Chapter 706 - Missing Them
Chapter 706 – Missing Them
Blood Devil felt a sharp pain in his head as his vision blurred. He could hear someone yelling, but he could not make out what it was. He felt a warm sensation trickle down the back of his neck as his body fell forward and crashed into the ground face first. Just before his eyes closed to welcome the darkness, he wondered to himself: ‘Did someone finally see me?’
Kana did not even glance at the man she had just knocked out with a rock as she continued what she was doing. But soon, the man in her hands no longer said a word causing her to snort and toss him to the side. She looked at her hands and frowned. They were both covered in blood. She summoned out her storage chest and fished out the flask that had endless spiritual water in it, and used it to wash her hands. Only when her hands were clean did she stick everything back and de-summon her storage box. “Now then… Hmmm? Who is this bald guy? Why is he lying on the ground like that!?”
The other four just stared at Kana in disbelief. They did not know what to tell her. Liu Na was the one who thought of something and walked over and pulled Kana’s hand as she said: “He said something about wanting to get some sleep, let’s go.”
“Oh? What a strange place to sleep. Well, to each their own.” Kana let Liu Na pull her along. The other three looked at each other and just shrugged their shoulders before following. No one even glanced at the man on the ground.
Three hours after they left, Blood Devil came too and slowly sat up. He looked around to see the guy he had arrived with was lying dead on the ground in a bloody mess. “Ouch…” Blood Devil reached up and touched the back of his head. It was sticky with freshly dried blood. “I survived? Is it because I am so worthless I can not even match up to an ant on the ground?”
Blood Devil sighed as he pulled himself up. “Maybe this is my chance to truly start anew… I will head to the city and become a street performer.”
Many years down the road, a street performer named Fillias will become all the rage. Her act would stun the crowd. Not a single person would ever know the cute girl who was standing up on the stage singing songs was once a big burly man named Blood Devil. This, of course, is a story for another time.
Back to the present, Kana and her group finally made it out to a clearing that was not surrounded by tall grass. This area was near a small forest and within this forest was a mystical pond. Or at least this was what Fan Sengya was telling everyone. Because he seemed enthusiastic about it, the group decided to take a look to see just how mystical this place was.
The trees of this forest looked much different from other forests. The giant thick branches twisted and turned in many different ways and were covered in vines and moss. The outstretched branches that had many thousands of leaves shaded the ground below. But oddly enough, the lush greenery under the trees did not seem to mind being stuck in an eternal shadow.
As the group entered the forest, they saw many small animals that were nowhere close to being a demonic beast or a spiritual beast. The group even stopped and caught a few to fill their bellies. Kana even found some herbs that could be used to make her potions with and made quite a few for each person in her group.
It was around nightfall that the group finally reached the pond that Fan Sengya had talked about. The area around the pond did give off a mystical feeling with the trees there covered in flower petals instead of leaves. The scent in the air was very sweet and gave a calm feeling to those who breathed it in. Luckily it was not toxic and did not affect their state of mind.
But what really made it majestic was the glowing blue ripples in the pond’s water as the small waves rolled onto the shore. The way the moonlight danced over its surface made it a sight to behold. The group decided to set up camp along the shore. Only when the tents were up, and a campfire was going did everyone begin to do their own thing.
As for Kana, she walked over to a large boulder that stuck out of the ground on the pond’s shore. She climbed on top of it and looked out over the glistening water. She rested her chin on her knee and sighed as she began to think of her family. She wished she could be out here looking at such a scene with them.
She imagined her handsome husband holding her hand as they walked hand in hand along the shore. She imagined her babies playing in the water, yelling and screaming as they had a good time. She wished she could go back. Go back to the time when she could see her family every day. Before she knew it, her eyes had become blurry with tears. She felt lonely and sad. She wanted to be by her family’s side so much.
Fei and Liu Na, who were close by, heard Kana’s soft sobbing and felt their hearts hurting for Kana. They did not know why she was crying but seeing how she was just sitting there gazing out over the water, they did not dare disturb her. Even Fan Sengya sat back and did not attempt to approach her. It seemed that Kana just wanted to be left alone at this time.
Kana wiped the tears from her eyes and lifted her head to look at the starry sky. She reached out with her hand and tried to grasp the stars that were so far away. “I will make it back.. I will make it to the sea of stars and reunite with those I miss and love so dearly.”
