Rebirth: Pampered by the Lord

Chapter 2602: Reluctant to Eat

  • Next Chapter

The Empress finally had such good food that she couldn’t bear to eat it; she hid it away.

The next day, two palace maids came in and found it while tidying up, salivating with greed.

Seeing this, the Empress, although reluctant to part with the food, thought of how they had suffered with her in the Cold Palace and decided to share a little with them.

In the Cold Palace, their meals were all the same, and the food they ate every day was spoiled. These buns and meat were a delicacy to them.

The two palace maids took the buns and meat, evenly divided them, and gobbled them up, finishing in no time.

They licked their fingers, unsatisfied, and said, "Oh, it’s so delicious. If only there was one more!"

"Don’t even think about it. It’s the Empress’s food. It’s a great favor that she gave us some. Don’t be greedy," one palace maid said.

"I’m just saying, why are you so tense?"

Empress: "Alright, you’ve eaten, stop arguing and fetch me a basin of water to wash my face!"

"Yes," agreed one palace maid, about to turn around when suddenly her once delicate features twisted in pain. Blood slowly seeped from her seven orifices, and she collapsed to the ground, motionless.

The incident happened suddenly, and in the blink of an eye, this palace maid had already died.

The other palace maid just wanted to take a step to see what happened?

When a sharp pain hit her stomach, she staggered and nearly fell to the ground; she seemed to realize what had happened, turned around, and pointed a trembling finger at the Empress, trying hard to speak with her bloody lips: "You... you... did it..."

"No... no... it wasn’t me... it wasn’t me." The just-awoken Empress, scared out of her wits, collapsed to the ground.

Who would tell her what exactly happened?

These two palace maids had just eaten the buns and meat and died, but these buns and meat were given to her by her confidant. What did this indicate?

It indicated that her confidant had betrayed her. As to who was behind this? The Empress didn’t dare guess, nor did she want to.

She feared nothing but the poisoner being the Emperor. If it really was him, there would be no hope for her and her son.

Qingyun Tower, second-floor private room.

Since she had eaten the lamb here last time, Xuexue often came to Qingyun Tower for meals. This private room had become her exclusive room, and the Shopkeeper simply reserved it for her, saying that whenever the Princess Consort of War Prince came, there would always be a private room for her.

The Shopkeeper, having brought in a table full of dishes with the staff, then retreated.

Zi Xia, standing behind Xuexue, couldn’t help but exclaim, "Miss, the Shopkeeper really knows how to please people!"

Xuexue, with an indifferent expression, said, "What’s the big deal? It’s just a meal, look at you showing off, really disappointing."

Zi Xia said happily, "Miss, don’t be modest. They said that at Qingyun Tower, people have to make reservations and wait in line for several days just to have a meal. And you, you even have a private room, yet you’re indifferent! If others hear this, won’t they be furious?"

Xuexue gave a smug smile, picked up her chopsticks, leisurely picked up a piece of lamb, and elegantly chewed, "This is the benefit of being the Princess Consort of War Prince."

Zi Xia: "Yes, you owe it to the Prince."

Xuexue: "Alright, don’t speak so sarcastically. There’s no one else here, so stop pretending and sit down to eat!"

Zi Xia seemed to hesitate, "Is this... appropriate?"

Xuexue said nonchalantly, "Suit yourself, eat if you want!"
