Rebirth of the Nephilim

Chapter 774: Private Experiments

  • Next Chapter

“Are you sure you want to experiment with something like this?”

Syd tilted her head to her right, one eyebrow raised in curiosity. Putting one hand against the wall before her, the other paused in its fiddling with the strings of her pants.

“I’m sure that I’m sure,” she replied with a question in her voice. “Are you sure? Because if you don’t want to try, I have no problem—”

“No, no, it’s not that I don’t want to try,” Bridget was quick to reject the idea of backing out. “It’s just that… you know… what if something goes wrong?”

Syd giggled lightly at Bridget’s words, not because of the concern the orc was showing, but because of the images that came to her mind at the idea of how things might go poorly with their planned activity. Shaking her head, Syd quickly dropped down onto her knees so that she was closer to Bridget’s height before pulling her in for a comforting kiss.

“Nothing’s going to go wrong,” Syd reassured her lover after breaking the seal of their lips. “The skill will protect me.”

“Yeah, it should…” Bridget mumbled, a crease still visible between her brows.

“Besides,” Syd continued with a cheeky grin. “I’ve been burned alive multiple times, you know. I can handle it if you set my dick on fire.”

“Bloody arsehole,” the warrior smacked Syd’s shoulder. “I’m not going to burn you!”

“Exactly my point!” Syd laughed as she hugged her angry orc. “You won’t! Nothing to worry about!”

Growling, Bridget took hold of Syd’s hair and roughly pulled her close for another kiss, this one much more passionate and filled with aggression. When the duel was halted some minutes later with no clear winner declared, Bridget put a stiff finger against Syd’s nose and wiggled it back and forth.

“Just keep in mind that if I do end up roasting your plonker, this was all your idea.”

“Duly noted.”

With the understanding between them reinforced, Syd got back up to her full height and finished undoing the laces on the front of her pants, allowing her to fish out her already mostly hard cock. At the same time, Bridget’s body flared into blue flames, her burning heat turning the otherwise cool morning hot as a baker’s oven.

Jadis really hoped Bridget’s skill worked as advertised.

Due to her extremely active participation in the battle for Kastoria, Bridget had gained a lot of levels. Not the most levels out of the group; that honor went to Aila, likely due to the massive number of Demons she had slain with her spells, though Jadis had been only one level behind the redhead. Bridget had come in third place in that unofficial competition, a fact that had driven Kerr absolutely mad with envy, especially since she shared fourth place with several others. Bridget had earned thirteen levels total, with seven coming from her tertiary class, four from her secondary, and two from her primary. Technically, she had gained a lot more levels than that if the count was started during the march to Kastoria, but Kerr absolutely adamant that the score could only be kept for levels gained during the siege, not before or after.

Regardless of Kerr’s unofficial competition and her standing within it, Bridget had done well to gain so many levels, and she had unlocked quite a few useful skills. One of which was an ability that she had been hoping to get for months, though it had come in a form that she had not expected.

Landsknecht’s Flamewisp

Active Spell. Launch a slow-moving projectile of arcane fire from your lantern at a target within 100 feet of you. The flamewisp will follow the target slowly but relentlessly until it either impacts the target or a barrier, or the target goes more than 200 feet from you. Only one flamewisp can be active at a time. Cost – 20 magic. Duration – Instantaneous.

The spell was certainly unusual, but it was indisputably the better option over her other level thirty-five primary class skill offering, a passive that would have increased her Fortitude and Resilience by five points each. For months, she had avoided using any kind of ranged weapon specifically to try and draw out a magic option for ranged spells, and the strategy had worked. Finally, Bridget would have a ranged attack for her magic, even if the spell was a little weird.

When the spell description said that the projectile was slow moving, it really meant it. That wasn’t to say that the blue ball of flame that floated through the air was moving at a snail’s pace. Far from it. Jadis guessed that the spell moved at about fifty miles an hour, which was far faster than any normal person would be able to run. However, when compared to even a mundane arrow’s flight speed, the magic projectile really was slow and could be easily dodged by almost anyone, regardless of their Agility score. The only saving grace of the flamewisp was that its homing function was excellent. The ball of fire would follow its target anywhere, and it did so smartly, avoiding barriers and shields whenever possible in order to get to its goal. Additionally, the spell seemed to have no upper limit on its duration. Jadis could dodge the flamewisp all day, but as long as she stayed within two hundred feet of Bridget, the orb would not stop chasing her, pursuing its single-minded mission even hours after the initial casting.

Again, it was a weird spell, but a useful one, and would hopefully lead to more ranged spells with greater effects in the future.

Other than the flamewisp spell at level thirty-five, Bridget had gained two attribute points at thirty-six for her primary class. That was all she had gotten for Lantern Light Landsknecht, though, likely due to the class nearing level forty. The amount of experience needed by that point was noticeably more than earlier levels.

For the four levels she had gained in Ardent Light of the Reborn, Bridget had received four free attribute points and two new skills. There had not been much discussion over which skills she would pick, either, since two of the options were basically mediocre magic improvements while the other two were far more attractive.

Acceleration Beacon

Active Spell. Radiate an invigorating light that increases the Agility attribute for allies within the spell’s radius of 50 feet. Agility is increased by 0.1 of your Arcane attribute. Cost – 20 magic per minute. Duration – Channeled.

Similar in nature to her Stamina Beacon, Acceleration Beacon was a spell that would buff Bridget’s nearby allies, giving them a significant boost to their Agility. Even Jadis, with all her amazing speed, couldn’t undersell the benefits of getting what equated to another hundred points of Agility. For others who didn’t have as many points in their Agility like Thea or Alex, the bonus had an even more pronounced effect.

The other skill Bridget got for her secondary class was more personally useful to her.

Ardent Flame of Shared Love

Active Spell. Conjure a flame that will hover over the head of a single target. For the duration of the spell, any Nephilim the target has sex with counts towards your Stoke the Ardent Flame total, up to double the number of Nephilim that you have sexual intercourse with at the same time. The same rules apply to the target as do to you for Stoke the Ardent Flame. Cost – 50 magic. Duration – 1 hour.

What the spell came down to was that for the low, low cost of fifty magic and requesting that one of harem mates take on five Jadis’ at once, Bridget got to double the attribute points she received from Stoke the Ardent Flame. Basically, the skill was an extra one hundred free points, with the added bonus of giving Jadis the excuse to perform specific lewd activities on someone in addition to Bridget. Aila was the natural pick for the Ardent Flame since she was getting grouped up on by five Jadis’ regularly anyway for her own passive skill, but there was also no shortage of volunteers who didn’t just offer, but asked Bridget to cast her flame on them.

The seven levels Bridget had earned in her tertiary class had resulted in four new skill slots and, considering the power of the class, a long debate on which of the eight new options she should take. The only one that had been easily dismissed had been a skill that would have allowed Bridget to literally eat metal and turn it into a sort of second skin to protect her. The main reason the skill had been rejected was because the layer of metal would just slough off when she wasn’t in Flamesoul form, making it something of a waste. The other reason was because Bridget didn’t want to encourage Sabina’s idea of using her as a fire for her smithing.

Of the seven remaining options, two were eliminated for being status point boosters that were static and therefore not as important, and one was eventually thrown out for requiring Bridget to bathe in forge fire which, while doable, would be a hassle to perform when out in the field. In the end, Bridget was happy with the four she had officially chosen, and Jadis was particularly happy with two of them.

Burning Leap

Active Skill. Empower your next jump with flames. You will soar ten times the distance you would otherwise be able to achieve with a leap due to fire surrounding your feet. This skill does not require Flamesoul Body to be active for your use. Cost – 30 stamina. Duration – Instantaneous.

Fiery Demise

Active Spell. The bodies of enemies who die while on fire with your arcane flames explode, causing additional fire damage to those who are within range. The explosion damage is equal to 0.1 of your Arcane attribute and the range is 5 feet for maximum effect, with diminishing results at further distances. Cost – 100 magic. Duration – 5 minutes.

Flamesoul Warrior’s Unquenched Lust

Passive Skill. The fires of your passion cannot be slaked. For every orgasm your Bonded Lover draws from you, gain 1 minute of extended time for your Flamesoul Body that does not drain your magic reserves. This extended time is used before your magic reserves are accessed.

Friendly Fire

Passive Skill. Your arcane fire no longer causes damage to allies. Other effects, such as concussive force, can still have an impact on nearby allies.

Flamesoul Warrior’s Unquenched Lust was the obvious reason for Jadis to be happy with Bridget’s selections. A skill that empowered her lover every time she got her to climax? If only all of her bonded mates had the same ability. There was no downside to the skill, and plenty of upside, which meant Jadis was helping her favorite orc out with her “unquenchable lust” as often as possible.

At no point yet had Kerr’s teasing stopped regarding the name of that skill…

Unquenched Lust only partially put to the side, there was another skill that had captured Jadis’ interest. Yes, Burning Leap was cool and seemed like a possible progression towards more advanced movement skills, and Fiery Demise was an obvious field-cleaner that would pair well with Bridget’s other explosive abilities, but the skill that had taken off with Jadis’ imagination was Friendly Fire. Regardless of the terrible pun that only she seemed to get, Friendly Fire opened up a possibility that Jadis had wondered about when she had first seen her lover’s flaming form. A possibility that they were finally going to explore together.

While on a roof.

“Are you sure you want to do this right here, right now?” Bridget asked, her voice sounding strange and rougher thanks to her flame form. “What if someone comes up here and sees us?”

“That concern didn’t seem to bother you a minute ago when you were sunbathing nude on the roof of our docking tower,” Syd pointed out while simultaneously appreciating her lover’s beautiful nude form made new again by blue fire.

“I have to sunbathe nude because of that stupid skill,” the proud warrior protested, the fire in her cheeks literally increasing. “Also, there’s a big different between being caught nude and being caught nude while having your cock in my mouth.”

“Trifling detail,” Syd dismissed the point. “Besides, there’s not much chance of anyone coming up here right now anyway. The Leviathan isn’t supposed to be back until this afternoon. So, unless you plan on sucking for the next six hours, I think we’ll be out of here in time to avoid the arrival window.”

“Six hours might as well be six minutes when it comes to you,” Bridget muttered before shaking her head and using both hands to grasp firmly onto Syd’s cock.

A thrill went up Syd’s spine at the bizarre sensation of Bridget touching her. The feeling was wonderful, but incredibly hard to describe, as it wasn’t like anything she had ever experienced before. Bridget’s flesh wasn’t flesh anymore. She was a being made of living fire, corporeal enough to wear armor, hold a weapon, and even be cut if a blade passed over her. Yet she didn’t have skin, or muscles, or any sort of true physical being at all. She was fire, which meant that Jadis’ nerve endings were having a hard time telling her what exactly the sensation of her lover’s hands on her cock was like.

Hot, certainly. Burning nearly to the point of being uncomfortable, but not quite. Dry, yet somehow smooth and almost liquid, yet without any feeling of wetness. If Jadis hadn’t spent the previous night indulging Maeve’s whims of trying out various abnormal materials for her transformations, she probably wouldn’t have known how to describe Bridget’s touch at all. Fortunately, she did have some limited experience, which was actually part of why Jadis had chosen to accost her fiery warrior about finally trying out Friendly Fire in the metaphorical bedroom.

That, and she had been flying overhead when she had spotted Bridget lying naked on a towel on top of the roof and her dick had told her in no uncertain terms that she was not passing up the opportunity.

“That feels amazing,” Syd sighed as Bridget’s hands slid up and down her long shaft. “Better than I imagined.”

“No pain?” Bridget asked, a little worry still in her voice.

“Not even a little,” Syd reassured her. “Mm, maybe we’ll have to do this for six hours after all…”

“Right,” Bridget responded sarcastically. “Because I have nothing better to do today but stand here stroking your rod.”

“True,” Syd agreed with a grin. “You could be sucking, too.”

Muttering under her breath, Bridget brought her face close to Syd’s engorged member.

“I hate it when you make good points…”

Syd hissed out a sigh as Bridget’s fiery tongue lapped along the underside of her shaft. It was an utterly indescribable feeling, somehow hotter than the orc’s hands yet not only tolerable, but intoxicatingly pleasurable. When Bridget’s tongue brought her all the way to the end, she hovered there, lips barely parted as she pressed them against Syd’s drooling tip.  The anticipation of what it would feel like once Bridget actually took her inside her mouth was—

“Are you sure we should be doing this up here?” a familiar, feminine voice spoke up from the other side of the tower that had been constructed on top of the roof.

“It’s fine,” another familiar voice answered, her tone far more confident. “No one will be up here for hours, and any Seraphim flying above won’t notice us as long as we stay in the shadows under the tower.”

“But, why can’t we just do this in our room?” the first voice pleaded.

“Because doing it out here is so much more fun, don’t you agree?”

The assertion was followed by the sudden sound of two bodies pressing close together, then a delicate moan.

“Your pussy definitely agrees with me,” Cora stated, her voice thick with lust. “Doesn’t it, my little Mouse?”

“Don’t call me that,” Estelle whined entirely unconvincingly. “And I’m just… it’s just… only because I’m with you…”

“You naughty little noble…”

Syd stared down at the burning figure of Bridget, the orc staring up at her with equal amounts of wide-eyed surprise, mouth still pressed against the tip of her cock. Glancing in the direction of the two moaning voices, Syd took a deep breath, then stifled a laugh. Shrugging her shoulders, she motioned for Bridget to continue. When the warrior gave her a disbelieving look, Syd motioned again, silently mouthing a couple of words.

“Keep going.”

Sighing heavily, which felt wonderful for Syd considering her position, Bridget stood still for a few moments. Then, obviously rolling her burning eyes, she dove forward determinedly.

They were there first, after all.
