Rebirth: I have Monopoly System
Chapter 359 - 337: 500 Million in Financing for Qi Guo’s Real Estate Company
"You’ve just met most of the people from our Sales Department who are in the office!" Qi Guo said, pointing to a semi-partitioned area with a "Sales Department" sign. There were probably twenty to thirty workstations there.
"The Sales Department is our flagship, the one that brings in the money! Don’t underestimate these young ladies! The successful sales of our properties are largely thanks to them!"
Vice President Liu Wei, who was part of the tour, nodded in agreement.
Li Shuo smiled. "That’s because President Qi gives them high commissions. Why else would they work so hard!"
Liu Wei also smiled and said, "Exactly! Well-fed horses run the fastest!"
"How many people are in the Sales Department in total?" Wu Yun asked, standing in the aisle and watching the saleswomen walk toward them.
As the Vice President in charge of sales, HR, and administration, Liu Wei naturally had the answer. "President Wu, the Sales Department currently has 30 employees. The company still has two active property developments, with some units yet to be sold."
"To welcome you today, President Wu, we had these employees stay. It was a good chance to put our best foot forward."
Wu Yun realized that with the large-scale property rollouts planned for the future, the current number of sales staff was nowhere near enough to handle the workload, from pre-sales to the sale of finished homes.
Wu Yun voiced this concern.
As a member of senior management, Liu Wei already knew the company’s general direction and explained with a smile, "President Wu, we do need to hire in large numbers. However, to cut costs, we usually don’t start recruiting and training new staff until after we’ve secured the land and the bidding process has begun."
"A large development usually isn’t built all at once; it’s done in at least two or even three phases. So, a single sales office is typically staffed with ten to fifteen people."
"We’ll staff each project according to its size when the time comes."
After his explanation, Liu Wei took the lead at Qi Guo’s direction and gave a tour of the administration and HR departments.
The holiday had just ended, and everyone had a backlog of work, so the entire open-plan office was a hive of activity.
As they passed the separate office for the finance department, Wu Yun happened to run into Tang Hongjiang coming out.
"President Wu! You’re here! I was just about to come greet you!" Tang Hongjiang said, holding a file and glancing toward a nearby conference room. "We’ve been working out of the conference room these past couple of days. The third-party auditors and our staff are in there."
Seeing he was busy, Wu Yun said, "Don’t let me stop you. I’ll just continue my tour of the company."
"Of course, President Wu! The due diligence results should be out by tomorrow afternoon or the day after. I’ll get back to it, then!"
After Tang Hongjiang left, Liu Wei explained, "President Wu, this is the Finance Department. It has ten people in total and used to report directly to President Qi."
Qi Guo chimed in, "Wu Yun, once you buy in, we’ll establish a board of directors. From then on, the finances will be under joint oversight."
"Uncle Qi, I’ll do my best not to interfere with the company’s management," Wu Yun clarified. "I’ll just offer some suggestions on site selection for the properties."
Qi Guo shook his head. "We do things by the book. Don’t be so polite just because I’m Qi Fei’s dad! I’ve said it before: business is business. You have the rights and responsibilities that correspond to your stake in the company!"
Only when Wu Yun nodded did Qi Guo let the matter drop.
Afterward, they toured the Engineering Department, the Development Department, and the Online Marketing Department.
The company had about two hundred employees in total, with the Sales, Engineering, and Development departments being the largest.
This was Wu Yun’s first real exposure to a real estate company. ’I don’t know much about their operations,’ he thought, ’but that doesn’t matter. As long as I have my foresight, I’m guaranteed to make a killing in the next few years.’
As lunchtime approached, Qi Guo, playing the host, had booked a few tables at a high-end restaurant near the office building to treat the due diligence team and Wu Yun’s party.
Chen Qing, the company’s other vice president in charge of the Engineering and Development Departments, also rushed back just before lunch.
"I heard from Feifei you’re going to the United States in a few days. Anything important?" Qi Guo asked curiously. He had only overheard Qi Fei mention it once at home.
Wu Yun joked, "I’m planning on doing a little sightseeing. Maybe I’ll see if I can win some glory for the nation while I’m there! Wanna come, Uncle Qi? My treat! Don’t worry, I won’t tell Auntie!"
Wu Yun threw the joke Qi Guo had made earlier right back at him.
Qi Guo’s expression remained unchanged. Inwardly, he wanted to say yes, but he said, "Be serious! We’re talking business here."
All the men at the table broke into knowing smiles.
Wu Yun calmly said, "I just bought a plane. I’m going to the United States to take delivery. Think of it as a spontaneous vacation."
"A plane? A private jet?!" Qi Guo asked, surprised. "What model? How much did it cost?"
"A Gulfstream G650. The price... Hmm... Wang Hao, what was the price again?" Wu Yun realized he’d never actually asked for the specific number.
Wang Hao sat up straight. "President Wu, Gulfstream Company’s asking price is 62 million US Dollars."
Everyone gasped. That was equivalent to over 400 million Huaxia Coin—paid in cold, hard cash! And this was the same President Wu who was about to invest in their company!
It seemed Wu Yun was far wealthier than the online rumors suggested.
Qi Guo didn’t pry into Wu Yun’s secrets, just smiled and said, "Attaboy. Looks like I’ll get to ride on my daughter’s coattails in the future! I’ll be able to hitch a ride on a private jet!"
"Just say the word whenever you want to use it, Uncle Qi! But I’m sure you’ll be able to buy your own private jet before long." In truth, private jets ranged in price from a few million to hundreds of millions, depending on one’s needs.
