Chapter 656 - Alchemy
The following day Kana was outside sitting in her front yard with a bronze pill furnace and an old man pacing back and forth in front of her explaining the process of pill refinement. "As you are now, you can not control the fire well. You will need to use your mental energy and spiritual qi in sync to control the flames and the herbs within. Only by refining the herbs to their peak will you get the best outcome but this is taxing on the mind. Before I leave today, I will give you a mental cultivation method that will help you expand your mental energy. The more mental energy you have, the better."
Kana was listening intently to everything the old man was saying as she waved her hands back and forth. After learning how to extend her mental energy, which was what was needed to become an alchemist or armament master, she was given the task to make rank one fortification pills. They were medical pills that helped body fortification cultivators speed up the process. But Tina told her if it was possible to never take too many pills. By doing so, unless she was able to expel all the impurities in her body, she would end up with a bad foundation which would hinder her growth.
As an alchemist, it was indeed possible to create a pill to expel those impurities, but she would need to be a rank five alchemist in order to make such pills. For now, Kana was not even a rank one alchemist. Only when she successfully created a pill would she be considered at the starting line of becoming an alchemist.
Kana found that there were many things she needed to learn from this. One of which was the different types of herbs. Next to her were stacks of beast hide books that had information on different plants. Each plant had different characteristics and different ways they would need to be refined. Some were volatile towards other plants, which if mixed, could cause your furnace to explode.
Some plants were very unique and rare and had different elemental properties. Just like how a cultivator had their own innate elemental traits, making them more proficient at one element than others. This is why most cultivators would try to learn as much as they could about their main element and raise its strength.
For an alchemist, a cultivator would be considered a genius if they had dual wood and fire elements as main elementals. Kana only had the fire element at this time, which was still enough to allow her to become an alchemist or an armament master.
But while Kana was learning all these new things inside Moon Crest Academy, Wen Yang was currently standing in front of another man that looked similar to him but only older. "So you're telling me, some little girl in the body fortification realm beat all of you and that she seems to be some kind of divine beast? Do you take me as someone who is dumb!? Tell me the truth, who did you offend that caused you and your brothers to end up like this!?"
"Bro-Brother, it's true, look!" Wen Yang had wanted to rush over here earlier, but he had to take his followers to get healed. They only grew their legs back this morning. He was afraid if he left them that he would end up being responsible for their deaths. Luckily he had kept a sight stone on him and recorded everything that had happened. He did so when he felt the strange girl's killing intent.
"Hmm?" Wen Zan looked at the sight stone and frowned. "She is indeed powerful for her cultivation level. Even her understanding of the sword dao is great. If I recall correctly, an elder said that this girl will be taking the entrance tests in a year's time. With her looks and ability, she may just be right to be my Wen Zan's concubine."
"Brother, what about Fairy Chu?" Wen Yang hated his brother because anytime he found a beauty, his brother would take them with empty promises of many resources only to use them and toss them aside.
"Fairy Chu is tougher than I thought. But this is also why I said concubine and not wife because no matter how powerful this little beauty is now, she is too far from being close to Fairy Chu's level of talent. The Wen family will rise to new heights once I marry Fairy Chu." Wen Zan replied. He hated to admit it, but no matter what kind of moves or sweet words he used with Fairy Chu she was always ice cold.
Wen Zan looked at his little brother and patted him on the shoulder. "Don't worry, I will let you have the other little girl as for the blue divine beasts… I will take her in as a plaything. She doesn't look all that powerful. For now, just let things as is. When they pass the test, I will bring them to my side. As for the other girl, whatever you do, do not do it within the sect and make sure nothing leads back to you or me." Wen Zan said sternly. He did not wish for things to get screwed up.
Wen Yang clenched his fist. He did not want his brother touching the two girls he set his eyes on. While he was accepting his brother's words at face, inside, he was planning his next move. Since his brother was not helping him, he would find someone else. "I will be careful…" While he did not care too much for Liu Na, his brother's words did give him an idea.
After Wen Yang left Wen Zan's immortal cave, Wen Zan's eyes flashed. "That little waste seems to have plans of his own… No one can touch the meat that I have set my eyes on. Min'er, follow that trash and make sure he doesn't touch what is mine."
"Yes, master…" A young woman clothed in black appeared behind Wen Zan kneeling on the ground.. After giving her acknowledgement to Wen Zan's order she disappeared once again.
