Chapter 829 - 827: The Reporters’ Sudden Shift in Style

Tong Yan was wearing a white T-shirt and black wide-leg pants, and even though the outfit was simple, she managed to wear it with a unique charm. Barefaced, yet she was already captivating with delicate brows and eyes and skin as fair as porcelain, instantly becoming the center of attention.

As soon as she arrived, she dazzled everyone present.

The reporters wanted to rush forward for interviews, but remembering their current predicament, they suddenly froze.

Truly too scared to try—if this girl faints again, their careers might as well be over!

Seeing the hesitation in their eyes, Tong Yan smiled. She stepped forward onto the stage and solemnly bowed to them, "Those days I was suffering from insomnia, and my physical condition wasn’t great. It wasn’t your fault, and I apologize for causing you trouble."

The reporters were astonished.

What kind of play was this, apologizing right off the bat?

However, in all their years in the entertainment industry, they had never encountered such a situation. Which star doesn’t have a love-hate relationship with them, mutually beneficial for everyone?

"But I don’t apologize for what I did that day." Tong Yan paused, then changed her tone with a playful wink, "I just hope you will go easy on me in the future, gentlemen."

The reporters caught her meaning; in a few short sentences, she clarified the following points:

1. The fainting had nothing to do with the reporters.

2. There was indeed an urgent matter that day, hence the correct attitude.

3. She expressed hope that the reporters would distinguish between what matters and what doesn’t in the future.

Though her words carried a hidden message, they were delivered with ease, and even if there was a hint of threat or warning, it still made the reporters feel much better emotionally. At last, someone stood up for them, and it happened to be the person involved, instantly dispelling the grievances they had felt over these days.

Everyone began applauding, feeling grateful to her; she was genuinely speaking up for them.

At this moment, Tong Yan solemnly bowed before the cameras without saying a word.

While everyone was guessing whom she was bowing to, Director Meng, who just happened to be watching TV, understood. It was an apology to him because she had performed an action seen only in TV dramas.

Director Meng sighed. When she suddenly left and couldn’t be reached by phone, he was angry because it had delayed progress significantly, and the shoot still hadn’t resumed. He even considered recasting and shooting again.

However, after seeing what had been filmed, he dismissed the thought. Cui Jinxiu seemed to have been born for her role, and she was worth the wait. Upon seeing this today, all his anger dissipated.

After all, everyone has urgent times, right?

The next part was the question session from the reporters.

Having learned their lesson over the past few days, the reporters were much gentler in their questioning, a stark contrast to their usual sharpness.

"Little Fatty, is your health better now?"

"Little Fatty, you look like you’ve lost a lot of weight. Have you not been eating much these days?"

"Little Fatty, when will ’Thunder Drug Squad’ be released? What do you think of the box office?"

...

Prepared for sharp, attacking questions, Tong Yan was instantly bewildered. Wasn’t something wrong here?

Why had the reporters become so gentle?

Did she step into the wrong scene, hey!

Were they not going to ask about relationship changes or anything?

She had already prepared to show off her romance, hey!

How was she supposed to show it off now!

Due to temporary needs, no venue spots were booked in major arenas, so they directly set up a space outside. Normally, the venue wasn’t crucial. What mattered was the content of the press conference itself.

Thus, from all directions came crowds of people, all looking unfriendly, surrounding the venue.
