Chapter 234: Preparing to Sell Little Red Car Shares

Wu Yun took out his new phone and added Cai Haoyu as a friend.

He left his old phone with Wang Hao to use as a work number. Wu Yun simply re-added his important contacts and informed them that this was his new private number.

Soon, led by a staff member, Wu Yun and his group were brought to the Zhen Shui Vacation Hotel.

Though called a hotel, it was laid out more like a resort.

Whether by coincidence or based on the check-in order, Wu Yun and Cai Haoyu were assigned adjacent rooms, making them neighbors.

After they put away their luggage, Wu Yun said to Wang Hao and his other assistant, "You two can head back. I’m giving you two days off. Just wait for my call."

Watching the two of them leave, Cai Haoyu said, a little envious, "President Wu, I really envy you. I don’t even have a secretary, let alone bodyguards!"

Wu Yun smiled and said, "I’m sure you’ll be able to assemble a team like that soon enough! You have to have faith in Miha You’s potential!"

Wu Yun kept trying to steer the conversation toward Miha You.

But while Cai Haoyu lacked experience in social maneuvering, he was highly intelligent. He didn’t take the bait, simply laughing noncommittally and saying, "I think so too."

Just as Wu Yun was about to say more, his phone rang. Seeing it was a call from Peng Zhijian, he answered, "President Peng! You’ve come to Wuzhen as well?"

Peng Zhijian laughed heartily. "I have! Just pulled into the parking lot! I got here first. President Ma arrives tonight!"

Peng Zhijian didn’t beat around the bush. "Are you free tonight? President Ma is treating!"

Hearing it was an invitation from a titan of the industry, Wu Yun agreed without a second thought.

"No problem, President Peng. I’ll wait for you in the lobby. We just finished checking in."

Peng Zhijian heard the plural "we" and realized Wu Yun wasn’t alone. He asked, "President Wu, you’re with friends? Bring them along, we can all get acquainted!"

Peng Zhijian always believed in the principle of ’the more friends, the more opportunities,’ and he figured any friend of someone like Wu Yun would be no ordinary person.

"I just met him myself. How about this, I’ll ask if he wants to join us. I’ll see you in the lobby in a bit."

Cai Haoyu heard Wu Yun mention him during the call. After Wu Yun hung up, he asked curiously, "President Wu, who was that? Is something going on?"

Wu Yun first asked, "President Cai, do you have any plans for this afternoon?"

When Cai Haoyu shook his head, Wu Yun said, "I’m going to introduce you to an industry titan in a little while."

"Who?" Cai Haoyu asked, his interest piqued.

"You’ll find out when we get there. Let’s go!" Wu Yun slipped the old-fashioned room key into his bag and gestured for Cai Haoyu to follow.

Wu Yun wasn’t dead set on investing in Miha You; his attitude was more along the lines of ’if the opportunity is there, I’ll take it.’ Therefore, he had no issue with introducing Cai Haoyu to Peng Zhijian.

Burning with curiosity, Cai Haoyu followed behind Wu Yun, wondering who this person could be that even Wu Yun would refer to as a ’titan’.

Wu Yun’s memory was excellent now, and he easily retraced his steps through the maze-like corridors.

Cai Haoyu, meanwhile, was on his phone, tapping out a quick summary of what just happened in their three-person group chat.

He made sure to mention Wu Yun’s intention to invest in Miha You.

Liu Wei: "We might be short on cash at the moment, but that doesn’t mean we’re desperate for funding."

Luo Yuhao: "Exactly! We should be talking about B Station wanting the distribution rights for our Houkai Gakuen 2. That’s what’s really important for our future."

Seeing that neither of them was interested in fundraising, the flicker of excitement in Cai Haoyu’s heart died down. After all, they weren’t desperate for the money.

"I think B Station’s audience is mostly into anime and games, so I’m sure our game will be a massive hit there! But we have to be very careful with the licensing fee and the revenue cut. Otherwise, we’ll just end up working for them!"

After sending that message, Cai Haoyu added, "There’s no rush on this. When I get back, we can take our time and negotiate with B Station together."

"Wu Yun is taking me to meet a ’titan’ right now. No idea who it is."

As soon as he sent that message, he saw his two friends’ guesses pop up.

Liu Wei: "I bet it’s someone from one of the rich lists. Otherwise, Wu Yun wouldn’t call them a ’titan’!"

Luo Yuhao: "An internet titan... It couldn’t be someone from the Big Three, could it?"

"They’re here! Talk later." He sent a photo to the group chat. It showed the back of Wu Yun as he stood up, and Peng Zhijian being swarmed by a crowd.

"President Peng! You’re here early!" Wu Yun walked over and shook hands with Peng Zhijian.

An assistant murmured something to Peng Zhijian before heading to the front desk to handle the check-in process.

Peng Zhijian joked, "What can I say? I couldn’t stop thinking about your Little Red Car, President Wu! I ditched my boss and came straight here!"

"You’re too kind, President Peng! My humble Little Red Car isn’t worth you going to such great lengths." Seeing Peng Zhijian’s gaze fall on Cai Haoyu, Wu Yun made the introduction. "First, let me introduce you. This is President Cai, Cai Haoyu of Miha You."

Wu Yun then turned to Cai Haoyu. "And this is the head of Tencent’s Investment and M&A department, President Peng, Peng Zhijian!"

Right now, mobile game companies like Miha You were a dime a dozen, and Peng Zhijian had never paid any attention to Miha You before it had made a name for itself.

Cai Haoyu quickly extended his hand. "President Peng, it’s an honor! I’ve heard so much about you."

Peng Zhijian’s name was legendary in the investment world, though few outside that circle knew of him.

However, Cai Haoyu happened to have learned about some of the heavy hitters in the investment world during his previous angel round of funding.

Seeing how politely formal Peng Zhijian was with Cai Haoyu, Wu Yun knew he wasn’t particularly interested in Miha You, so he didn’t bother trying to talk the company up.

Peng Zhijian steered the conversation back to Little Red Car. "President Wu, once the conference is over, Little Red Car will be able to accept our investment, won’t it?"

Although Wu Yun had verbally agreed to let Tencent in on the deal back at Pinduoduo, a verbal promise meant nothing. Anything not put down on paper could change in an instant.

That was why, even while attending the conference, Peng Zhijian hadn’t forgotten his main objective: investing in Little Red Car.

Seeing that Wu Yun and Peng Zhijian had important business to discuss, Cai Haoyu exchanged a few polite words and excused himself.

Wu Yun watched Cai Haoyu’s departing figure for a moment, then turned back with a smile. "President Peng, you can have your people go to Little Red Car to begin their audit and due diligence. If there are no issues, you can proceed with a valuation and an offer."

Upon receiving Wu Yun’s confirmation, Peng ZhJian smiled and took out his phone. "In that case, I’ll have to trouble you to give your general manager a heads-up, President Wu."

Wu Yun nodded, also taking out his phone to call Li Qiuliang. "President Li, Tencent’s auditors should be arriving at the company within the next few days. Please cooperate with them and provide all the necessary documents."

Li Qiuliang was delighted. "President Wu, are we starting a new funding round?"

Wu Yun replied, "Yes. This time, we’re bringing Tencent on board. I plan on selling them some of my shares in exchange for certain advantages."

Wu Yun had made up his mind long ago to gradually sell off his own shares. Bringing Tencent into the fold was simply to accelerate Little Red Car’s growth.

As for the ultimate bagholders, Wu Yun had already selected two: DiDi and Meituan.
