Rebirth: Pampered by the Lord
Chapter 2597: Getting the Short End of the Stick
Zi Xia saw the situation, pushed through the crowd, and went in: "Nanny Sun, the young lady asked me to come and see what’s going on here?"
Nanny Sun looked distressed and said, "The young lady rarely comes here, and now this happens, you see..."
Zi Xia raised her hand, signaling her to stop talking. Now wasn’t the time for guilt; the thugs and the old man were fighting brightly on the side, with chairs and plates flying everywhere.
If you got a little too close, you could get hit by accident.
Besides, if someone intends to cause trouble, would they pick the day for it?
So, this can’t be blamed on Nanny Sun.
Nanny Sun: "Miss Zi Xia, this person is highly skilled in martial arts, and the thugs are no match for him. What do you think we should do?"
The thugs are usually adept at dealing with local hooligans, but when facing someone highly skilled in martial arts, like this old man, they can only be led by the nose.
The old man darted around among several thugs, seemingly having a lot of fun. From time to time, he picked up some porcelain in the room and threw it, making the thugs dodge hurriedly. Some thugs were accidentally hit by the porcelain and screamed in pain.
The old man completely treated them like monkeys, not taking them seriously at all.
The spectators, who enjoyed the excitement, occasionally burst into laughter and cheers.
After all, whoever got hurt had nothing to do with them; they were just there for the fun. Why not enjoy the rare commotion?
The old man seemed encouraged and caused even more trouble.
Zi Xia was furious; causing trouble at the young lady’s place—was this old man tired of living?
She drew the longsword from her waist, rushed forward, and said to the thugs, who were in a disheveled and pathetic state: "Useless bunch, stand down."
The thugs, tormented by the old man to the point of wishing they were dead, heard this and felt as if they’d received an amnesty, retreating while clutching their wounds.
Nanny Sun gnashed her teeth and scolded them: "It’s you who eat the most at ordinary times, but at a critical moment, you’re of no use whatsoever, a bunch of useless people."
The thugs stood sheepishly on the side, not daring to make a sound.
Zi Xia soon engaged in combat with the old man, swords and blades clashing with a lively roar. Initially, taking advantage of the weapon in her hand, Zi Xia seemed to have the upper hand, striking the old man continuously.
But gradually, the old man came to his senses, grabbed a weapon from a nearby thug, and immediately turned the tide. Zi Xia found her strength insufficient and slowly fell into a disadvantageous position.
Nanny Sun, unfamiliar with martial arts, was unable to intervene, pacing anxiously on the side.
The old man became more adept and even taunted Zi Xia: "Young lady, you’re quite skilled. Why not become the master’s wife?"
Zi Xia was so enraged her teeth ground so loudly, she wielded her weapon again, slashing fiercely at the old man. But the old man’s body suddenly vanished from that spot.
Just as Zi Xia was puzzled, she felt a pain in her back: "Ah...!"
She quickly turned around only to see that the old man had somehow appeared behind her and kicked her in the back.
"Pfft...!"
Zi Xia felt a sweetness in her throat and spat out a mouthful of fresh blood. Her complexion turned extremely pale. She raised her arm and wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth fiercely. No wonder the thugs suffered; this old man was indeed a master of martial arts, even more so than her seasoned Itinerant World self.
"Miss Zi Xia, are you okay?"
Nanny Sun saw Zi Xia injured and was very anxious. She was the Master’s reliable assistant, nothing could happen to her.
"I won’t die!" Zi Xia gritted her teeth, her face filled with determination. Having roamed the Itinerant World, she had never suffered a loss. Being defeated by the old man today left her of course with resentment.
