was impossible to hide in her eyes. "Even so, your cultivation speed is incredibly fast... it really is great to be young."

She offered her congratulations, but her aloof face couldn’t completely hide her melancholy and frustration.

She had been stuck in the Tribulation Crossing stage for nearly a hundred years, after all.

Watching the new generation of heaven-chosen juniors grow so rapidly that they would inevitably surpass her left a bitter envious taste in her mouth.

"Why belittle yourself like this? Perhaps your Opportunity will arrive very soon." Yuyan seemed to notice the sadness in the black-clad woman’s eyes. She realized her showing off had been hurtful and hurriedly tried to smooth things over.

Zhihan shook her head with a wry smile. "I’ve traveled the world for nearly a century in search of my Heavenly Mandate. Unfortunately, Fortune makes fools of us all. My cultivation will likely stop right here."

The once-revered number one sword master in the world had actually fallen to such a state of self-deprecation. Yuyan simply sat there listening, lightly biting her lower lip in sympathy.

She grew anxious. She didn’t know what to say. Growing up without parents and with very few friends meant she had no idea how to comfort others.

Consequently, she lifted her head and shot a pleading glance at Yino who was leaning against the wall. He understood perfectly and gave a faint smile.

"They say great talents mature late. I heard the cold waves will recede next spring and summer, and the Northern Region’s ruins will no longer be sealed off. They will reopen to the public. Perhaps that ruin holds an Opportunity belonging to Lady Pei, just waiting for us to uncover it."

He spread his hands as he spoke. He aimed these words at Yuyan just as much as he did at Zhihan. The Northern Region’s ruins were already on his planned itinerary.

On the other side, Yuyan suddenly realized something. "Yino is right! Maybe the Northern Region’s ruins hold an Opportunity for you! Yino and I will naturally head there as well to explore alongside you!"

She spoke with utmost sincerity. However, Pei Zhihan widened her eyes in astonishment at those words. "Are you two planning to go to the Northern Region together?"

"Of course. We planned it long ago!"

"But the Northern Region is an Eight Desolations ancient battlefield. It has no shortage of dormant greater demon and monsters. It would be far too dangerous for the two of you."

This sudden plan to travel together left Pei Zhihan feeling quite flattered, as she had always been a loner. Feeling somewhat flustered, she tried to dissuade the two juniors from risking their lives alongside her. Yet before she could finish speaking, Yuyan grabbed her hand.

"Having an extra friend on the road means another possibility for an Opportunity. Besides, Yino and I are still young. We desperately need a Senior with transcendent sword Dao like you to guide us when we seek opportunities in a dangerous place like the Northern Region!"

....

"Tomorrow’s tournament schedule is as follows."

"Jianlan Sect’s Lin Che versus Jianlan Sect’s Holy Son Ji Zichen."

"Wuji Sect’s He Yino versus Divine Abyss Gate’s heaven’s chosen, Wen Ruzhi!"

Evening had arrived, bringing the first round of the tournament to a close. The host of the Immortal Alliance Pavilion once again held up the heavenly tome to announce tomorrow’s schedule.

The numerous Disciples in the audience listened to the lineup and immediately broke into excited discussions.

"Tomorrow’s match between He Yino and that demoness from the Divine Abyss Gate will definitely be worth watching!"

"He Yino? You mean that dark horse genius who scared a Frost Palace Inner Disciple so badly he peed himself with just one burst of sword intent this morning?"

"That guy is truly ridiculous. To force a Nascent Soul stage like Zhou Qi to surrender directly out of fear, his true strength has probably reached the Divine Transformation stage!"

"So what if he’s in the Divine Transformation stage? In my opinion, Yino might not be a match for Wen Ruzhi!" a bruised and swollen know-it-all spoke up mildly from the back of the crowd.

Everyone turned to look in surprise. "Aren’t you that cannon fodder guy who was acting so smug before the first round, only to get beaten black and blue by that little demoness in a single move?"

"What do you trash know!" the disciple snapped, clutching his swollen face. "No matter what anyone says, I am still a heaven’s chosen genius at the half-step Divine Transformation stage! Do any of you have a higher cultivation than me? How dare you look down on me!"

He looked up at the Divine Abyss Gate’s seating area and scoffed coldly. "I’ve actually crossed blows with Wen Ruzhi. Only I know exactly how terrifying she is! She instantly killed a half-step Divine Transformation expert like me in one strike. At best, Yino won’t last three moves tomorrow before he’s forced to his knees!"

"Bullshit! I just fought Yino today. Do you have any idea how terrifying his sword intent is? Even that Demoness couldn’t scare the piss out of me with a single trace of killing intent! That’s why Yino will definitely win tomorrow’s tournament!" a young man in Frost Palace Dao robes said coldly, stepping out from the back of the crowd.

The two defeated opponents from earlier in the day gathered together and actually started arguing over Yino and Wen Ruzhi. Both of them were usually true legacy Disciples highly respected within their Sects. They naturally felt that any opponent capable of scaring them silly had to be incredibly terrifying, definitely not the garbage the other person claimed.

"Alright, alright, stop fighting. When I went back to the palace courtyard to rest just now, I think I saw Wen Ruzhi and He Yino fighting in an alley behind the pavilion!"

"What! Is that true?" The crowd spun around in shock. "What are you waiting for? Hurry up and take us there to watch the drama!"
