Chapter 2789: Chapter 2725: The Joys of Life

"Yes, Madam Cui, hello."

Jiang Xiao’s voice was extremely soft.

It still carried a very tranquil feeling.

"She looks so lovely, I have never seen such a pretty little girl, come over and let me have a look."

Madam Cui waved at Jiang Xiao.

Jiang Xiao walked over and squatted down in front of her.

She felt that Madam Cui was very kind, without any airs, completely different from seeing Old Madam Wei.

"Truly beautiful." Just as she felt, Madam Cui also found Jiang Xiao very endearing. She pulled Jiang Xiao up to sit beside her, constantly looking at her and liking her more and more.

"Is your name Xiao Chiang?"

Jiang Xiao shook her head, "No, my name is Jiang Xiao, Jiang as in the vast river. I just used to follow the surname of the family that adopted me, taking the Jiang from Jiang Ziya, so I used Xiao Chiang for painting. Now I have reverted to my father’s surname."

When meeting new acquaintances in the past, Jiang Xiao would have never explained so thoroughly. Yet, now, she naturally clarified the origin of her name to Madam Cui.

The family that adopted her...

It seems this little girl’s experiences have not been ordinary, perhaps she’s had her share of hardship in the past.

Madam Cui’s gaze at Jiang Xiao held traces of compassion.

But she didn’t press further into Jiang Xiao’s background, instead, she patted the back of Jiang Xiao’s hand and changed the topic.

"The little girl in this painting, could it be how you looked in your childhood?"

"No, Madam Cui, this is a little sister’s image I imagined. I’ve not seen many children, so I just imagined it, thinking a child like this would be very pretty."

"She does look really good." Madam Cui reiterated while glancing at Jiang Xiao, "Your painting skill is great, it’s like a real child sleeping soundly in front of me, sleeping so sweetly."

Jiang Xiao smiled and said, "Madam Cui, I have another painting, would you like to see it?"

"You brought another painting? Quickly, open it and let me see."

Jiang Xiao took out the painting.

Old Madam Wei hadn’t expected Jiang Xiao to have a second painting, and she was instantly a bit displeased.

Why did the girl bring two paintings, both meant for Madam Cui? Didn’t she think of giving her one? Although she usually has no interest in paintings, she would be delighted to receive one if it was given.

This feeling gave her a bit of a sour mood.

As the painting was unfurled, Madam Cui burst into laughter upon seeing it.

"Haha, what have you painted here?"

Old Madam Wei couldn’t help but lean in to look, and she too chuckled.

They never expected Jiang Xiao to have painted several endearing little pigs. The pigs were whimsical and cute, with round bodies, surrounded by a large watermelon in the middle, with a small crack showing the red flesh inside.

Just this touch of red flesh managed to make people think the watermelon was incredibly sweet and very juicy.

A few little pigs were wide-eyed, seemingly ready to rush over to snatch the watermelon.

It was unknown how Jiang Xiao painted it, but they could distinctly see the little pigs running in the painting.

The whole painting exuded a fresh sweetness, a touch of coolness, and was full of liveliness and dynamism.
