So, she played along. "Then why didn’t he come this morning?"

Lin Ruoxi thought for a moment. "Xue Rui said the Terracotta Warriors have too much yin energy and that it wasn’t a good place for him to go."

’Xue Rui has a point,’ Lin Ruoxi thought. ’He lost some of his yang energy last night, so it wouldn’t be good for him to go somewhere so grim and eerie today.’

Gu Muxue was completely baffled. ’Is Xue Rui really that health-conscious?’

’She and Lin Ruoxi are both girls, and neither of them is as particular as he is.’

Seeing Lin Ruoxi’s slightly stiff gait, she felt a mix of anger and helplessness toward Xue Rui. Lin Ruoxi had consented to being hit, but Xue Rui had done it in her name, under the guise of it being "for her own good."

’Once her anger subsided, Gu Muxue had to admit she understood. Lin Ruoxi had been in a terrible state yesterday, and Xue Rui’s solution had been the best one. Still, her heart ached for her.’

"We should beat him up sometime. I think he’d be willing," Gu Muxue muttered darkly.

A panicked look crossed Lin Ruoxi’s face. "No, you can’t," she said hastily.

"We... we were actually just playing a little game for couples..." Lin Ruoxi explained meekly. Gu Muxue seemed really angry about Xue Rui hitting her.

"What?"

Gu Muxue didn’t understand what she meant. ’Hitting someone is wrong. It’s Xue Rui’s fault, and there’s no room for argument.’

’Lin Ruoxi’s butt still hurts, and yet she’s defending him.’

"You need to have some self-respect. You can’t just believe everything he says," Gu Muxue grumbled.

’Although she’d lost a bit of her own dignity, she would never indulge Xue Rui when it came to fundamental principles.’

"I’m a bad girl," Lin Ruoxi said with a pout.

’She had watched a lot of movies she wasn’t supposed to, but Gu Muxue didn’t understand the ’game’ between her and Xue Rui.’

Gu Muxue couldn’t help but laugh. ’If someone as innocent as Lin Ruoxi can be called a ’bad girl,’ are there any good girls left in the world?’

"I’m still going to ask him later. How could he be so cruel?" Gu Muxue said indignantly.

"Don’t... don’t ask. I..." Lin Ruoxi hurriedly grabbed Gu Muxue’s wrist.

She didn’t know how to explain it to Gu Muxue.

"Then you tell me why," Gu Muxue pressed.

"Um... it’s just... that..."

Lin Ruoxi’s voice trailed off into a mumble. Gu Muxue had to lean in until her ear was almost touching Lin Ruoxi’s lips, but she still couldn’t make out what she was trying to say.

"I... I’ll show you..."

Lin Ruoxi swallowed hard. ’I’ll just show Muxue the video,’ she decided. ’She’ll understand after just one look. Otherwise, I’m too clumsy with words to ever explain it properly.’

"Um, found it. You... you watch it yourself..."

Lin Ruoxi glanced around, and once she was sure no one was watching, she silenced her phone and played the video for Gu Muxue.

In just two seconds, a deep blush visibly spread across Gu Muxue’s cheeks.
