Chapter 1309: Chapter 1181: "Secret Weapon
After dinner, Miao Lishan had recently become infatuated with a television series and was planning to enjoy it while making tea, as Zhou Jiao noticed the men of the family entering the study with her dad.
She decided to keep her mother company!
As for what was on Wu’s mind, how could she, as a mother, not know? Having raised her son herself, she could guess what he was thinking just by watching him roll his eyes.
But it was still the same old saying: Fly, as long as you can land safely.
Furthermore, with her dad supervising and her husband’s protective nature, Zhou Jiao really didn’t want to join them in the study for discussions. Without her presence, the kids could speak more freely.
She wondered what nonsense Zhang Guoqing had instilled in the kids, always making the three sons feel like they needed protection.
Sigh... Her son was reluctant for his mother to worry, but as a mother, she was just as afraid of them being overly cautious.
Miao Lishan saw her sitting there pickling embroidery threads and couldn’t help but advise, "Don’t embroider if there’s nothing going on; it’s bad for your eyes. Those embroiderers from before almost went blind."
Zhou Jiao snapped back to reality at her words and smiled, "I’m just bored. I only embroider one piece a year now, so it won’t harm my eyes. I’d like to embroider something as a keepsake."
"As long as you like it." Miao Lishan thought for a moment, then asked, "Should I find someone to buy some? I remember someone mentioned selling them last time."
Zhou Jiao saw her frowning and quickly stopped her.
She was purely worried about her skills becoming rusty and had no interest in collecting other people’s embroidery. Besides, she had plenty of treasures left by her grandmother, full of good stuff.
Miao Lishan saw she wasn’t interested and let it drop, turning to another topic, "Should we visit your in-laws back in the Northeast before Wu travels abroad?"
Zhou Jiao’s hand paused for a moment before she replied, "Yes. But perhaps we should have them come over instead, as Wu will be busy submitting his materials and won’t be able to leave."
"Then send them a telegram early, so they won’t be unable to come over and be put in a difficult position," Miao Lishan advised, adjusting the small TV’s volume, "Send them more things, don’t let people say you don’t care for the elderly."
Zhou Jiao laughed and nodded.
"Don’t laugh. If your great aunt were still alive, she’d always remind me a few times, like when the weather gets warmer, to send Xiao Wu’s parents a couple of spring outfits."
"Alright."
"And don’t make it yourself; let a tailor handle it," Miao Lishan said, eyeing her daughter’s clothes. "You should make a few more outfits for yourself too. And for our Wu, going abroad...
"Mom, having money is enough for going abroad."
"How can it be the same? Fine, I’ll handle it."
Zhou Jiao smiled without objecting.
Actually, buying clothes abroad was easier, with more novel styles. Even if they bought something that couldn’t be taken home, they didn’t need to worry, as the three sons had similar builds.
"Have you talked to Xiao Ming recently? He said he’d definitely get married this year, but I wonder if he’s found someone. Do you think he would listen to his father about an arranged marriage?"
"I don’t think so. From what he says, his father feels indebted to him and his mother and prioritizes him. However, I don’t oppose arranged marriages. If you want to find a Chinese spouse abroad, it’s best to know their background. Otherwise, who can stand a fake foreigner?"
Miao Lishan pondered for a moment before nodding in agreement, "That makes a lot of sense. When I accompanied your dad on a visit abroad, I heard things were very chaotic there."
Chaotic in what way?
Miao Lishan didn’t elaborate, and Zhou Jiao didn’t ask. For safety, her mom would never venture alone into poverty-stricken areas.
Putting safety aside, the most notable issue abroad was the liberality. There was likely a lot of hugging and whatnot.
Speaking of which, foreigners are quite enthusiastic, so she might have to give her sons a lesson. She wasn’t keen on mixed-race grandchildren.
The study door, as she expected, opened in less than an hour, and they returned to the living room happily to chat with her and her mom.
So secretive!
Zhou Jiao glanced at them with a half-smile—she couldn’t catch her son, but she had a secret weapon!
When the night deepened and it was time to rest, Zhou Jiao opened a window, and the spring breeze blew away her sleepiness as she looked at the "secret weapon" coming in.
"Don’t stand in the wind; you might get a headache tomorrow."
"Brother, sleepy yet?"
Zhang Guoqing smiled knowingly, "Want to know?"
"Hehe."
"What’s the reward?" Zhang Guoqing raised his eyebrows and opened his arms, "Come, give me some interest first."
Zhou Jiao wanted to say she was as strong and unyielding as a man should be, yet she happily fell into his arms. A mighty man? In front of her husband, she was just a little woman.
A tender little woman!
Word has it some newly emerging fox spirits were on the prowl again, and even the old wife couldn’t afford to be neglected.
The couple got cozy...
Coming out of the bathroom, an hour had already passed.
Zhang Guoqing held his drowsy wife, eyes flashing with pride. He lifted the quilt, held her tightly, and lay down together.
For such a life, who would trade it for anything less?
Lying in bed, Zhou Jiao, slightly awakened, gathered her spirits, lazily poking at his chest, "Brother, you haven’t said what you discussed yet?"
"It seems you still have energy."
Zhou Jiao quickly withdrew her hand, secretly rolling her eyes, "Oh, I’m so tired."
"Haha..." Zhang Guoqing was about to burst into laughter but was immediately silenced by her covering his mouth, "Don’t laugh, definitely don’t laugh."
"I definitely trust you."
Zhang Guoqing kissed the hand covering his mouth, tilting his head, "What a silly girl!"
Isn’t that so? If he resisted, could she really hold his mouth shut with her strength? Zhou Jiao angrily pulled at his ear.
In truth, she wanted to pinch his waist, didn’t they say women love to pinch their husband’s waist? Apparently, in bathhouses, men like to see whose waist has bruises.
Unfortunately, for a man with six-pack abs, his waist had no extra flesh, and pinching too hard wouldn’t hurt him and would actually be painful for her hand.
"Darling, I’ll tell you, I’ll tell you..."
Zhang Guoqing quickly coaxed her, knowing that although she loved him, she wouldn’t pull hard enough to hurt, it wouldn’t be good if she got really angry. Couples having fun was fine, but they shouldn’t get into real arguments!
"Hurry up and tell me!"
"Okay!" Zhang Guoqing cleared his throat, "Wu’s old professor talked to him, wanting him to go to the United States to major in political science and economics."
Zhou Jiao nudged him to keep him going, why stop?
"Our Wu, he listened to you say to travel abroad while young, and he decided to spend two or three years getting a doctorate."
Zhou Jiao said jokingly, "Is it because he blew his horn too much?"
"Not really blowing his horn, he just said it in front of us. But he has the capability to say it."
"Right, your son is the best." Zhou Jiao noticed he was going in circles and directly asked, "That’s the official plan, what’s the real plan?"
