Rebirth: I have Monopoly System
Chapter 436 - 378: Sharing a Bed, Greenlighting The Immortal Ascension
"Feifei, you really don’t mind us all being together?" Wen Meng looked curious. After all, she was the latecomer. If the roles were reversed, she wasn’t sure she could be as generous as Qi Fei.
Qi Fei smiled faintly. "Since we’re as close as sisters, why sweat the small stuff? Let’s just work together to keep Xiaoyunzi’s ’backyard’ in order! As long as we don’t let any other vixens get in, we’ll be fine!"
"Come on! Let’s go see if Xiaoyunzi is all clean!"
Watching Qi Fei’s figure disappear down the hallway, Wen Meng broke into a smile. She got up, swaying her slender waist, and followed, her slippers slapping against the floor.
A moment later, Wu Yun’s voice came from the room. "What are you two doing? Meng Meng, aren’t you on your period?"
SPLASH.
"Aunt Flo went home!
"Hehehe, My Lord, we’re here for you~"
...
Wu Yun opened his eyes to find it was already broad daylight.
Feeling the two gentle, exquisite beauties beside him, Wu Yun couldn’t help but smile smugly. This was an experience he had never even dreamed of in his past life.
"Time to get up!"
With two sharp smacks, Qi Fei and Wen Meng were startled awake.
"Sen—Feifei, hurry and get up! We need to eat breakfast and get you to the set!" Wu Yun had almost called her "Senior," but he remembered their request from last night and corrected himself.
Only after Wu Yun’s repeated urging did Qi Fei and Wen Meng finally drag themselves out of bed.
After breakfast, Wu Yun saw the two women into their luxury van and had Da Xiong and Caviar follow it in another car. Only then did he turn and get into his own vehicle.
Phoenix Entertainment.
Wu Yun’s arrival surprised many of the employees, but they quickly and enthusiastically greeted him with "Good morning, President Wu!" or "Good morning, Chairman!"
Wu Yun pointed at Wei Wu and his group and said to the receptionist, "Take them to the lounge area."
With that, Wu Yun headed straight for Wei Feng’s office.
He pushed the door open to find Wei Feng on the phone, leaning back in his large executive chair. As soon as Wei Feng saw him, he stood up. "Let’s leave it at that for now, President Li," he said into the phone. "If the company has a new investment, I’ll be sure to give your actors a chance to audition. Something’s come up, so I’ll have to call you back. Let’s talk again when we have time!"
After hanging up, Wei Feng smiled and led Wu Yun over to his tea table.
As he prepared the tea, Wei Feng smiled and asked, "President Wu, I was starting to think you weren’t going to make it to the wrap party for *Disguiser*!"
Wu Yun watched Wei Feng skillfully rinse two small cups with hot water. Fiddling with a small decorative item on the table, he said, "I had to come. It is, after all, the first TV series the company has invested in, and it’s also Qi Fei’s first major role. As her boyfriend, I need to show my support with my actions."
Wei Feng smiled. "According to Li Xue’s feedback, Miss Qi Fei not only has outstanding natural attributes, but her acting talent and willingness to learn are among the best on the entire set."
"Li Xue said that in the beginning, people might have respected Miss Qi Fei because she was connected to the investors. But after working with her for this long, she’s earned the genuine approval of the vast majority of the cast and crew."
Wu Yun had seen Qi Fei’s progress for himself. His Detection Glasses had long since revealed that she possessed numerous ’Mastery’ or ’Proficient’ level Skills related to emotional expression, though her overall Acting Skill was still at ’Mastery,’ with no further breakthroughs.
"My expectations for Qi Fei are pretty high. I want her to win a Best Actress award, for either film or television, before she turns thirty!"
Wei Feng looked a little doubtful, which was understandable. Wu Yun’s goal was quite ambitious.
Wu Yun laughed heartily. "Only after she’s accomplished that can I let her come home, settle down, and start having kids."
Wei Feng understood immediately. He smiled and said, "In that case, President Wu, we’ll need to acquire more scripts with strong female leads! Otherwise, accomplishing that goal won’t be so easy. Many of the novel rights we’ve recently acquired are for male-centric IPs. For a story like *The Immortal Ascension*, we’d have to hire professional screenwriters to adapt it and expand the role of the female lead, Nangong Wan!"
Wu Yun nodded. "Speaking of *The Immortal Ascension*, President Wei, I think we can go ahead and greenlight it for production. *Wolf Warrior* is about to be released, and if all goes as expected, it should turn a nice profit. Once that capital flows back in, we can start filming!"
"I already have someone in mind for the male lead—Hu Ge. I mentioned it to him when filming for *Disguiser* began. The timing is perfect; he’s about to wrap up his current project and his schedule will be free!"
A look of sudden realization dawned on Wei Feng’s face. "Ah, so you were the one who leaked the news that we were going to film *The Immortal Ascension* and *Heaven’s Cover*, President Wu! No wonder I’ve been getting so many calls over the last two or three months from people wanting to audition, or even demanding roles!"
"I was wondering about that. Many people knew we’d acquired the rights, but filming was still a long way off. I couldn’t figure out how they knew."
Wu Yun gave an apologetic smile. "That was my mistake. I forgot to mention it to you, President Wei."
But Wu Yun didn’t seem too concerned about it, continuing, "President Wei, I want this series to be done right. If the funding isn’t sufficient, my Nirvana Investment can contribute more."
"The special effects are the absolute top priority. Since this is an immortal fantasy world, I believe spectacular effects and a grand, sweeping world are absolutely essential!"
Seeing Wei Feng nod empathetically, Wu Yun continued, "They say *Shushan* represents the peak of special effects in all immortal fantasy productions. I intend for *The Immortal Ascension* to be next, and then *Heaven’s Cover* after that!"
"So, President Wei, I want you to find the company that did the special effects for *Shushan* all those years ago, and then invite several other companies to bid for the contract. Don’t be afraid to spend money. I want to see a competition of technical skill. Price should only be a consideration when the quality is otherwise equal."
Wei Feng picked up his notebook and jotted down Wu Yun’s requests. "President Wu," he then asked, "the special effects are the easy part. As long as the money’s there, anything is possible."
"But as for the director... do you have anyone in mind, President Wu?"
Wu Yun took a sip of tea and then named two people who, unsurprisingly, were exactly who Wei Feng expected: "Xu Ke or Li Guoli."
Xu Ke, of course, was the director of *Shushan*, while Li Guoli was the director of *Immortal Sword* and *Immortal Sword 3*.
Wei Feng thought for a moment. "President Wu, we should probably prepare a list of a few other candidates. In case Xu Ke or Li Guoli aren’t available or aren’t interested, we’ll have backups. That way we won’t be put on the back foot."
Wu Yun nodded. "Alright. President Wei, go ahead and prepare a list of candidates. Send it to me when you’re ready."
The two then discussed casting for a few important roles, ultimately deciding to hold official auditions after the script and director were finalized. Some of the smaller roles, however, could be given directly to the company’s own newcomers.
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK.
"Come in!" Wei Feng said, putting down his pen.
The door opened, and three men and two women walked in.
"President Wu! President Wei!"
All five of them curiously sized up Wu Yun before quickly averting their gazes.
"President Wu, allow me to introduce them. These five are our most recently signed newcomers. This is Liu Yi, a graduate of the Capital City Film Academy..."
Wu Yun glanced at them, noting that each possessed at least one ’Mastery’ level skill related to film and television. He nodded in satisfaction. "You’ve all read *The Immortal Ascension*, I presume?"
When they all nodded in response, Wu Yun’s gaze swept over them. "I trust you’ve all heard the company holds the rights to *The Immortal Ascension* and *Heaven’s Cover*. Go and get prepared. Your chance is coming!"
The group, who had entered in a state of confusion, now left Wei Feng’s office with faces full of excitement.
"Liu Yi, do you think the company will actually give us major roles?" a young woman named Wan Ling asked wistfully. "I think the part of Xin Ruyin is perfect—she doesn’t have a lot of scenes, but she’s a very important female character!"
Liu Yi smiled and offered his speculation, "I think they’ll most likely give us a few of the minor roles directly. But for the important parts, I bet they’ll hold auditions. Of course, that means we all get a shot!"
"Honestly, in the original novel, there are tons of characters with speaking lines. As long as the screenwriters don’t change the source material too drastically, every single one of us has a chance!"
