Chapter 188: Didn’t Have the Intention or Guts
The wait was always long.
When it was past three in the afternoon, the red light on the operating theater door finally went out.
The door opened and two nurses pushed a cart out. Wang Yunmei’s eyes were closed as she lay there motionless.
Jian Ai, Jian Yu, and Wu Shaoqi quickly surrounded them. The nurse saw this and said, “Family members, don’t worry. The surgery went smoothly.”
Everyone heaved a sigh of relief when they heard this. Then, they saw Xiao Zhen take off his mask and walk out. Jian Yu went up to thank him, albeit agitatedly, “Doctor Xiao, thank you so much.”
As he spoke, his eyes could not help but turn red.
Even if Doctor Xiao kept telling them that there was no problem, as her son, how could he be completely at ease? Now that the surgery was successful, Jian Yu felt relieved. He was so excited that he almost shed tears.
Xiao Zhen was as indifferent as usual. He just nodded at Jian Yu.
Because there were others present, Xiao Zhen only glanced at Jian Ai and said nothing. Then, he instructed the nurse to push Wang Yunmei into the intensive care unit and observe her for twenty-four hours.
This step was just following the hospital’s procedures. Patients who had undergone Xiao Zhen’s hands never needed to be observed.
Family members could not enter the intensive care unit. After they pushed Wang Yunmei inside, they had to stop right outside.
“Uncle Wu.” Jian Ai walked up to Wu Shaoqi and said, “You’ve been waiting for so long. My mom is fine now, so you can go back. My brother and I, as juniors, feel bad that you’re worried and tired.”
Wu Shaoqi looked at Wang Yunmei, who was lying on the hospital bed, through the glass. His heart ached for her, but he could not show these emotions. In everyone’s eyes, he and Wang Yunmei were just friends.
He had lost his wife in his early years, and Wang Yunmei had a child before she got married. The two of them had to be careful when they interacted. Otherwise, there would be another round of gossip.
He didn’t care about that himself, but he didn’t want Wang Yunmei to suffer.
He nodded. “Alright, I’ll go back first. Find me if anything happens.”
While Jian Yu sent Uncle Wu off, Jian Ai went to Xiao Zhen’s office.
“Sect Master.”
When he saw Jian Ai, Xiao Zhen quickly stood up.
Jian Ai waved her hand and gestured for him to sit down and talk. Then, she walked to the opposite of Xiao Zhen and sat down. She looked at Xiao Zhen and asked, “Will just one surgery be enough?”
Xiao Zhen nodded. “One is enough. I will prepare the medicine personally in the future. Sect Master, don’t worry.”
Only then was Jian Ai completely relieved.
At night, Jian Yu and Jian Ai went home.
Chen Jin was cleaning the bass he had just bought in the kitchen. When he saw Jian Yu suddenly coming back, he was shocked.
“Brother Yu!” Chen Jin hurriedly washed his hands with the tap and walked quickly to Jian Yu.
Jian Yu looked at the food he bought and the half-done bass in the kitchen. Then, he looked at Chen Jin, who had changed his appearance. He was a little surprised. He stared at Chen Jin for a long time before saying slowly, “Xiao Ai said that you were staying at home, so I came back to look.”
Chen Jin scratched his head in embarrassment when he heard that. He said in a low voice, “I’m sorry, Brother Yu. Jian Ai took me in because she saw I had nowhere to go.”
As if knowing what Jian Yu was worried about, Chen Jin quickly guaranteed with a serious face, “Brother Yu, don’t worry. I promise to be honest and obedient, and not cause you any trouble.”
As he spoke, he looked at Jian Ai and thought to himself, ‘Those who dare to be dishonest with this sister of yours are as if courting death. He didn’t have this intention nor the guts.’
