Chapter 2594: Skinning

One of the staff laughed awkwardly and then scolded the other companions to hurry outside: "What are you all doing here? Hurry and get to work, or you’ll risk the Shopkeeper’s wrath."

Upon hearing this, the staff rushed outside.

Even though the bird is beautiful, losing a job because of it isn’t worth it. Better go outside and obediently work.

Xiao Jiu held a piece of meat in its beak and smugly said, "I’m a treasure, you can’t envy me."

"Run where? Once caught, you won’t be able to move, locked in a cage, boiled to remove your feathers, and your bird life will end like that."

They were eating in a private room on the second floor; Xuexue was by the window. Accidentally looking up, she saw a familiar figure quickly pass by downstairs in the hall.

She immediately turned to them and said, "Stop arguing, there’s a situation."

One person and one bird immediately paused and tacitly asked her, "Miss, what’s up?"

Xuexue didn’t speak, beckoning to Xiao Jiu.

With a flutter, Xiao Jiu immediately flapped its wings and flew over.

"Understood," Xiao Jiu agreed and flew down from the window.

Zi Xia was curious, asking, "Miss, what did you say to Xiao Jiu? Where’s it going?"

In the private room, there were two staff waiting by the side. Xuexue smiled without speaking, slowly eating her food.

Since Miss didn’t say, Zi Xia didn’t dare ask further, only bowing her head to continue eating.

The staff mentioned earlier, the restaurant’s whole lamb feast comprised seventy-two dishes. Due to the table’s limited space, the Shopkeeper served them with just over thirty dishes, with many dishes stacked together.

After a while, Xiao Jiu still hadn’t returned.

"Miss, there are so many dishes left, shall we pack them up? It’d be nice to take them back for the sisters to enjoy." Today all these are top-notch dishes; it seems too wasteful to throw them away. Though Xuexue earned money, she’s not one to be extravagant or wasteful; she nodded, "Sure, pack them all!"

The Princess Consort of War Prince packing food while dining outside alarmed the Shopkeeper, who immediately directed the staff to prepare a new package for Xuexue. As a mere Shopkeeper, he wouldn’t dare give the Princess Consort leftovers.

The Shopkeeper secretly handled this matter, unbeknownst to Xuexue, who thought what Zi Xia was carrying were leftovers, unaware the Shopkeeper had switched them with fresh food.

Not until they sat in the carriage, heading off, did Xiao Jiu still not return.

Inside the carriage, Zi Xia hesitated several times but ultimately didn’t ask.

Xuexue closed her eyes and rested, the carriage journeyed quickly to Qinger Building.

Once they entered, Zi Xia handed the food box to Nanny Sun: "Nanny Sun, share these dishes with the sisters."

"Yes, thank you Princess Consort." Even though Zi Xia handed them over, Nanny Sun knew the real patron was Xuexue, thanking her was correct.
