Chapter 2488: Chapter 2424: You Only Just Realized
Now that his grandson and granddaughter-in-law are back and can make meals for him, he feels very satisfied.
Meng Xinian said he wanted to help in the kitchen, but was chased out by Chiang Xiao.
He went upstairs and opened the room across the hall.
It was supposed to be a meticulously arranged children’s room for him, but he rarely came in anymore.
This was the only place Duan Qingqing wasn’t allowed to spend much time in.
Yet he had gone through and looked at many things, without finding anything special.
In his memory, Nian Chengcheng used to have a habit of keeping a diary. He had tried to find that diary, but it was never found. He thought she might have burned it, yet it turned out she had mailed it back to her hometown, ending up in Old Nian’s hands.
Fortunately, it eventually returned to him.
Apparently, this was also because of Chiang Xiao.
Meng Xinian sat down on a chair, casually picking up a stuffed toy, and thought of Chiang Xiao.
This was something he couldn’t figure out.
How did Chiang Xiaoxiao know where that diary was?
And when she went to get it, she actually got it?
She clearly didn’t know Old Nian, didn’t know Nian Tang, she didn’t even know Nian Che.
He was very sure of this.
But why did she know where that diary was?
It was as if she had seen the diary before.
Yet she hadn’t read the diary’s contents; he was sure of this too. Because she showed no signs of knowing what was in the diary.
If it were someone else, he’d suspect they were acting.
But this was Chiang Xiaoxiao, he knew her too well, she definitely wasn’t pretending.
He didn’t even want to test her.
If he ever tested her, he’d feel he was betraying her.
In the whole world, only Chiang Xiaoxiao could earn his complete trust; he could even entrust his life to her. How could he not believe her?
So he just couldn’t understand it.
Because he could tell, Chiang Xiaoxiao was very afraid of him pressing the issue.
So he didn’t ask.
Old Meng came in holding an iron box, looking for him, and found him in this room.
"Xinian, can Grandpa come in?"
Meng Xinian stood up, went out, and locked the door behind him.
"There’s only one chair here, let’s go to our room."
Old Meng smiled wryly; it seemed the kid still didn’t want anyone entering this room.
In their room, he sat down on the small sofa and handed the box to Meng Xinian.
"These are all things left by your grandma, you should give them to Little.
Meng Xinian opened it and found it was full of gold and silver jewelry.
"But Little might find them old-fashioned, so keep them. You can always melt them down and redesign them into something new."
"Thanks, old man. I’ll hold onto them for Little."
"Take it, take it," Old Meng sighed and said, "Xinian, you’re pretty lucky to have found a great wife like Little."
"You’re just realizing that now?" Meng Xinian didn’t even pretend to be modest.
Old Meng chuckled quietly.
This guy.
But it’s good that he knows how to cherish her.
"I wanted to ask you if your mom ever said anything to you? Anything related to Nian Che?" Old Meng carefully asked.
Meng Xinian raised an eyebrow, asking, "Why do you suddenly bring this up? Little told me she ran into him at the hospital and he wants to invite you to Fuxi tonight?"
"Little told you, huh?" Old Meng nodded. "Yeah, that’s what happened."
"Do you want to go?"
