Chapter 435 315: Two Choices

Lin Ruoxi pouted, in a foul mood. She shoved the egg roll into her mouth in one bite.

Xue Rui got into the car and started chatting with Lin Ruoxi. "Xixi, did you buy an apartment yet?"

'I need to find more things for Lin Ruoxi to do lately, to keep her from overthinking.'

"Um, I've more or less picked one out. I found a pre-owned apartment nearby, so I should be able to move in soon," Lin Ruoxi said quietly.

"Mm, that's great," Xue Rui praised.

"I called my grandma last night. She said Aunt Ren went to see her a few days ago..."

"Oh, right, Sister Yu said she's going back to Hedong soon, and she's going to bring Da Huang over for me," Lin Ruoxi added, remembering something else. She pulled out her phone and started shopping for pet supplies.

Hearing the name Da Huang suddenly made Xue Rui think of Gu Muxue's cat.

'Yeah, Lin Ruoxi's personality is a lot like a dog's—obedient and clingy. Gu Muxue, on the other hand, is like a noble cat...'

'Too bad cats and dogs tend to fight.'

'Speaking of cats, I wonder where Xiaobu is now?'

'Should I "kidnap" her cat? Maybe making her mad would break the tension?'

'I don't know if this plan will even work, but I might as well just do it and see what happens. How much worse can things possibly get?'

'Getting a beating would honestly be the best outcome!'

"Rui, you're running for class president. Is there anything I can do to help?" Lin Ruoxi asked in a small voice.

'I'm not as smart as Gu Muxue, so I have to be direct and let Xue Rui tell me what to do.'

"Let me think..." Xue Rui felt a wave of helplessness. 'Why do I get the feeling she's trying to compete?'

'Gu Muxue doesn't give a damn about being class president. We hardly ever talk about it.'

'Now, with Lin Ruoxi asking so pointedly what she can do, I'm kind of at a loss.'

'If I say I don't need help, will that upset her?'

"Okay, how about this. I'll give you something to do this afternoon," Xue Rui said.

'This works out. It'll give me some quiet time to figure out how to placate that girl.'

Xue Rui glanced at his watch. The break had only started about five or six minutes ago, so the students still had plenty of time. He opened the car door and said, "Come with me. I have a very important mission for you."

"Okay!" Lin Ruoxi nodded emphatically.

「A few minutes later.」

"Everyone from Software Engineering Class 141, I... I have something to say."

Following Xue Rui's instructions, Lin Ruoxi walked over to where her class was gathered and tried to get their attention.

Unfortunately, her voice was too soft, and only Jiang Yuan and a few of the girls nearby heard her.

Jiang Yuan stood up and clapped her hands. "Everyone, quiet down! It looks like Lin Ruoxi has something to say."

"Um, thanks." Lin Ruoxi nodded at Jiang Yuan.

Once everyone had gathered around curiously, Lin Ruoxi spoke softly, "Has anyone not gotten their bank card set up yet? There's no line right now."

Jiang Yuan suddenly had a bad feeling. "Lin Ruoxi, what do you mean?"

"Xue Rui said we can take eight people at a time during the break. I'll drive two groups, so we have enough time..." Lin Ruoxi explained.

"Lin Ruoxi is going to drive us? But I didn't bring my ID," someone lamented with a sigh.

"Um, Xue Rui is at the men's dorm, and I can go to the women's dorm. I can get everyone's IDs for them."

"Yeah... Everyone can get theirs done this afternoon."

Jiang Yuan stared at Lin Ruoxi in disbelief. She had just been nice enough to help gather their classmates, and it was all to help Xue Rui in the race for class president?

'Didn't I just shoot myself in the foot?'

'The point is, I never imagined Lin Ruoxi would do something like this for Xue Rui...'

"Jiang Yuan, you... you're not mad, are you? Have you gotten your card yet? I can take you," Lin Ruoxi said quietly.

"Sigh..." Jiang Yuan looked completely resigned. 'Backstabbed by my own naive roommate...'

She didn't really have it in her to get angry.
