Chapter 199 - Trial Of Survival/Dronic Dungeon Part Six
"Damn it! Where did they all come from!?" While Kana was honing her sword skills, Mary was not having an easy time as she continuously moved to dodge any arrows that came flying at her. But what was really becoming a problem was that no matter how many arrows she fired, they always dodged, and this was only the first problem. The monsters who were hiding in the tree line were growing. More and more arrows were being fired at her from all different directions.
"Do you want Aoi to help?" Aoi saw how Mary was having a tough time to the point that she was already sweating. She was ready and willing to help at any time.
"Maybe in a little while when I really can not keep up. But thank you for the offer. I just want to train myself as much as possible right now." Mary replied as she dodged to the left then right, avoiding five arrows instantly. Whether she realized it or not, her combat ability was rising fast. She was moving on instinct now. It would not be long before even her marksmanship would also grow by leaps and bounds.
After messing around for almost an hour, Kana finally made her killing move against the pig man. She gave a faint to the right as if she was going to move in that direction only to quickly change direction and slash out with her sword. With her strength combined with the long length of the sword in her hand, she connected firmly with the pig man's side, slicing through him in a swift motion. Afterwords, she quickly diced the pig man up and shoved what she could grab into her inventory before it turned into balls of light.
Kana and Mary had found out that if you want to use the monster you are killing as food, you have to move quickly and dissect the parts you wish to eat and quickly store them, or you will end up watching your prey turn into balls of light and vanish in front of your eyes. Kana did not know why this was so. But when she thought about how this place used to be overrun by adventurers who would come here to train and make money, the idea of thousands of dead corpses lying around rotting away would end up causing a bigger mess than needed. But for a dungeon to take this fact into consideration was quite surprising.
But this brought about more questions like what created the dungeons on this world in the first place. As far as she knew, her world did not have any dungeons. To have such a system in place for dungeons meant that someone or something was behind it.
After the parts of the pigman that Kana did not get to store away disappeared, a small pile of silver and a grey cloth fell to the ground. Kana picked it up to see what it was but immediately frowned. "What the hell is with this place and dirty panties!?"
[Dirty Orc Panties]
[Never washed since put on. Some stains are questionable.]
Kana frowned and quickly turned the cloth into ash. She then blew fire on her fingertips to burn away any germs before soaking them in the ocean and then spitting more fire on them. Only then did she feel clean once again. She turned and took a look at how Mary was doing. Although the girl was sweating from head to toe, she had greatly improved her marksmanship within the past hour. The number of arrows being fired at her now was much lower than before. "Hit!"
As Mary yelled, a cry of pain could be heard coming from within the jungle. Mary's eyes had really adapted to pinpointing out the monsters in hiding without needing Aoi to even point them out anymore. "Should be three left."
"Not bad." Kana smiled as she let Mary do her thing. She then went to an area with no monsters and began collecting rocks and branches. Currently, they were on an island. She had no idea how big this island was or where the boss room was, but she knew for a fact that it was not going to be easy to find. For now, since they had just spent many days in a dark, dingy area, she wanted to take a small two day break to enjoy the beach which they could.
"Done!" Mary yelled out happily as she plopped her but down in the sand. She had just used over five hundred arrows in the past hour and a half continuously moving around, firing them off from all kinds of different angles. Her arms and the rest of her body really hurt.
At the same time, Kana had come back and began to pull wood and rocks out of her inventory. "We will set up camp and take a break for two days. It would be a shame to waste a chance like this. We do not know what the other floors will bring, and we will be heading into the jungle soon."
"That is fine by me. I need to wash this sweat off as it is and wash my clothes." Mary was really drenched in sweat.
"Aoi, can you create a water screen and help Mary wash up?" Kana asked.
"Okay! But Kana, can I fight next time?" Aoi was really getting bored! She was doing nothing but tedious tasks as of late.
"You can be on watch for the next two nights and tomorrow when it is time for us to fight I will let you take the rear and protect our sides, while Mary and I take the front." Kana offered. She felt bad for not letting Aoi fight this entire time.
"Deal!" Aoi said happily as she went to work making a water screen for Mary. While Mary was busy cleaning up, Kana went to work making a fire pit and a roasting station for their dinner.
Deep in the jungle in a clearing a large group of Pink skinned men walked to and fro. Some dragging behind them grey skinned female humanoids who had dead eyes. Around them were structures made of hides and logs. There were even a few made of stone. But the most eye catching thing was a group of humans locked behind a makeshift cage made of stone.
