Chapter 357 - Looking For A Boat
Free Port City…
One of the biggest ports in the old Botus Empire. Kana landed just outside the city and lined up with the rest of the people waiting to enter the city. "Kana, how come you didn't just fly over the wall?" Naru asked.
"Because these cities have a no fly zone. All port cities do not allow any race to fly over them unless they are extremely powerful. Although I can probably get away with doing the same, it is just not worth the hassle when I land." Kana replied.
"Oh..." Naru still felt confused. Couldn't she just suppress anyone who came to cause her trouble?
"Naru, stop being dumb. Kana doesn't want to delay her chances of getting on a ship." Aoi said as she floated over and slapped Naru on the head. Naru glared at her and snorted before moving away from her. Not even a second passed before Aoi hugged Naru, apologizing to him.
Kana only shook her head at this scene since it was repeated many, many times already. "To be honest, I am not even sure if there is a boat going to that continent. All we can do is check. Else I will need to fly there."
It was true that Kana was unsure if boats went to Pleqoth, the Land of the Ancients. She only stopped here to check so she wouldn't have to fly since flying for three months straight would not be fun. The line in front of Kana moved quickly. It did not take long before she reached the front. The guard at the gate was not human but a beastkin which surprised Kana. But this also seemed to be many of the reforms that Tilia had been imposing on the people as of late that allowed rights to every race.
After the last war, many things were slowly changing. The view humans have for beastkin was slowly beginning to change from that of slavery to equals. This was not to say it was like this everywhere, but it was where heavy traffic could be found, like bigger cities and ports. This was mainly because they lost the free labor, which meant they needed to hire someone to do the heavy lifting. Beastkins are naturally stronger than humans, so it was a given that they would be chosen over humans.
Even though this means fewer jobs for humans, Kana saw no problem with that. Give it ten years or so, and this content will have more beastkin than humans. She could deduce this since many human men have been openly courting beastkin women. This means a lot of half breeds would be born, and that would mean the human genes would become diluted. In a way, this was a new and brighter future for the Munas continent.
After passing through the gates, Kana was met with many packed together wood and clay buildings. Some of which were for housing while others were store fronts. The busy streets were packed with people selling their wares and those who were buying. The number of different races here was truly amazing.
"It is nice to see so many races in one place living in harmony." Kana smiled at this. The world she was hoping for was truly coming to fruition. And although she had a hand in it, it was her sister Tilia that was accomplishing this dream.
Kana wasted no time as she made her way down the busy streets heading towards the docks. The city itself was very large, so it took almost two hours to reach her destination. When she arrived at the docs, she got to see the ships that this world built. They were massive ships with many masts to allow the wind to speed them along. Most of these ships were well equipped as well with magi cannons and other magi tech weapons. This was because the open seas were filled with sea monsters of varying sizes. Some so big that these ships could be easily swallowed whole.
Kana looked around and finally found someone who may know a thing or two and walked over to them. It was a bird man with white feathered wings and a bald head. "Excuse me, can I ask you something?"
"Hmm?" The bird man turned and looked at Kana. His eyes lit up, seeing the beautiful girl standing in front of him. He smiled widely and said: "Sure miss, ask away. If I, the great bird capitan, can help you, I will."
"Ummm… Are there any ships heading to Pleqoth by chance?" Kana asked.
"This…" The bird man sighed and shook his head. "Although from here it is a straight shot to that continent, no ship here is crazy enough to go there. The monsters alone, once you cross what we call the boundary of no return, are close to demi god level. Not to mention that there is word that some of the monsters out there are the size of small continents. Only those who can fly and are of the demi god level will venture there. But even then, it is close to a three month trip one way. I think you should give up on that. It would be best to stay around here where it is safe."
"Sadly, no matter how dangerous it is there, I still must go. I thank you for the information." Kana reached in her bag and tossed the bird man a few gold coins before walking back towards the city. The bird man looked at Kana in a daze as he held the gold coins in his hands.
Kana figured since it was getting late, she would rest the night and then begin her long grueling journey to the place she can hopefully find something that can repair souls. She walked around the streets until she finally found an inn. She stepped through the doors to see many rough type looking people inside drinking. The atmosphere was really rowdy. Some people were singing and dancing and some were drinking and eating. Waitresses were running around serving food. Kana felt this atmosphere was really good.
She walked over to one of the empty tables and sat down. In only a few minutes a waitress came over and asked: "What can I get ya?"
