In front of a giggling college student, a collection of neatly packaged items materialized on the floor as the bronze box dissolved and vanished.

"Ehehe....I gained quite a lot."

My name is Kailita Pennypincher, but everyone calls me Kite.

I am an orphan on a college scholarship, and I enjoy staying in my room and playing games all day.

Thanks to how much of a genius I am, I barely need to listen in on lectures and always ace my grades, putting in the bearable amount of time into attendance so I don’t lose my scholarship.

More than studying, I enjoy playing games the most, and I find people quite hard to deal with. I am in my second year, and others from my class call me a shut-in weirdo, but i don’t care—

I like having fun, and i like playing games. Oh... and i also like cute and pretty boys. But what does that matter if I am too shy to even talk to them? Games are better; I can play with all the cute boys I want in games as well. It was like killing two birds with one stone— There was no need for me to leave my cozy room except when necessary.

But today, out of nowhere, while I was busy gaming, something unbelievable occurred. A loud sound in my head, followed by a system that strangely followed the mechanics of a game.

Looking through my windows, the dormitory had descended into chaos, with mutants chasing and feasting on students as far as the eye could see. Good thing I was such a shut-in; if not, I would have been one of those unfortunate students being pounced on by their peers.

Thinking fast, I padded the door to the room with furniture, keeping my eyes locked on the speedy commentary of the chat channels.

As frightened as I was, I couldn’t help but feel this sense of excitement deep inside.

As a typical gamer, the very next thing I did after securing my door and being as quiet as I could be was delve straight into my character status to see what class I had awakened—

Upon seeing the class I awakened, I was both excited and a little concerned. It wasn’t a class that excelled in pure combat prowess, but it was quite special, making my heart race at the thought of using such a game-like ability in real life.

Still, I was scared.... I was so very scared to step outside. They said you can gain origin crystals by hunting those mutants, but who would be stupid enough to risk their lives for that, except for those monsters on the rankings. My class skill wasn’t even catered to damage dealing—

At least, that was what I thought until the announcement for the commencement of the treasure hunt event.

And as if luck was smiling upon me, one of those treasure chest drops happened to spawn in our college auditorium, which was only a few meters from the female dormitories.

Yet, there were clear obstacles along the way; flash-eating mutants who were crying in hunger prowled the halls of the dorms, as well as every other zone of the college grounds.

But my class skill.... Though I can’t risk applying it in real combat with any mutant since I don’t even know the first thing about fighting— I thought it was possible to use it in getting my hands on that treasure chest.

There was barely any supply left in my room, and I can’t go out to restock. To further complicate matters, all consumables were going bad as if infested by some unknown wave of rot.

But if it’s that treasure box, one which promised to contain items necessary for my continued survival in this new exciting world..... It was probably possible to get my hands on it without risking too much if I used my class skill.

I had a unique class, after all, that seemed suited for this type of thing, so after testing the skill a few times in my room, I braved up, activated my class skill, opened my door, and dashed for the location of the treasure chest on the map.

What I discovered was that I had become fast.... Incredibly so.

There was no agility stat on my status, just the physique stat, but I think that because of my unique class, even my normal speed had been boosted.

Add that to this Dash skill; I was able to reach the auditorium, grab the treasure, and return back to my room faster than those mutants could react to.

"kekekeke.... " Kite laughed victoriously as she zapped from one corner of her room to the next at incredible speeds. The euphoria of using game-like abilities in real life was just incredible.

"Ehehe.....now you see me...."

Zrrt!

"Now you don’t."

She dashed happily through her room, but all of a sudden, a sense of weakness and emptiness settled into her, her ability cancelling out as she collapsed to the ground of her modest dorm room, panting hard and perspiring.

"Haa... urgh..."

"It’s this again."

Kite was probably the fastest human in this world, but there was one problem—

When she used her skill too much, it took a painfully long time for her mentality stat to recover; so in that time, she can’t use her skill, and the feeling of exhausting one’s mentality stat...

"Shit... this shitty feeling."

"Eh...it doesn’t matter. With this power....kekeke..."

"No one can catch me anymore..... Hehehe."
