Chapter 362 - 339: Los Angeles Beverly Hills Hotel

  • Next Chapter

Los Angeles is located in southwestern California in the United States. It is the second-largest city in the United States and the largest on the West Coast, often called the "City of Angels."

Los Angeles is one of the United States’ important centers for industry, commerce, international trade, science, education, entertainment, and sports. It is also one of the country’s primary bases for the petrochemical, maritime, aerospace, and electronics industries. Los Angeles is also home to many internationally renowned institutions of higher education, such as the California Institute of Technology, the University of California, Los Angeles, the University of Southern California, Pepperdine University, and others.

In 2014, the population of Los Angeles had reached 3.9 million. Of this population, 81.7% were native-born, while 11.2% were immigrants from other countries, of which the Chinese were the largest group, making up 7.1% of the total population.

Therefore, as a tourist city, Los Angeles is also a primary destination for Huaxia People.

Wu Yun and his group departed from Modu at 11:00 AM on March 6th. When they landed, the local time was 9:00 AM, also on March 6th.

After bidding farewell to Qin Rui, who still had a trace of spring’s glow on her face, Wu Yun’s party boarded the shuttle and headed directly for the VIP lane.

Perhaps because of their VIP status, the legendary difficulties one hears about when going through customs did not happen to Wu Yun.

The VIP service was indeed excellent. In the VIP lounge, dedicated staff handled all of Wu Yun’s arrival procedures. It was basically an all-inclusive service.

After completing the procedures, as they passed the regular lanes, Wu Yun saw long queues snaking from several service windows. There were many Asian faces, some of whom were clearly members of a tour group. The excited aunties and uncles were chattering away, showing no signs of fatigue from the long flight.

"President Wu! The car from the Beverly Hills Hotel is already waiting in the parking lot. They’re holding a sign at the exit."

Wang Hao hung up the phone and reported the situation. It had to be said that after several months of hard work, plus practicing English with Hawkeye and the others, Wang Hao’s spoken English had become quite fluent. Aside from some specialized vocabulary he didn’t understand, he was basically able to communicate without any barriers.

As the local connection, Hawkeye took the lead, pulling a suitcase and showing the way.

Following Hawkeye, Wu Yun and the others quickly found the sign at the exit, which had "Mr. Wu Yun" written on it in Chinese characters.

Two drivers were there to greet them. When they saw Wu Yun’s party approach, one of them, a white driver, visibly relaxed upon noticing there were several white people in the group.

"Welcome to the United States!" the other driver, a Black man, greeted them in broken Huaxia language.

Hawkeye said, "Please take us to the hotel first to drop off our luggage."

The white driver put a small notebook into his pocket and said with a smile, "Esteemed guests! Please follow me!"

Because they had a lot of luggage, Wang Hao had called ahead, and the hotel had sent a Rolls-Royce and a GL8 business van.

The drive was silent. Wu Yun had expected the Black driver to be talkative like in the movies, but he turned out to be very quiet. He basically didn’t say much, other than answering Wu Yun’s questions.

The Los Angeles valley area was relatively flat. Driving along, Wu Yun could clearly see the downtown skyscrapers that frequently appear in movies.

The weather was nice today, and you could see the vast, snow-capped mountains behind Los Angeles.

For the second-largest city in the United States, the downtown CBD area was just one large cluster, with the rest being low-rise buildings.

This was probably related to the United States being vast and sparsely populated.

The Beverly Hills Hotel was one of Los Angeles’s most historic luxury hotels.

The Beverly Hills Hotel is known as the "Pink Palace" and is world-renowned for its legendary service and celebrity guests.

For 100 years, Hollywood stars have enjoyed the timeless charm of this fantastically beautiful place, captivated by its relaxed resort atmosphere and meticulously attentive service.

The most famous star to have stayed here was Marilyn Monroe.

Of course, Elizabeth Taylor also honeymooned here with six of her eight husbands.

The hotel is located on Sunset Boulevard in the heart of Beverly Hills, adjacent to the world-famous Beverly Hills mansions.

This was also why Wu Yun chose this hotel.

After a twenty-minute drive, the group arrived at the hotel.

At Wu Yun’s instruction, Wang Hao gave each of the two drivers a one-hundred-dollar tip, to their grateful thanks.

March was considered the off-season for tourism in Los Angeles, as the temperature was still that of early spring.

Wu Yun booked one of the hotel’s 23 private bungalows. With its numerous rooms, it was more than enough to accommodate their group.

’Initially, I was a little hesitant,’ Wu Yun thought. ’After all, this is a century-old hotel. What if the bed I’m sleeping in is also a hundred years old?’

But as a hotel attendant explained, Wu Yun learned that the hotel had just been upgraded and renovated.

In the attendant’s words: "Sir, our hotel underwent an interior design renovation in 2014. While preserving the exterior, we maintained the hotel’s unparalleled comfort and unique style."

Riding in the hotel’s sightseeing cart, the attendant pointed to a pool where a few tourists were already gathered. He gave a smile that all men would understand and said, "There are newly renovated private cabanas over there. You can relax on a lounge chair by the pool, enjoy complimentary refreshments like mini sundaes or mojito popsicles, and admire the beautiful women in bikinis as they swim."

The group looked in the direction the attendant was pointing. By the edge of the pool, a "black pearl" in a thong bikini leaped into the air, landing in the pool with a huge splash, which sent a ripple of excitement through her friends.

As if sensing their thoughts, the driver deliberately slowed down the cart.

’A gust of wind blew past, and the air itself seemed a bit more unrestrained,’ Wu Yun thought. ’These foreign women really aren’t afraid of the cold. The high today is only twenty degrees Celsius. In Huaxia, at least, very few people would dare to go for a swim in an outdoor pool.’

"Of course, sir, the bungalow you’re staying in has its own private pool. You can host your own private swimsuit party right there. If you need anything, our hotel can provide a full range of services!"

’I have to say, foreigners are really direct,’ Wu Yun mused. ’How can they just bring up such a private topic so openly!’

Passing through a grove of palm trees, the attendant continued, "Our hotel also has the Cabana Cafe, a fitness center, and our signature La Prairie spa services."

Soon, the group arrived at the bungalow Wu Yun had booked.

The attendant eagerly helped carry the luggage into the bungalow, then left, overjoyed with the tip Wang Hao gave him.

Wu Yun yawned. He glanced at his wristwatch, which he had already set to the local time. It was still an hour or two until mealtime. He gave his instructions, "Wang Hao, call the hotel and have them deliver our meal to the bungalow."

"Oh, right. Contact a car rental company and book two SUVs. Make sure they’re high-end."

Wu Yun looked around at everyone and said, "After we eat, let’s get some rest. We’ll go shopping this afternoon. Hawkeye, you go ahead and contact your friends."
