Chapter 742: Climbing Up The Mountain
Chapter 742: Climbing Up The Mountain
The tunnel leading up twisted and turned in many sections, sometimes making Kana and Kori walk in a complete circle before finally going higher. The path behind them was frozen over as they walked.
It took about an hour before they finally reached the top. The entire time Kana was telling Kori about her family as well as the other elementals who were currently restricted. Kori latched on to each of her words. It was a fun experience learning all about this person who came and brought her out of her loneliness. For the first time in her life, she was able to understand the joy of being in the company of another. The last person was nice as well, but they died before they got to talk.
As like her other elementals, Kana saw Kori as part of her family now, but more than that, she saw Kori as more of a child than anything else. Someone who needed guidance. Kana’s motherly instincts were on full blast. She saw Kori as her own daughter. It was a habit she could not control. Any time she saw a child who needed her, she could not help but take them under her wing.
“The sun feels nice after being stuck in such a dark tunnel,” Kana said as she stretched her arms above her head.
For Kori, this was her first time actually seeing any of this. The trees, the rocks, the blue skies, and the fluffy clouds that slowly made their way across them. It was all new to her, and with her big round eyes, she was looking around full of curiosity. She pulled on Kana’s shorts and pointed towards a tree that was swaying in the wind. Kana smiled and knelt down next to her. “This is called a tree. The green things attached to it that are fluttering around are called leaves. The green stuff under your feet covered in ice is called grass. And see the pretty red thing over there?”
Kana pointed to a red flower growing by a nearby rock. Kori’s eyes lit up as she saw it. She wanted to touch it but restrained herself. She knew if she did, it would end up like the grass stuff under her feet. But even though she could not touch it, just looking at it made her lips turn upwards.
Seeing Kori finally smile, Kana also smiled and rubbed the top of her head affectionately. She took Kori’s hand and began walking through the forest. Although they were high up in the mountain, the weather was still very warm. Kana felt it was strange at first because normally, certain altitudes would be covered in snow. But when she remember how different this world was compared to other worlds, she decided it was not worth thinking about anymore.
The two pushed through the forest. With both death element and ice element causing a path of death to trail behind them, the demonic beasts that were in the forest thought twice about going near them. But even if their trip was somewhat safe, this did not mean that Kana was anywhere near the Wind King Ape. Kana looked up at the rocky cliffs off in the distance that she still needed to climb.
This time she did not see any issues with the cliffside and saw that it was easily traversable, but she figured that she would first look for a path up to see if she could find an easier way up. That and she wanted to give Kori a chance to see many things she had not seen before.

While Kana was having an easy journey with Kori, Ming Xiafan and the rest were still at the bottom of the mountain walking along the sheer wall looking for a way up. “Why is there nothing!?”
“It just goes on and on!” A girl yelled out.
“You only have a little ways more to go.” Elder Ning flew over. He had flown ahead to try to find a path up. He never thought that they would end up at the one section of the Mufo Mountain that had no paths. But what he felt was strange was how he saw no signs of Kana past a certain point. It was like she disappeared. It seemed Elder Ning forgot that Kana had wings since she never used them. If he did remember then, he probably thought that they were there for decoration only.
But he could not let the disciples, who were walking for days on end, battling demonic beasts after demonic beasts, give up now that they have come this far. Even if they did miss Kana’s fight with the Wind King Ape, this was showing results and bringing out the determination of the disciples who were too relaxed back in the sect. He hoped they would use this as a means to re-energize themselves and will pour more hard work into their cultivation.
“Elder Ning, can’t you fly us over there!?” A female disciple called out in an almost begging fashion.
“I am just here to keep an eye on Kana, the rest of you all came here on your own without any preparations causing me to now keep an eye on you instead. And you actually asked me to give you all a ride?” Elder Ning replied with a snort. “Before asking for an easy ticket, you should reflect on yourselves first.”
The female disciple’s face flushed red after being scolded. She did not dare make eye contact with Elder Ning. Elder Ning shook his head and continued: “Keep up the pace. Since you all are making me look out for you, then I will make sure you are training properly as well.”
Elder Ning watched as all the disciples lowered their heads and continued forward. It was clear that it was embarrassing to need to be looked out for when they were the ones who were so willing to chase after Kana. Their pride is what was at fault for them being here unprepared.
