In just two days, Tong Yan had a two-day tour with the crew.

Whenever they did anything even slightly intimate, there would be people pretending to pass by, glancing over from time to time, their eyes lighting up with gossip, shooting during the day, sticking together at night, even driving up the mountain to watch the stars blanket the sky.

Entering this line of work means you can’t date like ordinary people, but a date like this is already quite satisfying.

Happy days always fly by quickly, and just like that, two days had passed.

Two evenings later, Tong Yan was called by Director Meng, who said there was something urgent she needed to attend to. She bid farewell to the film emperor and got into the car back to the crew.

These two days were just as she had expected; the notification she wanted never came, meaning this trial performance was indeed a failure.

Even though Tong Yan had anticipated such a result, she couldn’t help but feel a bit uneasy inside.

Since being reborn, everything had gone smoothly for her; she passed each acting role on the first try, and she was confident in her acting skills, maybe even a bit overconfident. However, she was merely using up the resources from her past life, thinking she was amazing, invincible even, but reality gave her a harsh lesson.

There’s always a bigger mountain, a higher sky, and people better than you.

She couldn’t rely on her past life’s experiences to live this life, being stuck in that mindset was clearly wrong.

She knew she was being suppressed during the performance and tried to impress, which made her come across as forced.

Ultimately, her skills were just not there yet.

Li Xin saw her in a bad mood, feeling a bit worried. “Sister, it’s just that they couldn’t see talent. We have better things ahead. Directors from overseas are reaching out to us, we don’t need him.”

Tong Yan shook her head, “I’m fine.”

Li Xin sighed; her sister looked so dejected. Didn’t Young Master Mo comfort her? Seems Young Master Mo wasn’t much help either.

The atmosphere in the car remained heavy until they reached their destination, Beijing International Hotel.

This is a five-star hotel, decorated magnificently. From the outside, it looks like a palace. It’s very famous in Beijing; wealthy people usually come here.

Tong Yan frowned. Why are they meeting here when they have to shoot tomorrow?

Is Director Meng perhaps going to splurge and treat everyone to a meal?

After all, there are precedents, like what Director Li and Director Wang had done before.

Being a foodie, that’s all she could think of.

Tong Yan walked in and entered the private room, seeing a large round table surrounded by several unfamiliar and familiar faces.

“Yu, Lanlan.” Tong Yan sat down next to them, “What’s going on here?”

Jiang Yu shook her head, “Wasn’t it Director Meng who asked us to come? Why isn’t she here?”

Besides the three of them, there were other girls from the crew, and the rest were unfamiliar faces — men around their forties or fifties, balding, with big bellies, ogling at them with lecherous eyes.

Tong Yan thought of something unpleasant, and her face suddenly darkened.

One of the men picked up a wine glass, went to a girl nearby, touched her small hand, and lecherously said, “Come, have a drink.”

That sentence seemed to remind the others.

They each picked a girl they were satisfied with.

One of them approached Tong Yan.

“You’ve been quite popular lately, want a good contract? Being a female star, age isn’t kind, so why not earn while you’re young? If you keep me company for a few nights, you can have whatever you want…”
