Rebirth of the Nephilim
Chapter 733: POV Sniper
“Hold. Hold right there, you fucking stronzo…”
Kerr murmured under her breath as she held her bowstring at full extension. She had one of her phantom arrows knocked, as she didn’t want to waste a real arrow on such a distant shot. The strangely shadowy piece of ammunition didn’t look real, but it felt real enough squeezed between her fingers. More importantly, Kerr knew that it would feel real enough to whichever bitch was penetrated by it.
She waited, just as calm and patient in stalking her targets as she was not calm and patient in every other aspect of her life. She could wait. She would wait. Wait for that… perfect… moment…
“There!” Kerr exhaled as she released her arrow.
The small figure, barely visible standing on the city wall, was a human. A naked human. A naked human man that the Demons swarming across the battlements were leaving alone. That meant he was either possessed, or a cultist. He had been moving along the top of the wall, heading from the south northward, but he had come to a stop to stare at the ferocious plumes of fire that Jadis and her Flyers had dropped on top of the city. Kerr didn’t blame him. She would have stopped to stare at the explosions too.
But she didn’t, because she wasn’t a fucking idiot who stood around in the open gaping at shit like a damned fish while a battle was going on.
Kerr grinned viciously when she saw her arrow strike the man in the head, just above his left ear. The force of the shot was such that the arrow went clean through, exiting his skull on the other side, leaving behind a small, ragged hole. A moment later, Kerr’s satisfaction was spoiled when she saw the man catch his stumbling step, straighten, and turn to look in her direction.
“Fucking possessed,” she cursed while drawing another arrow.
She shouldn’t have bothered. The possessed man disappeared from sight in the next moment, depriving Kerr of any attempt at a second shot. Unfortunate that it wasn’t a killing blow, but considering how much damage she could do with her combined skills, the Demon had to be hurting. Maybe it would find healing, but healing outside of personal regeneration wasn’t common among Demons. Hopefully, the next time the fucker showed his head, he’d be that much easier to kill.
Well, that was just making excuses, wasn’t it? Kerr didn’t shoot to wound. She’d just have to make sure that the next target she chose, she fired a few more arrows in quick succession, just to make sure that the kill was secured. Maybe it’d be a waste of ammo, but frankly, she’d rather waste arrows than the lives of her allies.
Sweeping the battlefield before her for another worthy target, Kerr nodded in approval at the destruction she was seeing. Aila and her far-less-sexy mage crew were doing a great job of pulping the Demons who were stupid enough to come running up the hill, and any that were making it all the way to the front line weren’t lasting long. Sure, it looked like some of the more troublesome bastards like the big ones made of stone were inflicting a few casualties, but for the most part, there wasn’t much on the field that could put up a fight against queen bitches like Thea and Bridget. Kerr was even willing to give Halvor, Ludger, and Lucia their due. For the moment.
Spotting a large lump moving through the soil towards the left flank of their defensive formation, Kerr considered handling it herself, then stopped. With a sigh, she turned to look at the group of archers who were standing on her left. Most of them were, bluntly, morons. But her older sister, Raya, was in the pack, and she wasn’t a bad sort. Annoying and clingy, but not bad. So, Kerr pointed out the approaching threat and shouted some orders that the group and, by extension, Raya would follow.
“Get yourselves focused on that shite right there! Left, you dumb fucks, left! See it!? Yes!? Volley on three, two one, fire!”
Dozens of arrows rained down on the Demon just as it burst out of the ground, piercing its scaled hide. It was one of those possessed cow lizard things, which wasn’t something that should be let near the shield wall if it could be helped. The barrage of arrows mostly landed true but wasn’t enough to kill the beast. Kerr hadn’t expected them to. However, they’d get better experience points for participating directly in slaying the Demon, rather than just the passive ambient bonus experience.
“See? I’m not always a greedy bitch,” Kerr muttered to herself as she lined up her own shot. “Just when it comes to cock.”
The massively empowered arrow hit the beast square between the eyes, piercing with enough force to bury the fletching deep within its head. The system notification that flashed in the corner of her eye was almost unnecessary as the big lizard collapsed to the ground like a drunk on top of a cheap whore. A moment later, Kerr saw a shirtless human run up to the dead creature, kick the body, then turn and wave one of his axes in her direction.
“Love you too, Halvy!” Kerr shouted and made kissy noises at the barbarian. “Try being faster next time!”
Speaking of faster, the sound of Noll and his fast boys circling around the formation to head out along the south side of the city drew Kerr’s attention. It was almost fun to watch them run. It genuinely was fun to watch Meli run, especially in that weird ass modified spider form that she had. Kerr was still a little mad at her and Jadis for hiding that whole “attribute, skill, and form enhanced” version from her and the others. It was completely unfair to keep such a delightfully twisted form from her. Didn’t they know how many fun ideas Kerr had come up with once she knew Meli could change her body to look like that?
Probably they had suspected, which was why they had hidden it from her.
Eh, that was alright. Kerr would get her chance to have her fun later. For that moment, she kept her eyes on the land around the group, suspecting opportunities for a good snipe would arise as the Runners drew close to the ring of lightning domes. They probably wouldn’t be stupid enough to get within range of the spells that the domes could cast again, but they’d still probably draw fire either from Demons hiding underground, or long-range attacks on the walls. Maybe she’d even get a shot at the fucking Skull Blob, if the damned piece of dried cum would ever show its ugly face.
Taking a few shots at larger targets, Kerr mostly observed the battle as it progressed for the next few minutes. Jadis had dropped her big, sexy payload on top of the Demons early, which meant that she had reverted to hurling rocks at her targets inside the walls. Kerr didn’t look down on her mate for taking such a primitive approach to solving the problem. In fact, it was her blunt, straightforward methodology that she loved about Jadis. Well, that and her big cock, sexy ass, gloriously perverted personality, and overprotective instincts.
Where was she? Kerr blinked away thoughts of how Jadis had used her mouth last night and focused back on the battle at hand. Again, she wasn’t some idiot who stood around gawping at the air.
The point was, Jadis was doing the right thing. Big rocks thrown at high speeds equaled big damage to whatever was hit. No need to get fancy. The magic explosions had the whole awe-inspiring thing going for them, but they weren’t necessary. Big rock would get the job done.
Kerr grinned as she watched three of Jadis’ big rocks do just that by slamming into the side of a wall tower that was likely hiding one of the carbuncle Demon things. The whole damned structure collapsed as one side of it fell in on itself, causing a cloud of dust to rise up and join the smoke lingering in the air. If there had been any Demons inside that watchtower, they sure as shite weren’t happy about it.
A part of her wondered how much of Kastoria would be left intact by the time they were through with the place. Obviously, leaving the buildings standing took a step back in the line compared to ridding the city of all the Demons and cultists infesting it, but if they did enough damage, Volto might not be able to rebuild. Kerr has seen a few cities like that in her travels across the continent; places that had once been thriving centers of life and trade reduced to rubble by long ago wars. Kastoria could join that number. Especially if Jadis kept up her bombardment.
As she had the thought, a streak of purple lightning split the air, catching one of the three giant figures flying past the southern section of the wall. Kerr winced as she saw all three of Jadis’ bodies lose control and dive for the water, hitting it hard with a splash that sent waves rippling across the sea. That was the terrible weakness of Jadis’ multiple bodies. Magic that affected one affected them all. Clearly, the lightning had managed to paralyze her. Kerr wasn’t worried, though. She knew that Jadis could handle such a measly attack without a problem. Besides, when she sent a not-at-all worried glance in Eir’s directions, she could see that her favorite little boob elf was perfectly calm. If Jadis had been truly in trouble, Eir would have been taking action. In fact, as Kerr cast her eyes back over the water, she could already see the signs of Jadis pulling her way out of the harbor. No, there was nothing to worry about at all when it came to her mate.
What did worry Kerr, at least a little bit, was when she saw the cloud of winged monsters rise up out of the city.
“Been wondering when these mrazota would show their hides,” Kerr muttered. “Just waiting for the big wolf to clear the field, huh?”
To her archers, Kerr shouted her warning more clearly.
“Get ready! Flying Demons are in the sky! Treat anything with wings as priority number one! If I see any soldier carried off by a stymphalia or a wyvern, I’ll kick your asses up into the air and make you drag them back down!”
No more fooling around. The battle up to that point had been just an appetizer. Sure, the enemy had sent a few hundred Demons out to harass them, but inside the cesspit were tens of thousands more. What they had been dealing with so far had been nothing more than the impatient Demons wasting their lives. The smart ones would be waiting inside the protective barrier of the lightning domes. Until they managed to breach that barrier, no real progress would be made.
The first step in bashing down the demonic fortress was getting rid of the acid-spewing sack chuckers. The second step, which had come whether the first was over or not, was dealing with the flyers. Once both were gone, it would be a lot fucking easier to deal with the Demons at range, breaking down the domes and walls without getting blown up or razed in the process.
For the rest of the archers, the Demons taking to the sky were still too far away to even attempt a shot. For Kerr, they were a bit too far out of her comfortable range for a reliable hit, but she didn’t see any reason not to take a few shots into the crowd and hope for some luck. Pulling back her bowstring, Kerr took aim and released, then did so again a few more times. The satisfaction of seeing at least one of the giant birds abruptly fall out of the sky sent a thrill up her tail.
Level Up! Bonded Slut Sniper has Reached Level 26. 2 Attribute Points Awarded. |
Well, that was a pleasant surprise. Kerr quickly tossed the two points onto her Dexterity, boosting the stat up to seven hundred and eighteen. It was only two points, but at the distances she was currently shooting, every little bit of extra accuracy helped.
Taking aim again, Kerr prepared to unleash another arrow when she spotted a winged figure in red armor fly past the swarm of stymphalia and attack a Seraphim with a metallic right wing.
Victus. Or was it Vitus? Virus? Whatever the fuck the shitheel’s name was didn’t make a difference. What mattered was, it was the fucking possessed Seraphim that had helped kidnap Alex. The damned govno needed to be sent to the abyss, fast as possible. Unfortunately, there wasn’t a chance that Kerr would be the one to do it.
Severina and the V-something were moving too fast. Their forms flashed through the sky, locking blades for only a moment before breaking away, circling around, and striking at each other again. It was a constant barrage of slashes, dives, spins, and flashes of divine light. Several Seraphim and Demons who drew close to the two dueling masters were batted away, by blade or by wing, and soon enough it was clear that the two would be left alone to finish their battle.
Except, Kerr knew that even if she couldn’t support Sev from her current range, that didn’t mean that their personal toe sucker had to fight alone. It was probably best if Noct stayed out of it, since she hadn’t even unlocked her third class, but there was no way Jadis wouldn’t be all over Vidi Veni like a wolf on red meat.
Where the fuck was Jadis, anyway?
Searching the skies for a moment, Kerr turned her attention to the waters where she had last seen her sexy lover. After a moment, she felt her eyebrows rise to her hairline. There, in the surf of the harbor, she saw white tendrils and black armor toss and turning in the sea. A sea that had turned green with the acid spilled from a titanic blob of… something. Something that had a lot of tentacles, a lot of bulk, and a good hold of her mate.
“Well, at least that shouldn’t be hard to hit,” Kerr muttered as she aimed her next shot.
