Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space
Chapter 1415: Reputation
"Your health is good, but you’re still tired. You look drained now, which is a sign of relaxation after tension.
Don’t worry, just take care of yourself. Eat more nutritious food. Accountant Li, the village kills pigs every day, make sure you save some pig’s blood and big bones to make soup for your wife."
"Doctor Liu, don’t we need anything else? No medicine?"
"No need, your wife’s health is good. There’s no need for medicine. All medicine has side effects, just take good care of her."
Li Yunqiang was relieved. The couple thanked Doctor Liu and went home.
"Wife, you take a rest. I’ll go to the pig farm to inform them about tomorrow’s pig slaughtering, and have them save the bones for us." He checked to see if there was any pig blood today.
"Okay, you go. By the way, remember to fill the coal in the new house. I plan to move in when it gets cold."
"Got it, the furniture is almost ready. We’ll move in at the start of December."
Li Yunqiang went out happily. When he returned, he carried a basin of pig’s blood. Then, he went to the kitchen and turned it into blood tofu. He also went out to buy some blocks of tofu.
After Li Yunqiang left, Yue Lanfeng fell asleep. She probably felt relieved, so she slept very sweetly.
Li Yunqiang came in to take a look, and then continued with his work. He would cook lunch.
By noon, the village all knew that Li Yunqiang’s new wife was pregnant, and that she hadn’t delayed the harvest by saying so.
Qu Xiaoli was cooking while talking to her daughter-in-law, "I remember your Fourth Aunt asked me, but I was busy working and didn’t pay attention. She is indeed an honest person."
"Yes, my Fourth Aunt seems pretty good."
"Yes, and now your Fourth Uncle is working more proactively than before."
The mother and daughter both laughed. Things were pretty good like this.
"Mom, won’t you tell Shuxin and Shu Wen later?"
"Yes, when I see them, I’ll mention it."
The children are already in school now. When Shuxin and his brother came home and saw their father cooking today, they helped with what they could.
"Shuxin, Shu Wen, your Aunt is pregnant. You both should help out more with what you can."
Both of them were teenagers and knew what pregnancy meant, implying that there would be a new baby at home.
The two did not say anything, and after going to school, learned a lot, mainly about how to conduct oneself.
Li Yunqiang kept an eye on his sons, worried they might not be happy.
But seeing no change in them, he was reassured.
Li Yunqiang woke Yue Lanfeng for lunch, "I don’t want to eat; I just want to sleep now. You all eat."
"Eat first, then sleep."
Finally, Yue Lanfeng got up to eat. "Do you have time tomorrow?"
"Why? Want to go back to Zheng Family Village for a visit?"
"Yes, there’s nothing much now. I haven’t been back since we got married."
"The day after tomorrow then. I’ll go to the county tomorrow to deliver eggs and bring some snacks back too, as we can’t go back empty-handed.
But we need to come back the day after tomorrow, since the village has consecutive festive events, I need to help."
"Yes, I won’t stay overnight then." After all, there are two half-grown boys at home. After a few months of getting along, these two kids don’t try to please me but aren’t annoying either.
There seem to be happy events in Li Family Village every few days, weddings, and daughters getting married. Anyway, everyone almost always gets a treat every few days.
The elders chatted together, mostly about how good life is now.
They never thought they’d live like this, and they all say it’s worth it.
Jing Chu has received several letters from Chaoyang now, and Li Xue smiled at her sister-in-law, "Jing Chu, you should go visit."
"But I still want to stay at home to take care of you and my nephew."
"Your brother is here now and has also nothing much to do. Even if he goes out with the Red Army, isn’t there still my Second Aunt?
Dad is almost always at the distillery now, and they have food there. When the time comes, I’ll move to my Second Aunt’s house so I’ll have company with my sister-in-law."
"Jing Chu, you should go. My brother Chaoyang is going crazy."
"I don’t want to take the train alone."
"You won’t be alone; Yang Family’s three siblings are going back, aren’t they?"
Jing Chu helplessly looked at her sister-in-law. "Okay, I’ll talk to Dad when he gets back."
"Haha, Jing Chu, stop making excuses. Go ask Teacher Jiang first to see when the Yang Family siblings are leaving."
Jiang Xinyu was worried here; the two younger ones from the Yang Family just didn’t want to leave.
Yang Zhongyi has come over several times, probably because the family called to urge them, but Yu Jie just won’t go.
It’s awkward to ask them to leave, as if to drive them away.
Jing Chu came over. "Aunt Jiang, when are the Yang Family siblings leaving?"
"I still don’t know, Yang Run Tai hasn’t said anything." Actually, if Yang Run Tai wants to go back, Yu Jie has no choice.
"What’s up? Did Chaoyang write to urge you?"
"Yes, I’ve received five letters already."
"Actually, going back with them is quite safe and lets us rest assured. If you were on your own, we wouldn’t allow you to leave."
Yang Run Tai came in and overheard this. He smiled, "Aunt Wei, we’re leaving the day after tomorrow. Thank you for taking care of us these months."
They indeed were taken care of, as they ate, lived, and studied with Jiang’s children.
"Did Yu Jie agree?"
"She’s unwilling, but I told her to return and seek family’s consent, and come back next year."
Jiang Xinyu thought to herself, coming back again? But she didn’t dislike the three Yang Family kids, especially Yu Jie who was straightforward and quite likable.
Yang Run Tai saw Jiang Xinyu’s expression and understood she didn’t want the responsibility. He didn’t blame her, as he also didn’t want to leave here.
But there were many matters, so leaving was a must.
"Sure, if they want to come and your family agrees, let them come."
"Aunt Wei, actually Yu Jie wants Feifei and the two of them to go back together. Right now, they’re trying to convince Feifei." Those two boys had no objection, while the little girl had been trying for over ten days but hadn’t relented yet.
Jiang Xinyu laughed, knowing how much her daughter didn’t want to go out.
"But this isn’t for me to decide. Even if Feifei agrees, Uncle Wei must consent."
Jiang Feifei is his precious treasure, and Wei Kaiyun definitely wouldn’t agree.
Yang Run Tai also knew, as Wai Kaiyun was the biggest hurdle, unlikely to agree. But he really wanted to bring the little girl along to have someone to chat with on the journey.
