Rebirth of the Nephilim

Chapter 750: Dangers of Genius

  • Next Chapter

Jadis and her lovers truly did have a busy schedule ahead of them, to the point where Jadis was starting to draw comparisons to the assault on Kastoria. Not that she was missing the war; Jadis had had enough of battles, pain, and death for a while. No, she was more than happy to get a long break from the fight against the invading Demons. The comparison, however, stemmed from how much of her time was spent dedicated to handling problems, resolving issues, directing subordinates, and dealing with the odd emergency that popped up here and there. The difference was none of those situations were life and death while she was in the capital.

For the most part.

“I’ll kill her,” Kerr growled, her teeth bared and her tail bristling like an angry cat. “I’ll fucking kill her! I’m going to use a spoon! I swear, I’ll—”

“Who are you killing with a spoon and what did they do to deserve such an inglorious death?” Syd asked as she plucked tableware out of her lover’s hand.

“Sabina! She’s lost it! I’m losing it! Je vais jeter tous ses outils dans sa forge, les faire fondre pour en faire une bite en fer géante et la balancer dans la rivière!”

“Okay, not sure what that means, but you can’t do it,” Syd said as she picked her angry therion up and held her at arm’s length, the same as she would with an angry feline. “And you can’t kill Sabby either.”

“Fuck, I know that,” Kerr groaned while digging the heels of her palms into her eyes. “She’s too fucking sexy in bed to waste like that. But gods damn it all, she broke my bow!”

“Your bow?” Syd blinked in surprise. “Why did she break your bow?”

“I don’t know!” the archer kicked her legs in the air petulantly as she dangled in Syd’s hands. “Alex said she took my bow from our room this morning. Didn’t even ask! When I went looking for her in the workshop, my bow was in pieces! She stripped the enchantments out and it was all a wreck! She didn’t even ask!”

Ah. The pieces clicked together nicely as Jadis processed Kerr’s explanation. Well, the mental pieces, not the pieces of Kerr’s bow. Sabina had been more hyper focused on enchanting and even a little manic ever since she had unlocked her tertiary class. She had taken to acting on her often times impulsive ideas immediately rather than planning them out, which had led to a few minor incidents around the compound. None had been anything too bad, which was part of why Jadis hadn’t brought them up as a problem. But if Sabina was starting to take other people’s property without permission, that was an issue that needed to be addressed immediately.

“Okay, let me go talk to her,” Syd said as she gave Kerr a kiss and set her down on the floor. “I’m sure she was just trying to make improvements to your bow and had an accident.”

“Fine,” Kerr growled, her mood not yet improved. “Fuck, I need to go get something to drink.”

“Can’t drink, pregnant,” Syd warned.

“Merde,” she cursed as she changed directions and turned back to face Syd. “You have an hour for some stress fucking?”

“I’ve got to take Alex and Hope to be fitted for dresses in fifteen minutes,” Syd shook her head.

“Double merde,” Kerr stomped towards the stairs. “If you see Bridget, tell her I’m waiting for her in the training yard.”

“For fighting or fucking?”

“We’ll see!”

Syd let the archer go and made a mental note to give Bridget some warning as soon as she saw her. Then, since time was truly running short, she stepped out of the back balcony and leapt over the edge. There was no need for her to summon her wings; a three-story fall was nothing to Jadis by that point in her life. With only a small flex of her muscles, she shot out far enough from the building that she landed only a few feet from the front entrance to Sabina’s workshop. Since the door was already open, Syd walked right in, her gaze on the hunt for her eccentric half-elf lover.

The forge was busy that morning. In truth, it was always busy, with the constant demand for airships compelling a constant flow of specialized enchantments to be produced whether Sabina was present or not. However, as Jadis scanned the cacophonous chaos that was the Fortune’s Favored workshop, she was reminded of just how much their little facility had grown in a very short amount of time.

Men and women bustled around the expanded structure, some moving along the platforms that lined the walls of the second floor that had been added to the workshop, others sticking to the brick path that ran through the middle of the main floor. Most of them were the generalist laborers that used their talents and skills to transport equipment and materials, construct the frames of the airships, or do whatever other tasks were needed. Among them, though, were the true craftsmen and enchanters. Sabina’s father, Gallo, and her two brothers, Crispus and Valerius, were among that number. So was Violetta, Sabina’s protégé and fellow enchanter. However, aside from those who were family or direct employees of Ahlstrom Aviation, there were also several priests from Svaroga’s temple who were bustling around the workshop. The God of Crafting and his faithful followers made for excellent additional help around the forge as they were both highly skilled and trustworthy. Even better, they did the job for practically free, since they weren’t interested in monetary gain but instead only wished to learn and increase their levels as craftsmen. Working for a genius like Sabina on projects that were often experimental and never before tried was doing wonders for their experience gain.

Even High Priest Doru was coming by to help with the enchantment crafting when he had free time.

Doru wasn’t present that day, though, even with all of the increased hustle and bustle. Since everyone was so obviously busy, Syd did her best to avoid getting in the way and only greeted those who happened to notice her. Despite being a giant, it wasn’t that hard to go unnoticed in the chaotic congregation of crafters. As she made her way between the workstations, smelting furnaces, and stacks of crates that held one of the most expensive materials in the world, she finally found Sabina right where she expected to find her bubbly little prodigy: head bent over her private worktable.

There were a lot of things scattered over the smooth wooden surface, including esoteric crafting tools, bags of strange ingredients, adjustable metal trays meant for working on tiny enchantments, and even a sizeable bottle of faintly glowing liquid that Jadis was certain had been donated to Sabina from Alex. The main thing covering the middle of the large table, though, was the remains of an overly large metal bow.

Approaching her lover from behind, Syd stopped and waited for Sabina to notice her. She didn’t have to wait for long.

“Kerr’s mad at me, isn’t she?”

“A little bit,” Syd replied.

“A little bit, or a lot of bits?”

“She’s punching training dummies in the yard right now.”

Sabina groaned, holding her head in her hands as she stared down at the mess she had made out of Kerr’s weapon.

“Do I need to explain what you did wrong?”

“I know, I should have asked, I should have tested to make sure I could do this before I even tried with Kerr’s bow, but I should have asked regardless, but I was so excited and she wasn’t in our room when I went to find her but her bow was, and I thought it would be a nice surprise for her but I didn’t do it right and now her bow is broken and she hates me now and I’m so, so, so sorry!”

“Okay, well, I see you’ve properly self-assessed the situation,” Syd said dryly as she stood with her arms folded across her chest. “Except, Kerr doesn’t hate you. She’s mad at you right now, but she doesn’t hate you.”

“I should go say sorry to her,” Sabina whipped around and started walking to the workshop exit.

Before the smith could take more than three steps, Syd took hold of her shoulder and guided her in a circle so that she ended up back in front of her worktable.

“Let’s give her a few more minutes to cool off,” she advised. “Sometimes an apology doesn’t help when tempers are still high.”

“Right…”

“Anyway,” Syd huffed out a breath as she studied the pieces scattered over the table. “Do you think you can fix what you broke?”

“I don’t think so, no,” Sabina admitted. “I didn’t make this bow, and I didn’t get a good enough look at the runes before I broke them. I can’t remake them if I don’t know the specific runes that were used.”

“What were you trying to do, anyway?” Syd asked as she leaned over one of the interior pieces of the metal bow, examining what looked like a copper filament wrapped around a steel rod to her untrained eye.

“I wanted to make some improvements! I thought of an enchantment that would be able to increase Kerr’s range and I was going to add it into her already existing bow instead of making a whole new bow because it would be faster that way and I was just going to be doing this between the airship and communication hub production but I messed it up and—”

“That part we don’t need to rehash,” Syd stopped the verbal avalanche before it could go further. “Let’s focus on what we can do to make this right for Kerr. How long do you think it will take you to make a new bow for her?”

“If Valerius helps me, I think I can get a newer, better bow made that’ll have even better enchantments than the one I broke made in maybe a couple of days?” Sabina said hopefully. “I can definitely make one that won’t be as good much quicker, or we can buy one from Svaroga’s Temple. I mean, I’ll buy it with my money since this was my fault. I have money, don’t I?”

“Yes, you have money,” Syd nodded while trying to suppress her smile. “I think the best thing to do would be to make a whole new bow for Kerr. She’ll appreciate that more. But if you focus on that, I’m guessing—”

“We’ll have to push back the launch of the new airship,” Sabina said, anticipating Jadis’ next words. “I can’t work on both. Not unless I can replicate your multiple bodies skill. That would be really useful right now, actually. I wish you could give me that skill, at least for a little while.”

The image of a dozen Sabinas running around in her workshop wearing nothing but her leather apron entered Syd’s mind for a brief flash. Tempting thought, though on reflection, Jadis wasn’t sure if she, or the world, was ready for more than one Sabina.

“Alright, well, you work on Kerr’s new bow and I’ll let her know what you’re up to. Give her an hour or two before you apologize, okay?”

“I will,” the smith nodded, already picking up the bow pieces and moving them to the side of her table. “Are you leaving?”

“Yes, I’m taking Alex and Hope to be fitted for dresses,” Syd answered. “I have to get one, too. We have that tea party thing in a couple of days, and we have to look our best if we’re going to be the guests of royalty.”

“When you get back, can you and Alex please help me make more Jadisite and Alexite? If I’m going to craft a new bow of Kerr, I want it to be as powerful as I can possibly make it and that means I’ll need the best materials possible.”

“Uh, yeah, I think we can manage that. But maybe since it’ll be a bow for Kerr, you could use this opportunity to make something from her material?”

“Oh, I absolutely will!” Sabina chirped, her mood lifting back to its usual chipper self. “I’m going to ask her for her help making an ingot of Kerrite when I apologize to her! I’m sure she’ll be in a much better mood if we have sex for a while, since that always seems to make Kerr happy. Does she have a penis right now?”

“No, I don’t think she does,” Syd admitted. “I think she got rid of it a couple of days ago because of that incident in the bathroom.”

“Oh, that’s right,” the smith nodded pausing at the reminder. “Well, you can perform a ritual and give Kerr a penis tonight, right? I still have some Kerrite left over from my tests, so I’ll use what I can while I work with the materials I have and plan out the different runes, too.”

“Then I guess I better get going,” Syd said as she gave Sabina a kiss on the top of her head. “The faster I’m finished with dresses, the faster I can get back here and help you make some lewd ingots.”

“Have fun trying on dresses!”

Out of all of the loves she had in her life, Sabina had to be the one with the weirdest class. Not that Jadis blamed the smith for the choices that she made or the things that she crafted; it was all Jadis’ fault, really. She was the one who had brought the crazy sex rituals into Sabina’s sphere, opening her up to the possibilities of incorporating lewdness into magic and enchantments. If they had never met, Jadis was sure that Sabina would have gone on to be an extremely talented, successful, and far less bizarre enchanter. As it was, she was still extremely talented and successful, she just had the addition of all sorts of weird sex skills added to her repertoire.

As Syd headed out of the workshop and made her way to where Alex and Hope would be waiting for her, Jadis dedicated that portion of her brain power to thinking over what exactly she would need to do to accommodate Sabina’s request for enchanting materials. Aside from Alex’s participation, growing Kerr a penis with a ritual, and retrieving some sterile containers, the only thing she really needed to work around was time.

Making magical metals out of her cum required a lot of output.

Sabina had gained the final level she had needed to reach CLR sixty a few days after the Demons were eradicated from Kastoria. Before the battle, she had been at CLR fifty-six, with thirty-two levels in Passionate Smith and twenty-four in Enchanter Smith of the Reborn. By the time all was said and done, she had gained a single level in her primary class but had gained three in her secondary. Aside from the couple free attribute points that she had received and distributed into her Focus, Sabina had earned three new skills. One was a progression of one she already had called Eleria Cycling.

Eleria Cycling II

Passive Skill. Provides a lesser boost to the quality of your eleria-crafted runes and the way they cycle magic power through their systems. Your eleria runes have a lesser increase to their energy efficiency and are much less likely to break.

The skill was the natural linear progression of the sorts of background improvements that classes gave and while nothing special in that sense, it was a welcome addition to Sabina’s list of skills since it made her that much more efficient an enchanter. The other two skills she had earned were significantly more unique.

Working Workshop Ward

Passive Skill. While residing within a dedicated workshop your Fortitude and Resilience attributes are increased by your CLR.

Coming from her Passionate Smith class, Working Workshop Ward seemed to be an acknowledgment from the system that even though Sabina was a non-combatant, she was often times thrust into dangerous situations. The fact that she had spent so much time crafting inside of a makeshift workshop in the back half of the Leviathan, sometimes while battles were raging just outside the cabin walls, likely had some influence on the offering of a defensive skill to a crafting class. It wouldn’t help her be a better smith, but in an emergency, it could help make sure she remained a living one, which was why everyone had unanimously insisted that Sabina take Working Workshop Ward.

Heat Tap

Active Skill. You can alter and displace the level of heat within an object you are crafting by tapping it with a hammer or similar tool. The heat can be dissipated into the air rather than elsewhere in the crafting material. The cost of the spell increases with the amount of heat displaced. Base cost – 5 magic.

The second skill that Sabina had gained from her enchanter class was called Heat Tap. From a smithing perspective, it was a powerful ability that gave Sabina incredibly fine control over the process of heating and molding metal. With a delicate touch, it could even be used on materials like eleria, so long as she didn’t strike the substance so hard that it shattered. Again, it wasn’t a flashy skill, but it was the sort of ability that any smith on Oros or Earth would kill for.

With that final level gained in the middle of the night while she had been up late studying the remains of one of the enchanted hexes from a Demon dome, Sabina had finally unlocked her tertiary class. Her options had been… interesting, to say the least. One of the classes available had not been bonded, though it had still seemed powerful, having a name like Arcane Enchanter of the Unknown. Bonded Power Crafter had also been an interesting option, as the description had implied the possibility of constructing things that sounded suspiciously like the magical version of power armor to Jadis. However, the choice Sabina had made was both the most potentially versatile, and the strangest. Because of course she would choose the one that specifically called for sex.

Bonded Prodigy of Lewd Innovations

You have forged a powerful bond, one that will either take you to exalted heights or to abyssal failure. Commit to the love and lust you feel and gain even greater power in reward. This class will allow you to create never before seen materials and alloys that only you will be able to utilize in the crafting of powerful enchantments. Deific quality enchantments are possible.

Deific quality enchantments was a term that had Sabina the most excited about the class. Just as all skills and spells went through a rating system, so too did enchantments. Minor, Lesser, Greater, Superior, and at the very top, Deific. Most enchanters, even if they took their class all the way to the maximum level of one hundred, wouldn’t unlock the ability to craft deific enchantments. Those were the sorts of legendary objects that were passed down for generations as sacred heirlooms. In fact, in Sabina’s opinion, the morphic weapon that Jadis had received from Vetregin was probably such an enchantment. By taking Bonded Prodigy of Lewd Innovations, Sabina had guaranteed herself the chance to one day craft the sorts of weapons or armor that would be held in a place of pride by a kingdom. Or in a dragon’s hoard. Possibly both, depending on how history progressed.

Those sorts of enchantments were for the future, though. In the meantime, Sabina was making ingots of magical metals out of Jadis’ semen.

Lewd Materials Manufacturing

Active Spell. Create a magic-enhanced material from the seed of your Bonded Lover, or the seed of any of your Bonded Lover’s other bonded mates. Each material is unique to the lover whose seed is used and will have properties that are specific to the donor. The Bonded Lover’s seed cannot be diluted with any other seed. Pure metal ore of greater quality and eleria in equal measure are required for production. One complete ingot weighs one pound. Cost – 100 magic. Duration – Channeled.

At some point, Jadis felt as though the constant call for her to supply her cum for her lovers to use in spells and rituals would become ridiculous. In fact, she was fairly certain that they had surpassed that point some months ago. However, whether the need was ridiculous or not, no one could argue with the results. Sabina’s new class had enabled her to create ingots of magically powerful metallic alloys that were better than anything the smith had ever worked with before or had even read about in her many crafting manuals and books. The new materials were better at holding magical charges than pure eleria by a factor of five, at a minimum. If such a boon required a bit of milking on her part, well, Jadis was happy to oblige.

Of course, just as the spell description stated, Sabina couldn’t make the new metals out of nothing but cum. She needed high-quality ores like cold flame steel, as well as eleria. She also needed to expend a lot of magic, channeling a hundred points over the course of half an hour to make each one-pound ingot. To help her with the task, Sabina had put all of her free attribute points into focus. She had also chosen Prodigy’s Reservoir as her level three skill for her tertiary class, giving her another ten points in Focus, so that her total upon reaching level four a few days after that was forty.

Prodigy’s Reservoir

Passive Skill. Increase the Focus attribute by 10 points.

While Sabina was still far behind Jadis and most of her lovers in terms of levels, she was still possibly the most practically useful member of the team. The amazing creations she was churning out with her incredible enchantment skills improved everyone’s capabilities and was also the main source of money coming in for their business. Even someone like High Priest Doru had to admit that Sabina had surpassed his abilities, at least in some areas, and she was only CLR sixty-four compared to his CLR one hundred and eight. What amazing innovations the scatterbrained genius would be introducing to the world in weeks and months to come had the crafting community waiting on the edge of their seats.

Jadis just hoped Sabina didn’t try to incorporate her Jadisite alloy into any commercial production, otherwise she was never going to get another good night’s rest again.
