Chapter 124 - Academy Life Part Two
That night Kana didn't even get to sleep in her bed by herself. Although she made a bed for Aoi and Kiliffia had a bed of her own, they both snuggled right into Kana's bed. One hugging her arm while the other sleeping on her chest. Luckily this did not affect her sleep, and she woke up early the next morning. Kiliffia was already up, and Aoi woke up when Kana stirred. Today was the day she was going to have her first day of classes.
The academy had basic academics as well as specialty classes. For Kana, she wanted to learn how to forge, so she would also be starting that later today. After a quick shower and breakfast, Kana was ready to go to her first class. "Goddess Kana, the first class will be calculations and magic circle theory. After that, we have alchemy, then battle training after lunch. After battle training, I will be going to my sword master class. What did you pick for your specialty?"
"I will be going to learn how to forge." Kana replied as they continued walking towards their first class.
Calculations and magic circle theory introduced magic circle creation in order to embed spells into items. Calculations was a sub-portion of this class that taught basic to advanced math. Alchemy was the art of taking materials and combining them using magic. This can range from simple healing potions to golems that walk around. Of course, this was not an easy thing to master, and those who could create a golem were very rare since it required special materials which were very hard to find. At least on the Munas continent, which Kana currently resides on. As for battle training, it came in two parts. Actual combat and in-classroom training. The class normally started off with in-classroom training for an hour before going to the arena to practice.
As for Kiliffia's swordmaster training, this was a specialization training class that dealt with swords only. It had many trainers who could oversee the students of each class in a one-on-one environment. These trainers would make a training regimen for each student based on their combat abilities and tell them what their strong and weak points are, how to fix them, and what else they should work on to become better.
This was basically the same for Kana's blacksmithing specialization. Each student was individually trained, which was one of the biggest perks of this Academy. This was also why the academy had such hard entrance tests. They did not wish to have people who were not willing to learn.
When Kana entered the classroom, she saw that the room was rather big with stadium-style seating. In the front, there was a podium where the teacher would give his lessons from. When Kana walked through the doors, many of the students were already there. Once they saw her, she became the center of attention, causing her to feel very nervous. She could hear them whispering this and that trying to guess who she was, but none of them seemed to know. Her current evolution form was not known by many. So to these students, she just looked like any other girl. It was only those who came from noble families that might know who she was.
Kana followed Kiliffia to the top row and took a seat. As she sat down, the door to the classroom slammed open, and a young man with squirrel ears and tail came walking into the room. His eyes swept the entire room until they finally landed on Kana. "You! How dare you ignore my request for tea!"
The young man was pissed. He had sent his men out last night to catch the damn slut and the little insect only to have them come back an hour later saying they couldn't get into the dorms since it was heavily guarded. Since his people were useless, he decided to come and deal with this on his own.
All eyes turned to the young man and then back to Kana. It was dead silent as everyone moved out of the way so that they could watch the show. Kana looked at the squirrel boy and tilted her head, trying to figure out when she had ever met such a person. But after much thought, nothing came to mind. "Kiliffia, do you know him?"
"Nope. But I already want to punch him." Kiliffia answered, her brow narrowed. She did not like the squirrel boy's attitude just now.
Kana let out a sigh and looked at the squirrel boy, and asked: "Who are you?"
"You!" The squirrel boy was at a loss for words. Everyone in the capital knew him and knew not to mess with him. He could do as he pleased all because his father was an official that worked under the king. But here he had some bitch actually ask who he was!? The squirrel; boy's face turned red with anger. he couldn't control himself as he yelled out: "Listen here slut, from this day forward you will b…. Ahhh!"
Kiliffia disappeared into a flash of leaves and only reappeared after sending the squirrel boy flying out of the classroom. She snorted and dusted her hands off as she slammed the door closed. She walked back over to Kana and sat down as if nothing had happened. "So Goddess Kana, I heard this class is difficult because it uses a lot of numbers."
"Hmm? Ahh, well, we will just need to pay attention and ask questions if we do not get anything." Kana replied. She made note to take care of that squirrel boy. She did not want to let the fact that she was just called something very horrible for no reason at all. She would not let things go just like that.
At this time, an owl man with glasses walked down the hall. He stopped in front of a strange indent in the wall to see a squirrel boy stuck inside of it. "Student Freados, may I ask why you are lining the halls as a piece of artwork? Well… with your eyes rolled up in the back of your head, I guess you wouldn't be able to answer me anyway. I will just leave a note here for you as a friendly reminder to clean up and repair the wall when you're done with your art display." With that, the owl man stuck a note to the squirrel boy's forehead and walked into the classroom.
