Chapter 505 - Fate Of The Mortal World
The mortal world had been overrun. Their demise was left to their own fates. Creige had forcefully extracted Tilia, her, and the rest of her brothers and sisters, Baldswin and his new foxy wife, along with all of the lich. He also did not forget the staff that took care of Kana's house in the rural kingdom, the three princesses from the desolate race, and the staff of his home in Stonehammer kingdom.
There was nothing he could have done to stop the impending crisis. After Kana disappeared, he immediately got rid of the bugs and bug eggs in Eie's lab, sending them to some unknown place. As he was finishing up evacuating the people Kana cared about and also the people he cared about, he saw fiery rocks falling from the sky. From what he understood of these bugs, they would enter the planet's atmosphere by hitching a ride on rocks from space. At the time when seeing this rock, Creige had only one thought. "Maybe it was best for her to be dragged away. She would not need to put the lives of a world on her shoulders…" That was five years ago. Now, Creige had already ascended to the next plane of existence.
The mortal world today was nothing like it was in the past. The only thing left was only remnants of the society that once lived here. What was once lush green fields was nothing more than dry desert sand. Standing in front of a large sand dune that had the top of a castle sticking out of it was Camlia, along with Dandan and Tilia. "It's all gone…. All my people… All of them are gone!"
"Mmm… Tilia, you would have met the same end as them. In order to not make Kana suffer anymore, Creige forcefully took you away, and I agree with his actions. I know I refused to take you here until now. That was because I have been closely monitoring the situation here. The bugs have ravished this world to the point that nothing with a life force was allowed to escape. No bones, no nothing. You will not find dead bodies anywhere. Those bugs consumed everything in their path.
"Your people will have to live on in your heart." Camlia was never good with words, so she was sure what she said was not comforting, but this was just who she was.
"But what if there was a way to survive! We could have fought until the very end!" Tilia still could not accept it. She would have rather have fought until the bitter end instead of being alive, knowing she left so many to die while she was able to stay alive.
Camlia sighed, reached over, and smacked Tilia upside the head, startling her. "Do you not consider Kana your family and sister? Do you not consider your father, brother, and sisters your family as well? Do you wish for them to have experienced being eaten alive by bugs or the insectoid race? You have heard how Ceilie died, but yet you do not seem to understand the effect that it has on Kana! She has lost so much in her life that she does not need you to add on to those losses! I will protect her from the pain and sorrow she has always had to suffer! Even if it means being at odds with you little mortal queen."
Tilia held her head and looked at Camlia with a bit of fear in her eyes. She had never seen Camlia acting like this. She was emitting a murderous aura causing Tilia to shrink back. "I..."
"Big Sister, too much..." Dandan could see Camlia was about to lose it. But she could only sigh at this stupid girl next to her, not realizing she was standing on a landmine.
Tilia lowered her head. Teardrops rolled down her cheek to her chin before falling off and dropping on the dry sand below. "I know all of this! I know that without Kana, there would have been nothing we could have done. I know, but still. These people believed in me, and I abandoned them!"
"Then live a life for them. Live out your days being happy, allowing those who have fallen to know that there were people who were able to survive. Did I not give that bag of bones a decent handsome body for you to marry? Maybe for once, you should think about your own happiness. You could do nothing about this tragedy. As you said, there was no winning without Kana. Even I do not have the means to wipe those bugs out. As soon as Kana was taken away, that was the end of this world. So stop dwelling on what you think you could have done because you know no matter what you had tried, you would have been no more help than the next person.
"I know! I know this, but still… How can I live with this guilt ...." Tilia was at a loss of what to do. Kana was the one who could always point her in the right direction, but now even Kana was gone.
"Then go home and make baby after baby and name each one of those who had lost their life!" Camlia said with a snort. She was getting annoyed about the whole situation.
"I see I could do that… Lots of babies… Me and Keniil… Wait, lots of babies!?" Tilia blushed just thinking about it. But as she thought about it more, she suddenly nodded her head. "Then I will give birth to lots and lots of babies!"
Camlia did not know whether to laugh or cry, but with how this girl acted, she figured she would tell Keniil to stop at ten. She didn't want the poor girl turning into a baby factory for the rest of her life. Keniil would break too, if she did. But at least now, she had a new goal to work towards. Camlia hoped this would make the poor girl live a better life than she is now. She had only brought Tilia out due to Keniil begging her to do so. "Okay let's head back."
