Rebirth: I have Monopoly System
Chapter 411 - 366: A Dramatic Champion, Wei Wu Takes the Stage
In his past life, whenever a Huaxia fighter went up against one from Japan, it was as if some latent potential in their bloodline was unleashed, allowing them to exert two hundred percent of their strength.
Iron Fist felt his body surging with power. The first two matches hadn’t drained much of his stamina, and after such a long rest, he felt he had returned to peak condition.
However, Iron Fist didn’t underestimate his opponent just because he was from Japan. On the contrary, he took him very seriously. After all, this match determined whether he could get his bonus prize money early.
"Next up is the fighter from Japan, Samurai!"
There wasn’t much of a height difference between them. Samurai walked right up to Iron Fist as soon as he entered the ring, staring directly into his eyes in an attempt to dominate him with sheer presence.
This immediately tense atmosphere, with sparks flying from the get-go, excited the audience. They started shouting for their fighter to teach the other a lesson.
Samurai stared daggers at Iron Fist and said stiffly, "Huaxia People! That two hundred thousand US Dollars is as good as mine!"
Iron Fist suddenly remembered that his opponent also had a bonus for knocking him out, so he shot back with his own threat, "Little Days! Wash your neck and wait for your master!"
Seeing this, the referee stepped in and separated them, signaling for them to stand by their respective lines and wait for the announcer to finish speaking.
....
DING DING DING!
"Ready?"
Seeing the fighters nod in unison, the referee waved his hand and shouted, "Fight!"
Iron Fist, having already made up his mind, didn’t bother with any notions of martial etiquette toward the "Little Days." The instant the referee’s hand fell, he shot forward, launching a flying knee straight at Samurai’s face.
Samurai didn’t dare to take the blow head-on, so he retreated to avoid the brunt of the attack. But he never expected Iron Fist to switch moves in an instant. The leg that had been bent for the knee strike kicked back, and a straight right from his rear hand shot out, striking Samurai on the forehead.
The powerful impact momentarily dazed Samurai. He instinctively covered his head with both hands. As Iron Fist’s fists rained down on him, Samurai could only do his best to protect his vital areas, hoping to recover quickly.
"Baka! Samurai! Retreat, retreat!" Takeda Nobuyoshi shouted, standing up and leaning against the railing as he watched the staggering, defensive Samurai.
But the venue was in an uproar, and Takeda Nobuyoshi’s voice couldn’t reach Samurai’s ears at all.
Besides, right now Samurai could only feel the pain in the muscles of his arms and back, his head still groggy.
Suddenly, Samurai felt himself being tackled and thrown to the ground. Heavier and heavier fists, and even elbows, rained down on his head, his waist...
When Wu Yun saw Iron Fist’s surprise attack instantly daze Samurai, followed by the takedown, he knew this round was in the bag as long as nothing unexpected happened.
And just as he expected, under Iron Fist’s ground-and-pound of fists and elbows, Samurai’s face was quickly bloodied. A moment later, he was knocked completely unconscious on the mat!
The referee had been standing nearby ever since Samurai was thrown to the mat. Seeing him lose consciousness, the ref rushed forward, pushed Iron Fist away, and waved his arms to declare the match over!
Wu Yun leaped up from the sofa and pumped his fist!
He had also just bet another million on Iron Fist to KO his opponent in the first round, at 2-to-1 odds.
But Wu Yun wasn’t happy just because he’d earned another million. He was thrilled that Iron Fist had defeated the Japanese fighter, and even more so by the sight of Takeda Nobuyoshi restraining himself from smashing something.
"Takeda! Looks like I’m definitely winning that ten million of yours!" Wu Yun said with a chuckle, looking at Takeda Nobuyoshi’s murderous expression and prodding him nonchalantly.
"Don’t celebrate too early! There are still two rounds! It’s not over until it’s over!" Takeda Nobuyoshi said through gritted teeth.
Wu Yun shrugged and said no more. He just took the check Wang Hao handed him and signed it for two hundred thousand USD.
"Take this to Iron Fist!"
Wang Hao took the check, nodded, and left the second floor.
In the next match, because Werewolf was Hawkeye’s countryman, and his strength was about equal to the Thai fighter Iron Bone, Wu Yun bet on Werewolf to win.
Takeda Nobuyoshi bet on Iron Bone.
But the result was completely unexpected. Werewolf broke three of Iron Bone’s ribs, but just as he thought he had won and before the referee could stop the fight, Iron Bone endured the pain and sent him off the stage with an elbow strike.
And so, the score between Wu Yun and Takeda Nobuyoshi was still tied.
A few minutes later, after Iron Bone was declared the winner, the announcer conferred with him before speaking loudly into the mic: "Unfortunately, ladies and gentlemen! After an examination by our private doctor, Iron Bone has three broken ribs, and the doctor has recommended he withdraw from the competition! We asked for Iron Bone’s opinion, and he has decided to forfeit the final match!"
Iron Bone might have been tough as nails, but he wasn’t stupid. He knew it wasn’t worth risking his life against a barely-winded Iron Fist while he was severely injured, no matter how tempting the prize money was.
If he went into that ring, there was a ninety-nine percent chance he’d just get beaten up! Those movie scenes where a hero with injuries and broken bones can keep fighting and even win are pure fiction!
So, Iron Bone decided to forfeit. He’d take his appearance fee and prize money from this match and run, heading back to his country to recover properly.
The announcer pulled a bewildered-looking Iron Fist onto the stage and, ignoring some of the jeers from the crowd, declared loudly, "I now announce that the third bare-knuckle fighting competition of 2015 is officially over! The champion is... Iron~ Fist~!!!"
Hearing this result, Wu Yun and Takeda Nobuyoshi, who had been waiting to place their bets on the final match, were also completely stunned.
"How is this scored?" Wu Yun asked a staff member.
The staff member smiled and said, "My apologies, Mr. Wu! Based on the current situation, we can only call it a draw between you and Mr. Takeda."
