Rebirth: Pampered by the Lord

Chapter 2679: Thrown Away

  • Next Chapter

“Ah… help…!” Xiao Jiu’s miserable shrieks came from far away.

The servants in Rain Listening Courtyard were all dumbfounded. The Prince was way too handsome—he moved once and flung the usually most sharp-tongued Xiao Jiu straight out.

Long Rui moved too fast, and Xuexue was also stunned: “P…Prince, you really threw it out?”

“Of course. Who told it to bully my wife?”

“It…it didn’t bully me!”

“Right, I misspoke. It didn’t bully you, it was trying to peep at you.”

“Didn’t it fail?”

“Still deserves it.”

The Prince was way too formidable. Zi Xia suddenly felt a little guilty. Although Xiao Jiu was a bit foul-mouthed and liked playing pranks, overall this bird wasn’t bad—when they ran into danger it knew enough to help her.

Zi Xia: “Prince, maybe I saw wrong. Xiao Jiu didn’t peep at Miss taking a bath.”

Long Rui: “Saw wrong?”

Zi Xia’s head drooped lower and lower. “Mm!”

Long Rui: “You sure?”

Zi Xia thought about it and realized she really wasn’t sure. What she did just now was deliberately messing with Xiao Jiu—who told it to always tease her for no reason and even give her a nickname like Tigress, ruining her image in Long Yi’s heart. So she said, “Not sure.”

Long Rui: “That’s more like it, then we didn’t wrong it.”

Zi Xia: “But…!”

Xuexue was a bit worried about Xiao Jiu, so she said to Zi Xia, “Stop ‘but’-ing. Hurry and go check on Jiu!”

Zi Xia: “Oh!”

Xuexue thought for a moment and added, “Forget it, I’ll go too.”

“Wife, you’re not allowed to go.” Long Rui, acting like a rascal, grabbed Xuexue from behind.

Zi Xia turned to look at Xuexue: “Miss…?”

Long Rui waved his hand: “Zi Xia, you go. My wife isn’t going.”

Fine. Zi Xia walked a few steps forward, then suddenly remembered she was still holding the food box, filled with all the dishes the Prince liked.

So she turned back and handed the food to Xuexue: “Miss, this food is what I prepared for the Prince.”

Before Xuexue could react, Long Rui snatched it away. “Alright, you hurry and check on that bird. Don’t make my wife worry.”

“Yes.”

Zi Xia responded and walked toward the direction of Xiao Jiu’s wails…

“Ah…! Help…!”

Xiao Jiu’s ghostly howls drifted faintly over.

Xuexue looked at Long Rui: “Look at the mess you’ve made!”

Long Rui: “Serves it right. Who told it to peep at my wife.”

Xuexue: “Is that necessary? It’s just a bird.”

Long Rui said overbearingly, “Birds aren’t allowed either. Anyone who has improper thoughts about my wife, I’ll strangle it all in the cradle so they don’t get even the slightest chance.”

Xuexue was speechless and turned back to the bedroom, saying as she walked, “Weren’t you hungry? Hurry and eat.”

Long Rui: “I want my wife to eat with me!”

Xuexue: “Alright!”

The two of them were staying in the same room anyway; she had to keep him company whether she wanted to or not!

Garden.

Xiao Jiu was hanging upside down from a tree, its whole little body plastered into a huge spiderweb, unable to struggle free. It was tearing its throat open, shouting desperately, “Master, help, Master, save me!”

Luckily there were lanterns hanging all over the garden, otherwise Zi Xia really wouldn’t have been able to see Xiao Jiu’s tiny body.

“You’re great at mouthing off usually, but at a critical moment you can’t even beat a spiderweb. Aren’t you ashamed?” Zi Xia stood under the tree, head tilted back, arms crossed, looking at Xiao Jiu with a gloating expression.

“Ah, Zi Xia, you’re here, that’s great. Hurry and get me out!” When Xiao Jiu saw Zi Xia, it was overjoyed to the point of tears. It was not easy at all—after howling for so long, finally someone with some humanity showed up.
